Overview of the Comic World from ROM 2

RACES

The Dryad 
Name meaning: Drys in Greek signifies 'oak,' from an Indo-European root *derew(o)- 'tree' or 'wood.'

Dryads are tree spirits that live and protect all of the major forests of Orca. Dryads, like all nymphs, are supernaturally long-lived. Some have been known to live up to 200 years. The Dryads reviver there forests as gods and worship and protect the older trees in there woods.
Although Dryads can leave there spiritual homes and live where the please they generally prefer to remain with there woods. Though the spies is friendly and allied with many nations they are reclusive in nature and only reveal themselves when they absolutely have to.
Dryads are on of the four races that practice the art of monster training. The excel in handling earth based monsters due to there deep connection to nature.

Dryads are usually quite gentle, but if poisoned, or defiled by black magic, they could become extremely lethal killers.

Fun Facts

1) Although the Dryad are omnivores they can in fact carry out photosynthesis from the leaves on there heads.

2) The braid root that stems from a Dryad's head is a full limb and can change length at will. The strength in the braid is so strong it can smash cinder blocks in one movement. Most Dryads keep there braid at a long length as its a symble of there race, but it can be retracted right to the scalp if the Dryad so wished it.

3) The spikes on a Dryad's face are only visible when the dryad is upset or angry. They are normally retracted like cat claws under the skin. The spikes on the braid and fingers work in the same fashion.

The Chanku

Name meaning: 'Chan' and 'ku' are suffixes used on the end of names for males and females in Japan. 'Chan' is often used to mean 'cute' or 'small'

The Chanku are the smallest race on Orca, and the most closely related to monster sprites. The Chanku are a hard working race that are wide spread thought out Orca, and are intermingled in many of the other races cities. The Chanku are openly peace loveing creatures that resent the use of violence. There children are well schooled as education is very important to them.

The Chanku can speck the language of the monsters and as such are a link between wild nature and civilised society. The Chanku often as act as diplomats between the other races in times of turbulence, due in part to there intelligence as well as there neutral nature towards everyone.

Fun Facts

1) The Chanku may appear to have a two sets of eyes, but in fact, the 'eyes' on there beast bill is mealy patterns in there fur. It remains from the days in which the Chanku where monsters, as it makes them look like there awake when in fact there asleep.

2) The horns on a Chanku's head can be used in combat if needs be but there mealy a useless leftover from evolution (like the fur pattern eyes)

3) Only male Chanku of fluffy tails.

4) Chanku have large arms which also stems from the monsters ancestors. They are believed to have been used for tree climbing.

5) The tallest of Chanku only comes to 3 1/2 foot.

6) Chanku only live for 40 years.

The story book of Orca

Orca has many storys and legends. Here they are from the many books that will get reference within the comic.

Shauni is thought to be this persons reincarnation because she has no memory of herself, has summened an 'off worlder' and arrived in Orca just as evil has returned.

'Incarnation of the other worldly madian'

The follwoing story is the telling of the death of the last 'Incarnation of the other worldly madian'

The Fall of the Sensai Priestess - Taken from the Holy Text

"And the fallen angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire."

"He maketh fire come downfrom heaven on the earth in the sight of men."

Once upon a time, there was a very brave young woman. She was a great warrior, loved by many, and friends to many other great warriors.

She had many adventures. She won and lost many battles. Once, a god stole the soul of the one man who she truly loved, and would not return it to his body unless the young woman could defeat him in combat.

The young woman fought the god with the aid of a two powerful magic daggers and the help of her friends. The young woman was brave and strong, but a god is a god, and a god can be stayed, but he can never be defeated.

But the young woman stayed the god for a time, and took back the soul of the man she loved and returned it to his body.

The young woman and her friends thought they had defeated the god. But they had not. In time, the god returned, and his wrath was great.

First, he destroyed his servants, for they had failed him, and a god does not tolerate failure. Then he took flight on wings of fire across the ocean, for he was a god, and in the end, the gods are always revenged. He went towards the young woman's home, killing as he went.

The god came upon the young woman and her husband. The young woman and her friends fought bravely, but they fought a god, and while before the god had been made weak, now he was full of the glory of flame, and no force upon the earth could stay him now.
And the young woman had no magic daggers to help her this time.

The young woman and her friends were as strong as mortal men and women might be, brave of heart, and full of the love of life
and each other. They fought with all the bravery and skill and love that mortal man and woman might have, but they fought against a god. They died, in the end. Not quickly or easily, and not without courage. But still they died.

This story is the telling of how the 'Code of Clancy' or 'honour above all' was established

The 22 Ronin of Clancy- Taken from the Holy Text

Slightly over two centuries ago, one Lord Gillette and his rival Hellion were invited to the Imperial Palace, a signal honour. But the treacherous Hellion tricked Lord Gillette into unsheathing his sword in the Palace itself - a capital crime. rather than be executed, Gillette performed seppuku - honourable suicide - to save face. As Hellion knew he would.
The 22 players who served Gillette became ronin - masterless. They wandered the countryside, engaging in drunken debauchery. Until the anniversary of Gillette's death.
One year to the day, they rose from their false debauchery and descended on Hellion's estates. Their enemy had been fooled by their pose. None survived. And afterwards, the 22, to keep their honour pure, committed seppuku together."
Truly was Vengeance served

"Father, stand besides them as they walk the Path of the 22 Ronin. Guide them true as they seek their enemy. Light their Path, Lord Gillette, and show them the way to destroy their enemy and bring justice to the honoured dead."

The Prophays of the Resurection of Shauni

"Hidden by the unseeing eyes of Humans and Gods alike, he lies in wait. His purpose unknown, but his goal evident. It is the choice of mortal man that he should succeed, or that he should fail. The greatest off all evil lies bound at The Gate of the Gods, staved in fragidul slumber the the Prietess of the gods. The Other Worldy Maiden binds the fallen god for a time, but her strength will deminish and the barriror she holds will brake. The upon the curse of the fallen god, she will be born again.

And Lo; the fallen god spoke onto the Priestess as she cast her conciuos soul into the shield to bind him

"I curse you Priestess. I curse you from here to eternity. You will never ascend past this world. You shall be reborn time after time, each life will be as the last. You will never find happiness. You will forever be as lost as you are now, and love shall reject you."

The Priestess called back to the mockery of the fallen god

"Once my strength has failed me I will return to mortal guise again, having lost everything that has made me who I am now...but I will be granted the gift to summon even stronger warriors from beyond the Gate of Gods using insight that only transcending threw Hell will grante me. When I return to the relme of monsters, I will bring the gods wrath upon you as I have done before ."

The Priestess will be cast back into the guize of mortal flesh to begin the cycle again. She will summon holy warriors from beyond the Gate of Gods, and they will crush those that seek to awaken the fallen god, and destry his tirrany abosltly.

The Prophasy of Moen's serch and The Fallen Gods's awakening

A Demon with open eyes will confront him, and the bound god shall escape. He lies in wait no longer, and with the taking of seven shades of the human heart, he shall reawaken. The world shall fear him.
The infant Prietess will awaken as the unholy demon stalks the land in search of the bound god. His servants are awaiting, soon to become one with him. The calm and the lost will soon met within the circle, as the student meets with hid old master.
Fate will intervene, and bring the warriors of old to a single convergence. As the unholy demon continues his journey, he will feast upon the land.
The key to the cursed gate will be found, and the demons shall gather. The demon will approach and the servants shall be protected as he awakens the god. The God will begin his journey, and soon will be the last sunrise.
The warriors converge, and the Prietess will face the dark one once more. Hellion will soon return.
The shadow will hide from the light, poisoning each step of the righteous, and feeding from the step of the impure. Hatred will grows ever more in the village, and suspicion will run. Salvation shall fall, and the dreaded forces of the demon shall rise within the city. The warriors of light must face a difficult decision, and leave behind all that they know to regain that which they have lost."
And Lo; the light shall be stained by the dark, and love shall be enslaved by that which it fights against. The dread shall grow stronger, and begin to move, followed ever so closely by those who would fight. The final chapter lies upon the horizon, and soon the forces of east and west shall converge.

Battle/ Monster Cards

These cards look normal but by calling the name written on it a monster can be summoned that is sealed within. They work like Pokeballs but the monster IS the card. If a card is destroyed then so is the monster...forever

Pride/ Vanity

Manifestation: Lady Ivy 

In English, the term "pride" refers a sense of self-respect, a refusal to be humiliated as well as joy in one's accomplishments.
Often a disputed ?virtue'. A distinction can be plainly seen between pride, the quality of valuing quality performance, and vainglory, as in excessive vanity excited by one's own performances; empty pride; undue elation of mind and boastfulness.

Avarice/ Greed

Manifestation: Miser

Greed is a desire to obtain more money or material possessions or bodily satisfaction than one is considered to need. A more religious term for greed is avarice.

Envy 

Envy is the desire for another's traits, status, abilities, station, or worldly goods. It need not be associated with an object; its salient characteristic is the unfavourable comparison of one's own status with that of another.
Envy is often indistinquisable from pride in its negative state at times.

Wrath/ Anger/ Rage

Manifestation: Haku of Onett

Wrath is a somewhat archaic word, used mainly within religion, to refer to extreme anger. A negative emotional reaction associated with other bad feelings such as fear, disgust, shame, irritability, outrage, hostility and possibly even violence. Actions resulting from anger often have negative consequences, because the neurotransmitters/hormones released during anger intensify impulsive action and cloud rational thought processes.
The emotion of instant displeasure on account of something evil that presents itself to our view. In itself it is an original susceptibility of our nature, just as love is, and is not necessarily sinful. It may, however, become sinful when careless, or excessive, or protracted

Lust

Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth.
In essence, lust is very similar to greed.
They are both self destructive and very difficult for one cought up within it to save themsels.

Gluttony

Taking the love of pleasure to excesses. Overindulgence

Sloth

Apathy and inactivity in the practice of virtue.

The Trials of Champions
The trails of of the champions are the fabled tests the four warriors born of a different earth mother must face. Orca will test there strength and wisdom, and if they pass, she shall grant them her powers

Important Items

Dryad Cordial

This potion is made from the distilled essence of a dryad's tree, and the process for making it is only known to certain druids.

If a woman drinks the potion, she falls into a "beauty sleep", wherein all physical blemishes and imperfections are removed, and she becomes magically attractive to males of her own race.

If a man drinks the potion, he also falls into a "beauty sleep" of sorts, and is transformed into a woman. He becomes physically weaker, and the effects will last from one to five weeks.

In the case of multiple uses, the duration doubles with each use. Additionally, there is a chance for a woman to actually become a dryad, with the chance increasing for each use. Should a man continue to drink the potion, the effects can become "permanent and unremovable" with each additional dose.

The Holy trees that the Dryad worship and protect are focus points for natural magic and are considered deities in there own right. To cut down or injure a Holy Tree will anger the spirits of the forest, and incur there wrath in the form of a curse. Those cursed by the tree are said to transform into Saplings themselves on the night of a lunar rainbow.
