I just caught Palkia. I was going to use a net ball 'cause it's part water, but I figured "what the heck" and used an ultra ball. First try too!

I beat the elite 4 but the league champion knocked me out 17 times in a row. I’ve gone off to train more.

Current Team

Level 57 Infernape (m) (Ritsu): Flamethrower, Shadow Claw, Fire Blast, Flare Blitz
Level 50 Noctowl (m) (Soloman): Fly, Hypnosis, Extrasensory, Silver Wind
Level 55 Chimecho (f) (Midori); Grass Knot, Extrasensory, Psychic, Shadow Ball
Level 57 Luxray (f) (Reki): Thunder. Thunder Bolt, Strength, Discharge
Level 50 Steelix (m) (forgotten nickname off hand): Dig, Flash Canon, Rock Clime, Stone Edge

I need a good water type pokemon to complete my team, but I’ve not seen one I like yet that’s any good.

Can you get lapras, it's a good water pokemon, okay so I don't know if you like it, but I know its good.
I once took out the whole elite 4 in pokemon red using only lapras, then I got to the champion and had to use other pokemon as well...
Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell

You should probably add a grass type as well to take out her Gastrodon, and an ice type for Garchomp. As for water types, I can say from experience Tentacruel is surprisingly good. It can even cover all three attack types that you need, Water (Hydro Pump/Surf), Grass (Giga Drain), and Ice (Ice Beam/Blizzard). It has a good Sp. Attack stat, and killer Speed and Sp. Defense stats.

Anyway, I beat the final gym leader and am on my way to the Elite Four! Yay!

Current Team:
level 43 Torterra (Grass/Ground): Earthquake, Wood Hammer, Rock Climb, Bite. Item: Shell Bell
level 43 Starraptor (Normal/Flying): Fly, Aerial Ace, Close Combat, Roost. Item: Quick Claw
level 44 Golem (Rock/Ground): Rock Blast, Earthquake, Explosion, Double-Edge. Item: Soft Sand
level 43 Gengar (Ghost/Poison): Shadow Ball, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Confuse Ray. Item: Spell Tag
level 43 Octillery (Water): Waterfall, Fire Blast, Signal Beam, Ice Beam. Item: Wise Glasses
level 47 Palkia (Water/Dragon): Ancientpower, Dragon Claw, Spacial Rend, Surf. Item: Soothe Bell

I can honestly say that I don't know....

I'm pretty certain that you need the Nationaldex before you're able to catch Lapras.

Maybe to CATCH him...but doesn't mean someone couldn't trade you one. Apparently you can have Nat Dex pokemon before the Nat Dex is obtained. I traded mute a few things and he just gets #??? for now ;P

So... Sometime in the not too distant future we really should have a Pokémon battle tournament. The way I see it working... There'd be a thread here on the forums that tracked the entries and posted matchups. People would then have their battle over Wi-Fi and post the results. We could do either a single or double loss elimination bracket.

For the battles themselves, we could allow any non hacked pokémon and hold items. It'd be 1 on 1 battles with six pokémon each. To keep things fair, we'd do level 100 battles (when doing a level 100 battle, all your pokémon are instantly leveled up to 100 for the duration of the battle). That would take care of level differences without requiring everyone to actually get their pokémon to level 100. However, the temporary level boost doesn't evolve pokémon or teach new moves so people should make sure their pokémon are evolved and know all the moves they want first.

So, thoughts? Suggestions?

The judges for these battles are all ALIENS and have ALIEN powers that they use to magically make all Pokemon level 100, then make them go back down after the fight!

Oh wait, the aliens are for the other topic...

I've kind of been wondering about that too... well, the stats. A level 100 Pokemon obviously has higher stats than a level 68 Pokemon. So do they change them too or what?
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

I'm thinking not for at least a couple weeks so everyone will have time to get their teams in tip top shape. Heck, I'm still considering changing some of my attacks around now that there's all those new TMs... I just wanted to guage everyones' interest and see what you thought of the rules.

As for the battle level ups... In a level 100 battle all pokémon below level 100 are raised to 100 then returned to their original levels after the battle. Their stats are the same as they would be if you manually leveled them to 100. HOWEVER, the temporary level boost doesn't give them EVs (a hidden stat that increases other stats a bit) so unless you've already maxed out your pokémon's EVs it will be a little bit weaker than a comparable pokémon that has been leveled up manually and maxed out its EVs. But maxing out a pokémon's EVs doesn't require getting to level 100. It's actually all in the battles you win with that pokémon. In general, the EVs for my starter tend to max out around level 40-50. The way to tell is to talk to the person who gives Effort ribbons. If she gives your pokémon and Effort ribbon, it's EVs are maxed (also, you can't use stuff like Carbos on pokémon with maxed EVs).
