Aloha! Then allow me to be the one who first one to post in this thread for the contest!

I have been peeking in, incidentally, but I don't particularly care about amiibos or the new 3ds.

HEY ALL

That's right--I'm here! Because I totally remembered on my own and not just because there have been two facebook posts about it recently! Yeah! And this time, I'm gonna try and remember to actually be kind of active! Yeah!

So yeah, as for my own life right now, I've got a few days to make a decision that will affect what I'm doing this summer (oooh ahh drama). Basically, I've had a summer opportunity come up that I have one week to decide whether or not I will take. If I were to do that, I'd have to forego the idea of getting a real internship for the summer. However, if I turn down this, I'm back to sitting around waiting to hear back from companies about internships and have no guarantee of getting one anyways because life is hard. I want to take the opportunity, but it means not making much money this summer, but this is like... once-in-a-lifetime sort of deal. Harrumph.

In other news, I'm still the drum major of my band, and we've got a rehearsal coming up soon where we're testing out some student arrangements and see if any of them are good enough to perform in the fall. I've decided to be ballsy and write an arrangement of my own, so I'm pretty nervous about that, but also excited! It's a medley of the Morrowind and Skyrim themes because I'm a NERD and also one of the show theme ideas we have is a dragon/fantasy show.

UH that's all for now since I need to go back to working on my absurdly long lab report (I've written 8 pages and I'm not even halfway done CRIE). Ta!

Edit: Yo I'm still a princess?

Welcome back, Saber! Have fun with that lab report. I'll be over here laughing at your pain and misery.

...No, I'll actually be going to work on Cinderella opening weekend... More little girls in princess dresses making messes while their parents whine about prices. Yay...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! I actually want to see Cinderella, though I probably won't be going for a week or two. Anyway, it's nice to you back, Saber. And nice to see Stevenson posting too!

My plan for today is checking out the art, music, and food festival. Hopefully it'll be good, since I had to pay $10 for a ticket...

Hi! Agreed! Also, buy shelving, because it's on sale at Target and that's what I'm going to do! Since, you know, more shelves means more places to put books, games, DVDs, and the like.

Hey!

Monday's are super busy days for me (normal mat sci classes + my PE class + most of my extracurriculars meeting on Monday) so now I'm up on campus doing work but I wanted to pop by to prove that I will make that effort to be around WHOO

Uhm but other than that I'm going back to work since this is a crazy week for me.

(But Saber, you say that about every week!)

Ugh yes I do. Yes I do.

Nothing to report here.

Not been up to much, not really been anywhere.

I did have an awesome holiday booked at a castle I was looking forward to but we were double booked so they cancelled on us (lame)

Nice to see some posts, took me more than a glance to catch up!

Hi! So many things I see in the news these days just depress me. Things like logic, common sense, and even cold hard facts are increasingly being thrown out the window just to advance on agenda or another.

On a much less depressing note, I got my copy of FF Type-0 HD and the FFXV demo yesterday! Not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to them this week, but next week is spring break, so that'll be awesome.

Where on FFXV now? Man 10 years ago I would have known all about it but I think i've fallen out of love with Final Fantasy.

I'm more for open world, effect the story, custom character RPGs now like Skyeim and the like. I still like normal RPGs but I think I feel there a bit ridged.

Hi! I never got especially into the super open Elder Scrolls style RPGs myself. The main draw in RPGs for me is usually the story and, while those type of RPGs tend to have very detailed worlds settings, the main plots and character development are usually really lacking. And, while it's a secondary concern, I usually don't find the battle systems as much fun either. If the demo is any indication though, FFXV does seem to be going for more large open areas with lots of little quests scattered around. No custom built characters or story changing choices though.

Aloha! Personally, I love the idea of games like Skyrim, but in practice I get bored almost instantly. I guess I have a very short attention span or something, because those games just cannot hold my interest, despite the fact that they are universally beloved.

Hi! Not really universally, there's plenty of people who like those open-ended games but, according to my research for my textbook, a significant majority actually prefer more linear games. On the one hand, you get a big world, a million things to do, and tons of freedom. On the down side, you don't have much structure (which bores or confuses some players), it's extremely hard to tell a good story, you lose any sense of proper pacing, and level design tends to suffer as well. And that's just a brief overview. Another thing I learned in my research was that a lot of people are like Stevenson, they like the idea of open-ended games, but aren't all that fond of the actual games.

I get the "cant see the wood for all the trees" thing, but I tend to get board of doing one thing and these games let you go off and do another little story.

I think what I really like is the customisation of being able to play as "you"

Mass effect and the like make me feel a part of the world, not just along for the ride.

I'm not in to "open world" either really, I can't stand mincraft for the basic fact I get board exploring.

I like going off and finding other little dramas going on I can get involved with, but I won't spend ages climbing a cliff just for an item and no story.

On another note, The weathers gone all Silent Hill here. So foggy its dangerous, and there telling us to avoid going outside as its a pollution cloud.

Great.

If my radio crackles im just locking myself in the bathroom.

Hi! Mass Effect is more of a middle ground between Elder Scrolls and Final Fantasy. When you take a close look at it, you'll see that in many cases you only really have two choices (Paragon or Renegade) and the vast majority of your decisions have no real impact on things. If the main draw for you is exploring different areas and lots of sub-quests, there are plenty of JRPGs which have that. Not Final Fantasy XIII so much, but most of the FF series, not to mention Tales, Persona, etc. give you a lot of freedom to run around the world, find optional quests, and get involved in little side stories whenever you want a break from the main plot.
