New Dawn

Nikka stirred slightly when she was moved, but didn't wake up for a few hours. When she did, she relized she wasn't in the chair. She sat up quickly, and glanced around. She was still in Alex's room, but she was on his bed. Where was he..? Nikka moved the blanket to the side, and finally spotted him on the floor. She blinked, and smiled warmly.

Moving some, Alex was still thinking in his sleep. Why is the pain still here? No more...

Alex started to talk in his sleep. "Why pain? Love forever in my heart. Feelings of sadness."

Nikka was tempted to wake Alex, but she stayed put, unsure if he was having nightmares or not. She pulled her feet up, and sat cross-legged on the bed.

After a few minutes, Alex opened up his mouth and blood came out. Two white dots came out too. Alex then started to throw up blood. His body came together to control it, but that didn't help. He was still asleep.

Nikka's eyes widened once more, and jumped off the bed. Her hand shot out, and she began to shake his shoulder, attempting to wake him. What was wrong?

He wanted to wake up, but nothing was possible with his mind in a far off place. Yet he pointed at his stomach and then moved his hand to his pocket. He felt like he was in a trap. No way to get out, but he cried for a word, anything to come.

"Help me."

Nikka understood slightly, and she pulled the bottle of pills out of his pocket. They didn't look too suspicious, but as she read the label, her eyes widened even more. The brand of pill was toxic to the vampires. It contained a form of water only found in churches. Holy Water. "Alex.." she murmured quietly, trying to think of a remedy, something to save him with..

All he could remember to get ride of it was to point at his desk. Yet to Alex, he pointed to the ship on the ocean infront of him. His arm was weak to get up but after awhile, he did.

Nikka glanced up at the desk, and quickly got to her feet. She stumbled over to the desk and began to dig through the piles of things there, until she found a small vial of some kind of liquid. She tilted her head, but snapped back into reality when Alex coughed.

With every passing moment, Alex started to get cold and lose more of his sight. He didn't know what was wrong, but his body felt cold.

Alex spit more blood up and his heart rate was decreasing fast.

Nikka rushed over to Alex, clutching the bottle tightly. She could only hope she picked up the right thing. Cautiously avoiding his latest puddle of blood, Nikka kneeled next to him and tilted his head back. She took the top off of the small bottle, and poured a few drops into his mouth.

After Nikka gave him a few drops of the liquid into his mouth, he spit it up with blood. His heart rate was coming to a close as his life slipped away. It was so slow that Nikka couldn't hear his heart anymore. Alex was trying to stay alive and felt that now was a few seconds away from dying.

Nikka's eyes filled with terror, as she watched Alex slip away. "Alex... Just hold on, you can do it.." she murmered, trying to help. She felt tears sting her cheeks were cuts were, and held him tightly. She felt useless. Nikka had no idea what she could do. She didn't know what was wrong... or what could help. "Please.." she said almost too quietly to hear.

Blood was still coming out of Alex when his breath stopped and his heart. His head went back in Nikka's arms. His lungs weren't moving up nor down and his arms went limp in her lap.

Alex feel on the ground in his dream. The cage was heavy, ontop of him as death stared at him. He wanted to move, but nothing came. Was he dead? He wanted Nikka to remember that the cure is not death but life. The dragon was a symbol of death, but also life. Just wish he could have told her to put it on his back, and on the heart. Yet the information that came to him was just silence, and no one was able to hear him now. Death unlocked the cage and took Alex in his hands, and started to walk.

Nikka knew when he went. She felt his body go limp in her arms, his head lolling back into her shoulder. Tears flowed down her cheeks, but she was too numb to feel them. She stared at him, trying to make herself believe that he was alive. But nothing worked, she already knew he wasn't. Nikka let out a small sob, and let her eyes wander, trying to look everywhere, but at him. Her eyes rested on a small sheet of paper near the desk. It must've fallen when tore through his things. Nikka blinked a few times, and gingerly lifted his body away, laying him on the bed. She gazed at his for a few moments, before turning back to the paper. Why it interested her, she did not know. But she moved towards it anyway. Slowly, she bent over and picked it up. Notes had been scrawled down in elegant handwriting, and she let out a small gasp. A smaller version of Alex's tattoo was drawn on it, and she narrowed her eyes, reading the notes quickly. When she finished, she glanced up. Was it too late to save him?
