New Dawn

Walking out of the room, Alex made a turn to his bedroom, and unlocked it. The bed was still neat, and things were picked up. At the edge of the bed was a stack of blood and Alex took one and drinked it down. After a few more, Alex turned around and handed one to Nikka. "Want one?"

Nikka nodded slightly, and took the bag from Alex. It disgusted her how the head of the house seemed to be pampering the residents, giving them blood in packages. They should have to hunt for themselves. She grimaced slightly, and drank it slowly, forcing her hunger to subside.

Alex took another one, and then sit on the bed thinking. Looking at Nikka was in his mind now, and he just wanted to hug her. But he held back.

Nikka sat on the bed beside him, and let her gaze wander around the room. After a moment, she let her gaze rest on the window. She enjoyed looking outside, and after today... she needed to calm down a bit.

"Ready?" Alex asked after Nikka sit on the bed. He got up and gave her his hand.

Nikka smiled, and nodded. She took his hand once more, and pulled herself up.

Walking to the dance, Alex took a few seconds on who was there. He wonder about who was on the guest list, and if any of them were going to be trouble in the end. Alex led Nikka by his arm, and stood beside the table to the door. He greated everyone that walked through, and noticed a couple of people from other years that came. Yet he felt like he was pale, and needed a seat.

Nikka dipped her head slightly at each person they passed, until she glanced up at Alex's face. He didn't look well, and she began to take him toward an empty table in a quieter corner of the room.
"Are you absolutely sure you're feeling up to this Alex?" she said, raising her voice over the music.

"I'm all right, just needed more rest. I'll be fine. If things go wrong, there are 3 guns in my clothes. One in my pocket, another by my right ankle, and the other in my back pocket." Alex moved to see more of the guests. "I could go for a Bloody-Mary, extra blood."

Nikka nodded quickly, and stood up. She scanned the room, and began walking towards the bar, dodging couples with graceful movements. She reached the tender quickly, and repeated what Alex had said.

Alex saw Nikka walk to the bar, and after she left, he took out a bottle. In it were pills and he put 3 in his mouth. Taking a few seconds, he got them down and put the bottle back into his coat. He knew those would work, but just will take 30 minutes to get the affect, and start to feel better again. Alex wished he thought of them earlier.

"Here you are miss.." the tender said, handing her the drink. Nikka dipped her head in thanks, and made her way back to Alex, who seemed to have not moved.
"Here you go Alex.." she said, sitting across from him, holding the drink out.

"Thank you Nikka." Alex took the drink and took a sip. Then he stared quickly at the door, and to his surprise, Nikka did the same thing. He reached into his coat and put a powder into his glass and put the plastic back into his pocket.

"What did you see?" Nikka asked, turning back to Alex. She hadn't seen anyone, or anything out of the ordinary.

"It was nothing I guess. Must of been a shadow or a person doing something different." Alex finished his drink and sit back in his seat.
