It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Oh my goodness what have I started? Working my way through the posts from oldest...
Thank you for your explanation, Saber, it was the kind of thing I was looking for. I do however struggle with the arbitrary picking and choosing of biblical teachings to follow but I guess that's just how it is. It frustrates me that some things apply while others don't and I'm not sure where the line is drawn. It seems silly to follow the bible at all to me unless it's going to be all the way.
Hell, maybe I don't even know what it's about cause while I've felt immense attraction to some people I've never really been in love. But I've seen people who are truly in love and that's enough. Okay, enough of that! I'm sorry for bringing it up!

You have a right to your own body. You do not have a right towards anybody else's body. (I could get into abortion here and how it's wrong cause you certainly do not have a right to that unborn baby's born but that's another discussion altogether.) What two consenting adults do with their own bodies is none of my business and I have no right to tell them what to do. Sex is an expression of love. It's intimate. It's absolutely ridiculous to imply that because of your religion, which the 'offending' parties may or may not follow, they shouldn't be able to do what they want with their own bodies. By your logic, why even have sex with someone of the opposite sex? You'd admit there's more to it than reproduction. Love isn't sex but if two people are in love there's no reason why they shouldn't do it... two people in love can abstain and people who have nothing but lust for one another can go at it like rabbits... they're totally separate. Ridiculous.Josiah wrote:Hi! Though Saber, why does love between two people of the same gender have to go that far? You can love someone and be really close to them without sex or marriage, it's called friendship. The gay/lesbian issue is really about sexual attraction, not love (though a lot of people don't want to admit that). If loving someone enough means you should be able to marry and have sex with them, you can use that same argument to support a whole lot of far less accepted practices including polygamy, incest, pedophillia, and beastiality. If you're ok with all of those, that's one thing. If you're not, then you're admitting that there's a point when love isn't enough.
There's something in the air that's different, Josiah. There's something different when you're in love with a girl having sex or not than if you're with a close friend of yours that's a girl. And while I'm straight and I can't vouch for it, I have no reason to believe it isn't the same way. Silver says it well here:Josiah wrote:Hi! But you can spend a lot of time around someone of the same gender, really care for them, and really like having them around, even live with them, but unless you add sex to the mix (or sexual contact, even if it doesn't go quite all the way), what you have is a really close friendship.
Adding onto Silver's first remarks: Privatize marriage. Take the government right out of the whole thing. But marriage is almost symbolic. Oh, and you two are adorable.Silver wrote:You can't control who you fall in love with; it just... happens. But falling in love is definitely different from being a close friend, no matter how you look at it!

Hey.
In other news, I've decided I'm going to call my school's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Lately, I've been feeling the coldness from within that is all too familiar from times in high school spent depressed. I talked with my ex over the weekend (about a lot of things), and she eventually suggested I call them, as they have been a great help to her. Finally seeking professional help for my problems makes them seem so much more real and makes it more difficult to go into denial about them, so it's a tad intimidating, especially when I can feel so perfectly fine and wonder why I've been worried that I'm getting depressed again at all. Then it can suddenly all come over me and it's hard to breathe. Bleh.

Cornell weather is an adventure. One day, snow. The next, warm (well, relatively speaking). The next, bitterly cold and windy. Trying to figure out how to dress in the morning is always a challenge.Blastotoise wrote:So how about about that weather?

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
wow, conversation topics got all serious since I was here last.
I'd just like to remind everyone that even if younger people aren't replying to these threads that there might be kids reading this due to the nature of the main sight being a pokemon comic. Nothing bad seems to have been said so far, but might be worth steering the conversation topic of the nature of relationships away from sex before it starts to get to descriptive.
In other news, I'm on the last leg of Ni No Kuni. I have the last land mass and castle then I'm done, but I'm at level 55 and they suggest level 70 at least before I go into that battle, so I need to do some level grinding.
Great.

I really need to be consistent on when I visit! These posts are riduclously serious! I like the tone of it, because there is randomness with it. Shauni, I do agree that kids coming here with these kind of convos could be an issue, but we're all mature and we all know limits. I'm fairly certain we can show restrain! If not, maybe we could make like a "Serious topics" thread of something of the like. I'. Honestly not quite sure which is the best method of approach, but it's my two cents! I need to stop typing, my bio teacher is looking at me with suspicion, oh crap! Anyways, have a good day everyone!
I thought Snivy was a grass version of Cyndaquil, that's the reason for my nickname, oh yeah check out my Youtube channel, grassaquilUV. (easy to remember, isn't it?)

Well, if anyone wants to continue, I'll just go ahead and start the topic "Saying More Than Just Hi to Josiah: ADULTS ONLY 18+"
...No I'm just kidding that would be weird. Plus I'm pretty sure most of you aren't 18 yet. ...Are you? How many of you little kids have turned 18 while I wasn't looking? You guys all need to cut it out with that "growing up" thing; I will not tolerate any more of it.
And while we're on the subject of weather... Josiah, how's the weather in Florida this time of year? Because I miiiight just be taking a trip to Disney at this time next year. Hopefully.
I acknowledge that, because I've said this, you're going to end up moving back to Colorado or something like that before then...

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! Shauni does make a good point. I suppose I could create a thread or area for 18+ type discussions, but I don't think I could put an actual age restriction on it, just lock it to all but specific members. Anyway, it's probably a good time for a topic change anyway, I think most of us have already given our opinions on the issue.
Moving on to the weather... Weather in Florida at this time of year is...very inconsistant. When I was at Disney a week and a half ago, you really needed a good jacket. But a few days after that it was sunny and in the mid 70's - low 80's. Orlando weather is generally better than where I am though, and tends to stay more in the 60's - 70's during most of the winter / early spring. Though rain (both light and heavy) can be pretty common.
Today though... Well, Orlando is probably ok and the town where I live isn't too bad, just a bit rainy. But a lot of Northern Florida, including where I work, is in the midst of a pretty massive storm. There was a flood warning earlier (though I think it ended), and a tornado watch which may be going for a couple more hours. The rain was horrible on the way to work, I could barely see half the time. Plus, I had to turn around twice because roads were blocked by fallen trees and the road I eventually did end up taking was half blocked by another fallen tree. You'd think they'd maybe cancel classes on a day like this but no. Even when there was the big tropical storm last summer (which was even worse, though I wasn't around), they only canceled classes on one day and that was the day after the storm ended.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Moi,
Hey...Huh, yeah...so...uh...weather, I suppose. New York is cloudy, somewhat gloomy, and a bit chilly; around 30 degrees F. In other words, a usual New York winter. A girl in my Chemistry lab today was complaining about getting a sunburn from being down in Florida over break last week. I honestly prefer our nice, chilly winter weather. Perfect weather to huddle up inside next to a radiator with a soft blanket and the internet...or a good book, whichever you prefer.
So...I've been practicing a new style with some of my drawings. I'm trying out drawing more realistically, but still keeping some cartoonish or amine-like elements. It actually doesn't look that bad to me. If I have the time, I'll post some pictures in my art thread.
And don't worry, Silver. I'm still 16. I haven't grown up quite yet...though compared to some people at my school, I do seem to be maturing faster, but I haven't lost my child-like charm!
...Oh, wow that last bit sounded corny. Do you start saying things like that more often when you get older? I hope not, I don't want to end up like one of those old people who always seem to be quoting old movies/shows/books and use those weird little sayings that were popular when they were younger.
Speaking of which...When my generation grows up, what will their weird "old" sayings be?...
Hmm...well, I suppose I'll take my leave to ponder that thought now.
Stay radical people! Dif-tor heh smusma!

I don't think we need an 18 only area. Stuff like that could be done in PMs and stuff if people are really bothered. If you want to make an area like that though I think that would be a good compromise to having 18+ conversations in an "everyone looking at it" thread like this one.
When I was in Florida in 2006 it rained a lot of the time. I all my years of rain (and we get a lot here) I have never had warm rain like when I was there,

Hey.
Yesterday night after my exam I was walking to another part of campus and it was raining. After practicing for two hours, I left that part of campus and walked back to my dorm. During that 20 min walk, it snowed, freezing rained, hailed, and rained on me. Today, on my walk to class, I was also treated to a lovely wintery mix.
Now to finish my lab report that's due later today as well as a problem set ahhh I hate being so behind damn you exam period!!!

Hey.
Every type of precipitation is falling from the sky at once help
IN OTHER NEWS I have no real other news. Plans in my life right now involve doing work and not sleeping and trying not to bomb my audition on Friday and then drinking away my sorrows on Saturday night* and then catching up on all the work that my stupid exam period is making me fall behind on. OH and more rehearsals and fun stuff like that GOOD THING I HAVE LOTS OF SODA or maybe I should start drinking coffee
*the drinking away my sorrows part was a joke I promise I'm not an alcoholic. One of our alums is coming back for the weekend and we're all playing drinking games with him and there will be tacos and it will be lovely. And classy. Because trumpets are classy.**
**lawlz trumpets aren't classy. But we do like tacos.
