((Well, I guess Shauni can start her battle any time now. Sorry for my lack of posting. This week has been busier than I thought it would be.))

The children were fast asleep with Aarrul standing watch and Aerobreaker curled like a living wall around them...

The Guardian looked at his bandaged arms... He recalled the battle in a nearby village that he was trying to protect... If only he was able to use his powers... But the people he wished to protect would treat the Guardian as an enemy...

... There were more orphans in his woods since that attack... In a way, he felt responsible for what happened to them. The children did not seem to mind, as they could sense that the Guardian was a good caretaker...

The Guardian drew his attention to the Archangel, the blade was glowing in its sheath again... With a gauntleted hand, the Guardian drew his blade and stood there, gazing at the polished surface.

"Archangel... What are you trying to tell me?"

(Ok, now I can post my part because I can get back into PV :D)

While Neo and his old friend caught up, Opal snuck away and found Virgo outside the VIP section.

"Oh, hi Opal! You put up a nice battle against Josiah. You sure got a lot better than the last time I saw you battle." Virgo smiled.

Opal gave a weak smile. "Virgo, I need a favour."

Virgo's smile disappeared. "Uh, sure. What's up?" She asked.

Opal slipped on her gloves and pulled out Lopas card. "I need you to get rid of Lopa."

Virgo was stunned. "But...why?"

"Because." Opal paused. "I thought I could control an SoS, but I was wrong. Dead wrong. So please, take it, and destroy it or something." Opal breathed deeply.

Shauni noted Opal talking to Virgo for a moment but brushed it of
"Finally, about time I saw some action"
She glanced at Amhal ((what monsters does he have anyway????))
*This will be over quickly, I have to face Josiah, not question...if I want to get rid of this curse its the only way...*
She was supposed to walk down the stairs to get to the arena but instead her fiery wings burst from her back and she flew to her battle position
"Alright Amhal, lets get this over with"
Amhal laughed "HA! You would do well not to underestimate me Shauni!"
*whatever*

((Jeff, Amhal is ur NPC, I don't want to put monsters into his deck he doesn't have, let me know what he has, but remember I wont be online this weekend, so I'll keep an eye out today, if you haven't posted by 4 pm my time I wont be able to finish my battle till Monday))

((In ROM 1 Amhal had a very powerful light monster named Odin (Odin is a Norse god, rides a six legged horse, is is most of the Final Fantasy games), and in ROM 3 he has one called Water Spirit. I think Water Spirit was already nova level, although Odin will have certainly advanced by now so he'll need a new name. Well, that's two monsters so you only need one more.))

*Virgo took the card from Opal and studied it intently.* "Destroying a monster is not something to be done lightly. It's very difficult and unreversable once completed. Although," *she thought back to their encounters with Lopa,* "in this case it might be neccessary. But there may be another option."

"Really?" *Opal looked up.* "What is it?"

"You should take the card to Codo. He was the one who purified the evil controlling me when I was a Zodiac Legend. If there is any good in Lopa he is the one who can bring it out. If not, then we should destroy her."

"Ok. I'll try that. Thanks." *Opal took back the card.*

*Meanwhile, Josiah and the others had returned to the VIP area to wait for the next match. Virgo slipped over to rejoin Josiah.*

"That was a good battle." *She sat down next to him.*

"Thanks. But I was lucky that Lopa didn't listen to Opal. I shouldn't have been so over confident, summoned Yggdrasil without thinking. I thought she might have something special for her third monster but I wasn't expecting a shadow of souls. If Lopa and Opal had been working together I would have needed you, Rayzion, or Electriblast to defeat her. Still, Opal needs to be careful. Keeping a SOS like that is risky to say the least."

"She knows." *Virgo replied.* "I told her to take Lopa to Codo."

"That's good, if any..." *Josiah trailed off as he watched Shauni fly down to the arena.* "But I'm beginning to think that Lopa may be the least of our problems. First Shauni and then that mysterious army that Jeff and Amhal were talking about..."

*Virgo frowned, unsure what to say. Josiah was rarely worried but it he was it was often for a very good reason.*

"We'd better pay close attention to this next match. Maybe it'll help us figure out what's wrong with Shauni."

Neo and Tusekasa trailed behind the rest. "That was a good match. I can see that you've improved your battleing skills alot. We could of used you. And who is that boy that's behind us?"

"Well that would be Metalmorph, my monster. You should remember it."

"That's metalmorph? He's changed alot since I last did see him."

"Ya, strange things do happen."

"You calling me strange?"

"No no. Just weird."

"Hum, you're one to talk."

((Uh Opal, Codo isn't at the tournament. At least not yet. He's heading there to find Shauni but according to her, he won't arrive until the tournament is over. You'll have to edit that post.))

Shauni stood ready at one end of the battleing court, his semi-friendly nemesis at the other.
*It'll be a short battle* Shauni thought smugly.
"You can choose first, Shauni!" called Amhal from the other side. "Be easy on me!"
His friendly sarcasm was not lost on Shauni, who was aggravated by Amhal's layd back attitude. "You'll regret that, Amhal!" she yelled out.
Shauni reached for a particular card. She hurled it to the ring with experienced dexterity. "Pyrogothica, I choose you!"
"Bsaaaaur!" The bird sreached as it birst out of the card in an explosion of fire.
Amhal smirked. "Wait'll you see this!" The older trainer pulled out a card. "Gilgamesh, go!"
"Hazarh!!" the six armed, cloaked firgure yelled menacingly as it appered from the card in a bright white light.
"A Gilgamesh?" Shauni whispered. "I didn't know his Odin had evolved! Still, why would he use a light monster against a fire one? Makes no sense. Maybe he's just showing off..."
"Contenstants ready!" the announcer boomed. "Begin!"
"Gilgamesh, Masamune attack!" Amhal ordered. The muti limed dashed forward, trying to collide with Pyrogothica, one of its many swords drawn .
"Pyrogothica, dodge him!" Shauni yelled. Pyrogothica jumped aside, and the Gilgamesh skidded right past him. "Inferno Strike, now!!"
Pyrogothica extended his wings, sending out fearths that burst into flames as they left, they went flying and wipped at the Gilgamesh's legs and sending it crashing to the ground. "Saaaur!" Pyrogothica crowed, withdrawing the wings.
"Waaaar." the Gilgamesh retorted, withdrawing to prepare another attack.
"Pyrogothica, use your Inferno Strike again! Knock him over!" Shauni shouted quickly.
Pyrogothica's wings extended again, the feathers whipping out at the Gilgamesh. The Gilgamesh ducked instinctively, the feathers whistling over its head, just grazing his back.
"Gilgamesh, grab those wings! Use the attack I taught you--Zantetsuken!" Amhal bellowed.
The Gilgamesh clamped a hard hand onto one of Pyrogothica's wings, yanking the lard bird off-balance and reeling him in. Then the Gilgamesh swung Pyrogothica back and forth and slammed him against the asphalt repeatedly. Its then drew out its largest short and aimed right for the birds heart.
"Saur! Saaaaur!"
Ash gritted her teeth. "Pyrogothica, use your wing! Pull his legs together!"
Weakly, Pyrogothica complied, entwining the multi limed knight's legs for a second time and giving a yank with all his strength. The knight crashed over again.
"Pyrogothica, you alright?" Shauni called, worried.
"Ssaur!" The bird shakily got to his feet, then nodded, ready for more. But Shauni was a little less convinced.
"Pyrogothica, do you need to return? We can go to second pick!"
"Saur!!" Pyrogothica shook his little head emphatically.
Amhal grimaced as his own monster recovered enough to attack again. "Gilgamesh, Excalibur! Now!"
"Waaaar!" Gilgamesh took a deep breath, then let loose with a torrent of swords from its mouth.
"Pyrogothica, look out!"
Pyrogothica nearly collapsed trying to move, but dove aside just in time.
"This is no good...Pyrogothica, get this over with. Use Inferno Strike again follwoed quickly by Explosion!"
The bird flew high into the air with its remaing strengh. It sent a torrent of feathers that Gilgamesh tryed to counter with Excalibur. As it was destricted by the first attack, it didnt see the huge ball of fire that was Explosion come appon it. With a desporat block with one of its swords the fire exploded on impact and sent Gilgamesh down and out.
"Alright Pyrogothica! Only two more to go!"
Shauni began to dance around, forgetting herself for a moment and returing to the joy she felt at a hard won victory.
"Its not over yet!" Amhal interupted
"I summon Stumpy Angel!!"

*Josiah watched the first exchange closely. It was still too early to call a winner but from what he'd seen so far, this match might be determined no so much by the trainers' strengths and skills, but by their attitudes. Amhal was clearly looking for a fun and enjoyable match like many of the contestants and didn't seem to be putting everything into the match. He should have recognized that last attack as a feint, Josiah had. Shauni, however, appeared deadly seriousand was obviously fighting with everything she had. But why? Josiah liked to win and prove his skill but this was just a friendly tournament, not a life or death battle. Why would anyone want to win so badly?*

?Do it Stumpy Angel!? he yelled as the small angel appeared from the card in a flash of blind light.

Shauni remained unimpressed by the display.
?I guess he knows what he?s doing? She thought to herself

?bwhhhaa? growled Pyrogothica. Stumpy Angel mealy hovered before him silent.
?Allow me to take the initiative!? yelled Shauni after a moments silence.

?Pyrogothica. Use Fire Storm then quickly revert to defensive mode.Ok?.on my count. Attack!?
The bird did exactly as it was ordered and produced a massive curtain of fire that headed towards the angel.

Amhal smiled ?ok Stumpy! Lets go! Use Heavens Virtue for an Iron Defence!?
Stumpy suddenly hardened just as the wave hit it head on. Both trainers couldn?t see there monster because of the brightness of the flames. They both waited with baite breath. The bird emerged first and resumed a defecsive postion. Stumpy was second to energe. It was burnt but still in one peace. It losed up from its Iron defecnce and Floted back to its starting point.

Shauni was shocked ?how?.how is it still standing??? she questioed
Amhal smile and yelled over to her ?its not all about attack and type Shauni! Heavens Virtue increaded Stumpys resisntecne.?

Shauni looked at Pyrogothica. Fire Strorm was his best move?Now what was she going to do. Both monsters awaited orderes.
Yomikko watched from the balacany. She noticed that Amhal would not attack. Shauni ordered the bird to attack over and over using all its moves but Amhal would only battle defecnsivly. She began to work out her stratigy. He would ware down the apponent as it attacked. Then he would strike?..
Yomikko knew the only way Shauni would win this is if she forced Amhal to come out of its defence postion. But how would she do that?

Shauni by this point also began to see Amhal's stratagy. She had one more trick up his sleave
?Ok Pyro! Use Hail to Ukyo!? she yelled
Yomikko suddenly realised she had cracked Amhal's stratagy and she began to cheer ?You can do it Shauni!?

Pyro headed towards with all the strengh it could muster. It scanned over the angel an found its chink, or weak spot in its defence. Putting everthing into it, it struck that point with its beak. Bracking threw the Heavens Virtue and landing a hit.
Unfortunaly, Stumpy countered with its own Short Poke and Pyrogothic was wid open...
?no!! yelled Shauni as Pyrogothic plumited towards the ground and smashed into the ground below
"Pyro!"
She returned the monster to its card, now she was fumming
"That was a dirty trick, you intened to have me think you where fighting defencivly so you could counter!"
Amhal smiled "Guess you worked that out to late?
Shauni's face was red with anger
"Now you've done it! Now I'm really mad you worm! I summon Mirage!"

"That was a nice trick." *Virgo commented.*

"Yeah, but considering how weak Pyrogothica already was, a good offensive right from the start migh have worked just as well and kept Amhal's monster from taking so many hits." *Josiah mused.* "Although I've never see a Stumpy Angel before, for all I know its stats and moveset might not be good for an offensive blitz."

*They grew silent as Shauni's next monster emerged and turned their attention back to the match.*

Neo and Tusekasa didn't follow everyone else into the VIP area. "So, what have you been doing the past 1.5 years?"

"Well, it's kind of a long story. Afer I went off to find Moen I fought battles along the way. I was about to get to his place when..." and Neo talked for abit. "Then I meet up with a creature called a Shadow of Soul that was a copy of me but darker and opposite of me in certion things. He took controll of my body for a long time."

"That must of been horrible."

"Yes it was. I had no controll over what I was doing. He was in comand. He got the god monster Kuiia that I now have."

"You have 1 of the 3 god monsters!"

"Ya, me and 2 other people. They've all been captured."

"Wow. Please go on."

"Well, anyway..." Neo went on some more. "I finally broke free from Zanther and then later we battled and I won and got his monster Raquezez." Neo took out the card.

"Code? I've never heard of that type."

"Ya, seems to have came into existance in the dark world. It can manipulate game coding."

"It can? Don't tell me that you still think this is a game."

"How long will it take you to understand that. Well, it can't be helped."

"Hum... just go on."

Neo then told of the battle afterwards plus what he did before this day.

"So you did come home. I just had to leave."

"Yep."

The battle went on long and hard. Mirage falling Stumpy angel with fall from grace and 2 Glass Shards attacks that finally broke threw its massive defence and knocked it out.

Then come Amhal's last monster, his Water Spirit.
It almost wiped Mirage out in one attack, using its Raging Seas.
Shauni, deperat, sent out her own water monster Omegan.
The two engaged in many blows and it was only when Omegan lanced a Tidal Wave to counter a Raging Seas attack, it had a chance to strike Water Spirit when it was at it weakest, knocking it out.

With no word or celebration for victory from Shauni, she calmly returned Omega to its card, bowed and flew back to the VIP box, not even bothering to speak to Amhal.

"Well, that was an enjoyable match for me...anyway, thank you Shauni!" he shouted after her, which got him a "hmmhp" from Shauni
"O well....at least I got a word out of her...sort of"

"Interesting match..." *Josiah mused as he waited for Amahl and Shauni to return to the seating area.* "Although I wish Amhal would have gone all out from the beginning. He didn't get serious until mid-way through the second battle."

"Do you think he could have beaten Shauni?"

"Well, he has gotten a lot stronger. But probably not. Still, it would have made things a bit more itense. And I still don't know why Shauni is acting so strange..."

"I could go talk to her or Yomikko if you'd like." *Virgo offered, unsure if that would really help.*

"No, not yet. I want to see how she acts during our battle. Besides, we should pay attention to this next match. Whoever wins goes onto the finals, which is where I plan to end up."

"You will." *Virgo grinned.* "I'm sure of it."

"Thanks." *Josiah returned the grin.* "Meanwhile, make sure you're ready to fight. I was planning to save you for the finals but, depending on how my match with Shauni goes, I may have to call you in a bit ealier."

((Semi-finals at last! First match, David vs. Silver. Silver, you can start whenever you like. As for David, you can control him or I can control him. Your choice.))
