Hi! No real comment on Christmas, but Chanukah isn't too far off for me. I really should make a point of baking (well, technically frying) some latkes and sufganiyot before vacation since I probably won't get a chance to to so after that. I'm going to need a lot of oil...

Also, finally beat Black 2. Would of sooner but been busy enough to where I only got maybe an hour or 2 at a time to play.

We have 1400 pages on "Saying Hi to Josiah!" w00t

Also, it looks like we will be re-homing our Rabbit Fudge. We got him when our dog Leah died, but hes not really filling the gaping void left. We have decided to get another dog but its not fair to Fudge, so we will re-home him before we get one.

Anyone North West of England interested (yeah right! I'm the only Brit here!) PM me and I'll send pics.

Hi! Yep, 1,400 pages and close to 21,000 posts.

Nothing too special going on with me at the moment. Today is my next to last day of classes. Monday is the last day of class and then finals week runs Tuesday through the following Monday (Wouldn't Monday - Friday make a lot more sense?). I actually don't use my final exam periods much because of the way I structure my classes and the really tight deadlines the college gives to submit students' final grades, so I'll basically be using the time to grade and, if I finish that early, get some things ready for next semester. Grading has to be finished on the Tuesday right after finals week ends (I feel sorry for professors who have to run finals on that Monday) and then there's a couple of "there's nothing in particular you need to be doing but we're going to make you come to work anyway" days before the start of winter break. Gotta wonder who creates the schedules at this place...

Tonight I'm going to Nando's and then bowling with my friends from work for Christmas, but first I must go to there office and throw tinsel everywhere! (I work in a different building than most of them now, and my office is to small for a tree).

As I don't have to look at it all day, I will make it as tacky as possible! Mwhahaha!

Hi! Is it normal for college/university professors to be in charge of recruiting and marketing for their program? I mean, beyond answering questions about it and advising students. Isn't that what the marketing department gets paid for? I don't mind helping out (so long as it doesn't interfere with my actual job), but that's completely outside my area of expertise.

I think so, actually. I know at my college they do it in a sort of rotation - one of the professors from the program is "Department Coordinator", and then it changes the next. A professor I had last semester complained that she wasn't able to provide as much office hours as she wanted to because she was stuck with extra work with marketing. But I believe they only gave it to professors that had been around for a while and knew the program, so it's not like anyone got stuck with it their first year at the school.

Hi! Well, it's technically my second year and I'm the only professor in my program so yeah... Like I said, I don't mind helping out so long as it's not too much of a time drain, but I seem to be expected to know a whole lot of things about both the college and surrounding school system that no one ever bothered to tell me.

Ok ok so hold on guys. A Jew just invited us all to Christmas party. But like... don't they do that hah-new-car thing? Or am I thinking of black people? I just don't even know any more, homies! But he probably wouldn't buy any booze, because he's CHEAP! I'll just have my own Christmas party. With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the Christmas party!
