<span style='color:maroon'>"I can't help it if I like to exaggerate a bit, Arashi-san." Genki said, a bit of pride creeping onto his embarrassed expression, "I act and entertain for a living. It just happens."</span>

There was an awkward silence before the branch Kazi was clinging to snapped. A scream, a shout, and a tumble later, Genki found himself breaking Kazi's and Arashi's falls.

<span style='color:violet'>Daisuke was walking down one of the many streets in Konoha when he came upon a trio he recognized, though was not very familiar with other than being aquaintances. The three of them were a tangled mess on the ground, a broken tree branch laying nearby. He didn't hurry up to their location, but instead took his time reaching it.

"Moshi moshi... Genki-sama. Arashi-sama. Kazi-san.", he said, regarding each of them politely and with respect for the Jounin.

Having a pleasant conversation was something to do when you were bored to tears. More often than not, he'd considered pulling the kunai he used to hold his long raven hair up out and throwing it at a tree for sport. The kunai was dulled on its edges so it couldn't cut, but the tip was still sharp and could easily stick into a tree. But this seemed something better to do in his opinion.</span>

<span style='color:maroon'>Despite having two people crash down on him moments earlier, Genki could tell that Daisuke was bored out his mind. Then, he had an idea. </span><span style='color:#454545'>Arashi could only cringe. He knew when Genki was having a brainstorm...</span>

<span style='color:maroon'>Waiting for Arashi and Kazi to safely stand up first, Genki brushed himself off anf straightened out his leather jacket before addressing Daisuke, "Daisuke-kun, you're a Chuunin, ay?"</span>

<span style='color:violet'>Daisuke, a little curious and confused, answered politely, "Hai, Genki-sama. I passed a few months ago. Why?"</span>

<span style='color:maroon'>Genki motioned for Kazi to come over. "Kazi's getting ready for her exam, and I've been looking for a suitable training partner. Who better than a chuunin from a recent exam?"</span>

<span style='color:violet'>Daisuke thought for a bit,</span> <span style='color:maroon'>and Genki waited patiently for the answer.</span>

<span style='color:violet'>Daisuke glanced at Kazi-san and thought a few moments more about the offer. On one hand, he could spend who knows how many hours or days bored until a mission came up for him or he could do something that was time fulfilling and uselful in helping the young genin prepare for the Chuunin exams. It wasn't a hard choice, but he wondered just what he might be getting himself in to by agreeing to it.

"All right, I'll help out."</span>

((Whoop, whoop. Moving plot, yet again.))

The Chuunin exams were beginning in a few days. The Jounin of Konoha had precious little time to bring up their Genin for the coming trials.

-------

Meanwhile, a small procession of ninja traveled in the silence of the trees, the whispers of the wind their cover and guidance. At the head of this procession was one ninja in a characteristic set of black robes, an odd satchel strapped over his left shoulder. His face was obscured by the trademark white hat of the Wind Shadow... This ninja was the Kazekage of Sunagakure.

As the teams of Sand-Genin and their Jounin teachers follwed behind their leader, the Kazekage began to sense something amiss... Something was watching him and the other Sand-nin. Kazekage Gaara did not like this notion he was sensing, and went off to investigate, instructing his ninja to keep moving toward Konoha.

One Jounin protested, insisting that only the honored Kazekage was sure of the path to Konoha. All the others have never been to the Hidden Village in the Leaves...

Gaara grunted. That Jounin was right, Gaara was the only one who knew just how to get to Konoha aside from his brother and sister... His sister, Temari, and his brother, Kankuro, had gone ahead of him a few weeks ago to set up accomodations for not only Gaara's arrival, but for the Sand-nin Gaara would be accompanying... He was also looking forawrd to the play Kankuro was preparing with the local performing arts clan in Konoha.

"Alright, then. I'll investigate later..." Gaara sighed, picking up his pace, "I still don't like the fact we're being watched, though."

"I'm sure we'll be fine once we arrive there before sundown, my lord." the Jounin assured his master with a grin.

Gaara grinned back, albeit a fake one. The Jounin's grin was fake, too.

-------

<span style='color:maroon'>Genki was having Kazi practice a little Taijutsu with Daisuke. Easy enough, right? Nope. The catch? It was coupled with a game of hide and seek.

Kazi really wasn't very good at stealth in spite of her almost inhuman speed and agility (an inherited trait of their clan, by the way), something Genki sought to improve. A game of hide and seek would be very good for her.

Now... the thing with being a ninja was that even a simple game of hide and seek would become needlessly complex and dangerous. This was a necessity, though. Kazi had been trained too softly and knew little of how hard it was, despite sucess in her missions. Genki regretted this fact, and now he had to make up for this.</span>

The idea of this modified game was to hide. Simple. Hide any way you can, anywhere, and as long as you can hold still. The seeker would then do his job: find the hider... but with a kunai or a shuriken. Seeker hunts, seeker sees, seeker throws kunai... and the weapon has to be VERY CLOSE (as in, an-inch-from-the-bullseye close) to the hider. No genjutsu or elemental jutsu are allowed in this game. Taijutsu, focus, cleverness, and a little luck are all that is needed.

This modified game of hide and seek would train accuracy, tracking, stealth, and terrain manipulation. If you don't wanna get hit, you have to hide well, and use your surroundings to your advantage. If you want to find your target, track well and aim well.

<span style='color:violet'>For practice, Daisuke hid first (Genki told him to take it easy on her since this was just a way for her to get used to theis game) and let Kazi hunt him.</span>

<span style='color:maroon'>While Genki was watching the practice game,</span> Hikari tapped her friend on his shoulder. She had brought along her shy little brother, Taifuun, who was hiding in the book shop reading shounen manga as usual. <span style='color:maroon'>Genki smiled at Hikari, his kunoichi friend, warmly. It was obvious Genki had feelings for her, and being the bonehead he was sometimes, Genki was not ashamed to let his heart sit on his sleeve for Hikari to scrutinize.</span> Hikari felt the same about Genki, but she was a bit more subdued about it. <span style='color:#454545'>It had been a mutual thing between them for years... and yes, Arashi knew this. He could only sit and chuckle as he looked on.</span>

---

<span style='font-family:Arial'>In their younger years, these three Jounin were Team Uzumaki #3.

Yes. Iwa Arashi, Shigatsuame Hikari, and Yarihito Genki were one of the many three-man teams Naruto himself taught over the years.

Arashi, of course, provded his team the brains and the raw brawn they needed; Genki was the heart and soul of the group, working to move the mission ahead with a light heart, and was a useful master of distraction and confusion in battle; and Hikari supported both of her teammates-- her skills augmented their powers, and she tended to the wounds of her team after all was said and done.

They obviously worked well together, instinctively knowing who would be best to lead in certain situations... Naruto-sama didn't need to teach them much, and Team Uzumaki #3 did well on their own-- every mission. Period.

At their height, Team Uzumaki #3 (as well as all the other Uzumaki Teams) were nicknamed "The StormTroopers"; This was partly to reflect the fact that Naruto the Hurricane trained them, and (due to each member being excessively powerful in their own right) that they were often sent as 'ninja shock troopers' on shock and awe missions. To this day, anyone who was one of Naruto's students was still occasionally called a StormTrooper.

When times became peaceful and there was no longer anymore threats outside of the occasional Missing-nin, Team Uzumaki #3 disbanded and lived in the restless silence, maintaining their friendships through frequent 'hanging out' and training their Genin charges together.</span>

---

Today was no exception. After the practice game was over, Taifuun joined in the game of hide-and-seek, <span style='color:violet'>Daisuke playing the seeker in this round.</span>

The Jounin of Uzumaki #3 watched the game from a distance. It felt strange that of the three, only two had genin under their wing...

What was stranger was the cold chill of something bad going to happen creeping up their spines...

-------

Something was in the woods... Something dark and forgotten.... Something loathing... Something longing.

Something with a vendetta that had to be fulfilled.

And it waited for its time to move.

(This RP being a 'what if' arc, I feel that it's okay to take a few liberties. I've got a 'villain' in the works, as well as a few opening events to get things going. I didn't invite Gaara for nothing, mew. ^^ Let the games begin!)

(Redheero-san? Stevenson-san? Artemis-san? Is it okay that I stick you three into a three-man team? Feel free to choose one of the Konoha 11 as your teaching Jounin... and feel free to 'watch' the game of hide and seek...)

(And Stevenson-san: Shikamaru's clan is the Nara Clan. Just so you know, mew. ^^; )

(That's fine with me. Wee! I'm the seeker in the game. XD)

<span style='color:violet'>Daisuke landed silently, gracefully, like a cat on an outgoing tree branch shrouded in leaves. Closing his eyes and falling absolutely motionless, he Listened.
Being raised in the constant sounds of the Rain had sharpened his hearing and made it very acute. He searched with his ears for their breathing and Kazi-san's was louder since she was closer to him.
After merely a few seconds, he managed to pinpoint an accurate target. Silently drawing a kunai from his holster, he took aim. The knife dug an inch or two into the ground directly in front of Kazi-san's nose. She had been hiding in the foliage and underbrush.

"Come out, Kazi-san!"

Suddenly, Daisuke became a stone statue upon the branch. His mind had finally registered another presence besides the Konoha ninja around him. Whatever it was, he was already Positive he did not like it.
Kazi-san popped out of the bushes below and startled Daisuke with her sudden movements. He stumbled and fell to the side. But, he didn't make hard contact with the ground. Instead, he grabbed the branch as he fell and flipped up onto it again. After finding balance, he looked down at the kunoichi.

"Oh... Nice try, Kazi-san. Next time, monitor your breathing. Keep it even and silent."</span>

((*shoves game*))

A pair of cruel, red, intelligent eyes glared out of the foliage accompanied by a low growl. Three Jounin, two genin, and a lone chuunin... all were easy prey. Killing them all would be a good way to alert the Leaf Village to his presence.

Sadly, that would only make his job harder... With an impatient sigh, the red-eyed thing slinked deeper into the forests, awaiting his time to strike.

-------

It was almost sunset when Gaara arrived at Konohagakure's gates.

<span style='color:maroon'>Genki called it a day for Kazi's training and was running about doing last minute errands with a few other performer ninja getting ready for their presentation for the night. </span>Confunded looks were being worn on the faces of his teammates, students, and Daisuke as Genki scuttled by with several parcels in his arms and a tanuki plushie sitting on hid head.

Hokage Naruto passed by to greet Gaara warmly... <span style='color:maroon'>just as Genki tripped and fell, the parcels he had been carrying landing on his head. Kazi had stuck her foot out. </span>The commotion caused by this childish prank got the attention of both Kages as they greeted each other at the gate. <span style='color:maroon'>Genki only glared at his sister as he stood up and brushed off before bowing his respects to both village leaders and picking up the scattered parcels.</span>

It was almost time for Genki to get ready.

Tonight was going to be a night to remember.

Daisuke slowly walked toward the two Kages and bowed deeply in respect to both of them. "Good evening, Hokage-sama. Kazekage-sama.", he said as he stood straight again.

Naruto smiled fondly down at the young chuunin. "Hello, Daisuke-kun. I'd like you to meet our honored guest, Gaara." He motioned to Kazekage who stood beside him. "Hello.", was all Gaara offered.

Daisuke gave another small bow. "Hello, Kazekage-sama.", he replied.

Gaara acknowledged the greeting and remained silent. Naruto bent down slightly and put a hand on Daisuke's shoulder. "Daisuke-kun, why don't you go help Genki-san prepare?", he asked.

"Actually, I don't have any idea what he's doing. I was hanging out with him and helping to train his younger sister for the upcoming Chuunin Exams.", Daisuke replied.

{{Yeah, that makes sense. And it would help if I knew who the Konohoa eleven were. However, I think I have a grasp of it. I vote for Hinata. Or Akiba if you guys don't like that. Whatever, really so long as it's not someone lame.}}

Niwa {that's his name now. Silence. Didn't like Kibley very much.} had been woken up by an unneccesarily loud ninja. {gee, wonder who that was *doesn't like Naruto very much*} He saw some ninjas playing hide and seek for no apparent reason. One of them seemed rather familiar. Couldn't really get a good view, since they were being all ninja-esque and he didn't really care.

((... May I suggest Shikamaru fo your sensei? He's likely walking around with a cigarette in his mouth... Nah.))

((Plus, we're already done with that training, Stevenson. We're moving on, now.))

Gaara seemed to be enjoying himself as he and Naruto watched the preformance that Kankuro and the Yarihito Troupe put together. It was a dramatic comedy that told the story of a legendary group of heroes and their exploits.

Of course, the tanuki plushie was the show stealer... Kankuro had the plushie tweaked into being a puppet so it could play as the conscience of Genki's character. It was a riot watching Genki interact with a stuffed toy.

((Gack... I've been writing this for days and it STILL doesn't sound right....))

Daisuke had chosen to sit up in a tree on a sturdy limb that was growing mere inches away from where the Hokage and Kazikage were seated. He watched the show with mild interest and had begun to question Genki-sama's sanity.

"How could they possibly let him teach children how to kill people...?", Daisuke muttered to himself.

The strange feeling that something was watching them slowly crept up Daisuke-kun's spine. He glanced around and spotted nothing immediately.

"I must just be tired... I hope... For the sake of finishing the show and pleasing the Kazikage."
