New Dawn

Reading the clock in the library, Alex saw that it was a little past midnight and he hasn't eaten for awhile. He got up and headed for his room, yet he decided to go see the garden and the fountain first then go for lunch.

Nikka woke to the sound of footsteps, but she kept still. She didn't care if anyone else was around. All she wanted to do was sleep, so she closed her eyes tightly, and drifted into a light sleep again.

Sitting down by Nikka, Alex looked up at the moon. The stars that danced above his head made him a little at peace. The smooth water as hit the rocks at the bottom. He looked at Nikka and saw that she was sleeping soundly.

Nikka mumbled something quietly, and let her eyes open again. She knew someone else was there.
"Alex?" she said softly, pushing herself up with one arm.

"Yes." he said with a little of a smile. "Today is the dance, or should I say tomorrow. Anyway, its at midnight tomorrow, or today. So confused and hungry."

Alex then smiled again at her.

Nikka let out a small gasp. She'd really lost track of time.
"So it is.." she replied, smiling softly back. She sat up completely, and turned to watch the water. It calmed her down.

"Hungry?" Alex said as he got up and headed for the door. He sure was hungry and wanted to get inside before he feel to the floor again.

Nikka nodded slightly, and followed Alex inside. She yawned, and trailed her hand along the wall.

Just as Alex opened the door for Nikka and closed it someone came to them. "Meeting in the library now. Nikka, you need to talk to Thomas, and Alex, High Lord Valath needs to see you now. Both in library." The figure left and Alex was puzzled. He turned to Nikka with a worried look.

Nikka stared after the figure, confused. Then looked back at Alex, who looked like he was as confused as she felt.
"Well.." she started, "I guess we should go.."

"Sure looks that way." Heading to the library, Alex passed the people standing in the doorway. Seeing High Lord Valath by the high council made Alex feel unconfortable, which made him more then ready for the worse. He turned back to Nikka, which was talking to Thomas by the fireplace. Alex thought he saw tears stream down her face as Thomas talked to her about something. He couldn't catch anything, because the other vampires were talking.

Nikka walked into the library behind Alex, and nodded quickly at the High Lord, before joining Thomas by the fireplace. He didn't look like he had any good news, so she sat back and waited for him to begin.
"Nikka.." he started, clearing his throat, "I'm sorry to tell you this.. but.. we had a robbery.. Your room was torn apart.."
Nikka could only stare at Thomas. What if Alex's gifts had been taken. What if they had been destroyed? She felt tears sting her eyes, and she jumped to her feet and ran full power out of the library. She ignored Thomas's cries of protest, and sprinted up the stairs to her room. When she opened the door, she let out a small cry. Her room had been, indeed, torn apart. The bed was in pieces, and the closet door was off it's hinges.
"No..No please no.." she whispered, walking towards it. She glanced inside and found the locket.. but the dress she had been given was gone.
"No..."

Glancing back as Nikka ran out the door, Alex saw that he couldn't go after her now. "Alex, there as been a lot of things that have been destroyed and people's rooms trashed, but your room was not touched at all. We feel things have been taken and problems with someone coming in here when all is asleep or knocked out to not wake up."

"What you want me to do about it? The party is tomorrow." Alex said with a little fear. "We will still have it, and I will be here checking that no one that is allowed here to be here."

Alex waited for Nikka to come back and the meeting to start.

Nikka stared at the closet for a few moments, before turning away. She clutched the locket with all her being, and shakily put it on. She took a few deep breaths, and walked down the stairs again. She couldn't tell Alex. She would have to make something else up. Nikka entered the library, and tried to compose herself before walking up to Alex.

Alex drew a breath as Nikka came back, and decided that something was gone. But the meeting had to go on and Alex was to be awake for the next couple of days on watch with a couple of others in the room.

"So no one sleeps then?" Alex said. "That is correct, untill I come up with something to get this theif or person."

After the meeting Alex left after everyone else did.
