"I haven't been in the heat of war, but I've had the experience of killing my fair share of Scarlet Crusade soldiers.", Gil replied quietly, sparing Raven a glance before returning to speak again with Artemis. "Shh... Stop crying. Answer Raven's question.", he said gently, smiling to her.

"I...haven't.", Artemis managed to say. Her sobs lightened and soon stopped all together, leaving only thin rivulets where the tears had slid down her cheeks. She rubbed her eyes once with her arm and a slight blush of embarrassment painted her cheeks.

"Not officially speaking, no. I don't deal in the petty squabblings between countries, unless one of them has alot of money, which they are willing to give me. Which, so far, they have not. Their loss." Raphael said.

"I haven't been in a war. I scared some Crusaders off with Lighting Spirit a few days ago when Tikawa was captured, and I've shot several others, but I don't think I've really killed any yet..."

"The only recollection I have of fighting the Crusade was when my parents were killed resisting them. At the time, I couldn't control plants as easily, and was only able to wound them." Acantha made a face. "At least you destroyed the fort we were trying to prevent them from building. I owe you some thanks for that."

The mage crossed his arms behind his back, and began to walk slowly down the halls.

"I have... For most, it is the hardest thing you can ever pull yourself to get through... Standing on the front lines, magic and arrows getting thrown at you and by you every second... You get hit in the arm, and you turn to your friend for assistance... but you find your friend lieing on the ground with an arrow through his chest... You look at your command officer, who has also recevied his own injuries, as he retreats the command... And you run... run like a coward..."

He stopped, and turned to the group.

"If there's anyone here that isn't man enough to face up to that kind of challenge... I would suggest leaving now..."

Tikawa just shook his head, and walked past Raven, heading toward the exit.

Raven didn't say a word.

Raphael also moved aside to let tikawa leave. "You know, that's why you shouldn't get attatched to anything. Everything dies eventually. I think everyone in this room neds to know that." he said. "If you're not ready for everything you hold dear to be lost, you also have no business being here."

Acantha laughed. Aeria shivered listening to her. "What have I got to lose besides my own life?" the demon asked no one in particular. "My parents are already gone, I have no friends, and no siblings. What's it to me if I enter a war?"

The Featherite sighed. "Admittedly, it's not a nice picture. I'm going ahead anyway. After hearing what the Crusade can do without hindrance, and after having to save Tikawa from being hanged for almost no reason whatsoever, I want to stop them." She blinked at the leaving Dragonian and added, "Even if it means losing the few friends I have."

"I have nothing, thus I can potentially lose nothing except my own life and I am more than willing to risk it if it means possibly halting the Crusade activity.", Gil added, glancing at Tikawa as he walked out.

Artemis stood up hastily. "I promise...I'm not abandoning the Resistance! But I...I need to go talk to Tikawa about this. I'll be right back...", she declared, hurrying through the door after Tikawa.

Gil watched as Artemis fled through the door and sighed softly.

"Tikawa!?", Artemis called, running to catch up to him. Since he was still walking, it was rather easy. "Tikawa...? You're really going to leave us?", she questioned in a subtle manner, reaching his side and walking with him.

Tikawa looked to the ground.

"I'm not a fighter... I can't stand to see bloodshed... I am weak..."

Raven looked to the others and nodded.

"Then we're off. We'll take the back door."

He walked back into the small room, heading toward large black doors.

"No, you're not! I've seen you fight before... Sure, you may not have killed any of them, but you have other skills too. Your healing abilities would be a significant help to us in battles. Tikawa, please, come back with me.", Artemis said.

Gil watched as Raven walked into the other room and decided to follow after him instead of waiting on the others.

A thorny whip flew in front of Tikawa, preventing him from going any further.


"You know, you really should disguise this place by scent....."

"Yeah, seriously, this guy's like a bloodhound."

"Listen, young Tikawa. Failure to se death is not weaness, it is but a trait. A trait which can be overcome. If you wish to help these good people, then do not deny yourself of that wish."

Tikawa took in a deep breath, and let it out in a long sigh.

"Look... I have my own reasons why I can't join this war..."

He tried to walk by the sage.

Aeria was looking a bit disappointed as she watched Tikawa leave. "He was a nice guy," she commented to Acantha. The Demon had an expression on her face that signified she couldn't care less. "He didn't fight, but I think he was nice. Actually," she added, "He's a bit like me..."

"Uh-huh..." She gazed after Tikawa, then turned and started after Raven. "You coming?" she asked Aeria. The Featherite sighed, looked down the hallway they had come from again, then followed.

Raven walked by them, ofllowed by the other soldiers.

"Come. We begin marching to the next town. My friend in the other town is holding rooms in the Inn open for us. There aren't enough for one toa room, so I will assign room mates. The walk is about 2 hours. It is quite the distance."

After having that said, he begins to move on the path, toward the next town, followed by the soldiers.

Artemis sighed and walked over to join the others. She walked along with them without even thinking about it.
