Adventurers!
Adventurers!
Everyone knows about stuff like the book of the month club. So, I was wondering who would be intersted in forming a webcomic club.
Basically, here's how it would work. Once everyone intersted has joined the club I'd put the names in order and we'd go down the list. Each week the person who is currently in charge would take a web comic that they like and assign it to the club. Each member would then go and read said comic (not neccessarily the whole comic since some are really long but there would be a minimum amount, say like 50 strips) and then post their comments about it. We'd discuss that comic until the following week when the next person would take charge and introduce another comic.
So, first off I'd like to know who would be interested in joining this 'club'. And, if anyone is interested, I'd like to know if they have any comments or suggestions about the whole club comic reading and discussion process.

This could possibly be the best idea of our generation. I'll join.
Stevenson's Vocabulary Word of the Week:
Foment: (verb) To excite or arouse, i.e. 2014's Week of Randomness hopes to foment some activity on the forums.
Stevenson's Latin Phrase of the Week:
Brutum Fulmen: (senseless thunderbolt) This phrase, coined by Pliny the elder, is used to refer to an empty threat.

Yeah, I'm in! There are some good but severely under-appreciated web comics out there...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Ok, the Web Comic of the Week Club is official in session.

Here's how it will go. Every wednesday one person will be the club host for the week (we'll go in the order of the list above). The host should post a link to a webcomic as well as some comments on the comic (and maybe link to some favorite strips if they're not in the first 50). Club members should then read said comic (if you don't have time to read the whole comic read at least 50 strips) and post their thoughts on it at some point during the week. The comic will be discussed until the following wednesday when the next host takes over.
I'm hosting this week so here goes...
This week's comic will be Adventurers. It's fairly popular so some of you may already know about it but since it just finished its six and a half year run, I think it deserves a sendoff.
Plot Summary: Adventurers is an RPG parody comic that follows Karn and his teammates on their quest to save the world. The majority of the comic focuses on random RPG humor, joking about things like random battles, oddly named skills, dungeon layouts, and the like there is a plot that starts up eventually which naturally involves battling an ancient evil, and evil supervillian, and all that type of stuff.
Art: Adventures starts out as a very poorly hand drawn comic. It's still funny, but the art sucks. Fortunately the art improves at a fairly rapid pace and eventually it ends up as a really good looking computer drawn comic.
Things to Know: The archives divide the strips up by sections and don't link to individual strips so if you want to link to a specific strip bookmark the address.
Favorite Strips Not in the First 50: Due to the previously mentioned issue with the archives, I'm having trouble finding them. Here's one for now and I'll try to find more later.

I've actualy read a bit of this comic before, but i'm re-reading it for the club. I really liked this one
The art in this particular comic did suck, but I love 'timmy fell down the well' jokes

I've been rereading it as well. I really like this strip. It's the kind of thing I'd do in Pebble Version, pointing out something you take as perfectly ordinary while playing the game but really makes no sense at all when you think about it. This is also a favorite, no real reason I just think it's amusing.

While I probably wouldn't read this one regularly or anything, THIS one isn't too shabby.
Yeah, go figure, the one I like is about grammar pickiness.

I have yet to read it, because I've been busy, but I'll try and get it read hopefully Sunday or Monday (Because I might not work Sunday, but for sure dont work Monday)
Look at this signature. Isn't it the funniest and most hilarious signature you've ever seen?
I am the artist formerly known as Matrix Kirby.

Here's a few more must read strips. I would love to do this in a game just to see how people would react. And I'm sure everyone has acted like Karn in this strip in one game or another. And finally, here's one that I just think is amusing.

Aw... Stevenson already mentioned my favorite strip.
Well, I also rather enjoyed this one... it refernces not only just how obnoxious car salesmen are, but also Cid from FF! Oh! And this one for no particular reason.

Aw shucks. Getting locked out of Pebble Version and no internet kinda sucks.
I'll continue reading it and post my thoughts about asap.
EDIT: I really liked this one because it actually made me chuckle AND how it remidned me of episode 12 of Yugioh Abridged....
And the art really does improve.
