Otakon 2013
Otakon 2013
It's official, I'm going to Otakon! I'll be getting there either sometime Thursday afternoon/evening or early Friday morning (I'm going to PA to visit relatives for a couple days before that, so it just depends when I can get a ride). Leaving Sunday evening (flight is around 7 PM). Who else is going to be there? Naturally, we need to meet up and hang out.
Also, just saying it now, I absolutely have to see the Sunday concert no matter what, since Chiaki Ishikawa is opening and she's one of my two favorite Japanese singers. I'm probably not going to be able to go to Animello anytime in the foreseeable future, so this is probably my only chance to see her in person.

Silver, Colly, and I will certainly be there, as it is very close to the Undisclosed Location where I reside.

Yep, we'll be there for sure. And I wouldn't miss the Sunday concert for the world! It's freaking Yoko Kanno! I mean, Chiaka Ishikawa is nice too, but... Yoko Kanno, man. So I guess it would make sense to meet up for that at least, right? It's safe to assume we'll be waiting in line since Saturday to get in, so we may as well hang out while doing it.
Oh, I know I posted this on facebook too, but make sure to pre-register by the 8th! You save $10 on admission that way. Plus you get to wait in the pre-registration line instead of the regular registration line. Not that it's much of an improvement on Friday morning...

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Well, some people (i.e. me) can pre-get their ticket on Thursday.

Re: Otakon 2013
Well, yeah. But Josiah said he's either gonna be there Thursday night or Friday morning. So if he ends up getting there Thursday night in time to pick it up, everything works out well! If not... at least he saved the $10.

Yeah, I registered yesterday. Though I may very well get stuck in the Friday morning line...
I'm totally up for waiting for the concert together, but we should try to meet up on Friday as well.

Re: Otakon 2013
I'd love to go to Otakon so bad, but there are a few anime conventions coming up not far from where I live, so I guess I can make do LOL

So, I know the schedule hasn't been posted yet, but any plans for Otakon aside from the Sunday concert?

Re: Otakon 2013
Otakon to-do list:
1. Try to keep myself out of the Dealer's room as much as possible but end up spending most of the con there anyway
2. Buy too many Nendoroid Puchis
3. Avoid Fan Panels at all cost
4. Take many photos of cosplayers
5. Attend Masquerade with high hopes and be crushingly disappointed when it's just a bunch of ballerinas
Should be pretty easy to manage, I've done as much every year. I mean, except for the years that the Masquerade was actually good.
Nothing else is really definite... Oh! Plan to go see the dub of Wolf Children though, it's premiering at Otakon and I want to check it out. I'll wait 'til the schedule's up to make any real plans as far as panels and stuff.

Re: Otakon 2013
Not spending much in the dealers' room should be easy enough for me, seeing as, after all this time in Japan, I'm pretty much out of spending money.

Re: Otakon 2013
Ballerinas would be okay. Overabundance of shuffling? Not so much.
As for myself I tend to keep myself busy with panels and things, and also taking pictures of cosplayers. Or more accurately, holding my girlfriend's bag while she does so.

Re: Otakon 2013
I'm guessing I'll mostly be at panels and games. Other than the concert, of course. And probably waiting in line to get into said concert. Though I'm up for suggestions, doing stuff with people, and the like.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention I spend some time in the game room. Look for the gentleman in the top hat playing Puzzle Fighter 2, haha.

Ah yes, the game room. We usually stop by there for a while too, play a few rounds of Twinkle Star Sprites since it's the one machine that isn't occupied... hopefully they'll still have it this year.
