Hi! Welcome back, Marluxia! Good luck at the new school!

In response to Shauni, usually if I force myself to work on something for a while, I start getting interested in it again. Occasionally I do have to go back and re-do a bit of what I did while forcing myself, but usually it turns out pretty decently.

Cha!

I do try to do that myself for a while, but when its very time consuming and you have not enjoyed it for ages, I think its time to call it quiets.
I unfortunately also do this is gaming, so I spend hours on a game and end up not finishing it.

Hey.

Heading home for Thanksgiving tomorrow! 6 hour car drive, wheeeee!

Very excited to see a bunch of people. Lots of catching up to do. Lots of food to eat. Lots of sleep to catch up on. Lots of homework and studying to do, too... WHEE

SO some members of the trumpet section + other random people had a thanksgiving dinner last night. It was cute. I somehow ended up cooking part of it, but it was all a lot of fun. It just felt so college-y... scrounging around for dishes, making due with what we could find, improvising where necessary. Just me and a couple other people working in the kitchen to put together a meal. Then we had a cute little set up in the living room with an actual table (the one that's usually only used for beer die, but it had a tablecloth now!) and couches and mismatched silverware and plates and red solo cups with soda (or wine, if you preferred) and it was lovely. Just a really nice, college-esque experience.

Also, my last football game was on Saturday. The way they pass on the drum major-ness (I really can't think of a better word for that) is the most adorable thing ever. Aaah. Then we have the senior concert, where every senior gets a chance to conduct a song. Needless to say, some of them were godawful, but there were a surprising amount that really knew what they were doing. But playing so many songs is brutal for trumpets. So much high notes. So much chops hurting. And then I almost passed out when we were playing our Alma Mater and I was playing the descant part. Holding high notes for exceedingly long periods of time + exhaustion = world spinning around you and almost toppling over. Wheee! Lucky there's two people on the descant, so my bud covered for me there. I still got a compliment afterwards from one of the incredibly talented seniors, so that was great. I love my band. Wah. Regardless, way excited to go home and play with my high school band at the Thanksgiving game. Should be fun!
May the Triforce be with you.

I started talking about you guys yesterday to one of my friends. That's why you never tell anyone anything, because if you do you just start missing everyone. And it looks like everyone has been missing everyone. You guys were all a huge part of me growing up, because I guess I joined I was 10 years old. I am a better person for you guys. I really do believe that.

Saber, good on you for everything. I watched it unravel on Facebook the other week. It seems so backwards to me that there's any stigma at all around homosexuality. I think that in 30 years it'll be looked back upon the same was as we look back upon the past treatment of black people and of women. People are people and people rock.

I won the Most Fun Poster award this year? That's great! There's a comic for me. Wow. Awesome.

Luke, if you read this, find me on Facebook. That'd be cool!

I guess Obama won. At least he's better than Romney. Regardless either Paul or Johnson were better. Whatever. America.

Socialization is a hell of a lot of work. That's the problem with being an introvert I guess. It's just tiring as all hell. I'm stepping out. I'm meeting new people. It keeps getting better and better and better.

I'm into music a ton and you all know it. I'll give you guys a few life-changing albums to check out.
Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Elliott Smith - Either/Or
Red House Painters - Down Colourful Hill
Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

Also, read The Great Gatsby. It's by far my favourite piece of literature I've ever read.
And watch Breaking Bad of course. And if you're into comedy Arrested Development. And Freaks and Geeks.

The world is a beautiful place.

Moi,

...My internet derped out while I was writing this post out the first time, so now I have to write it out again...I'm a bit annoyed...

Anyway! Two day school week! This is why I give thanks on Thanksgiving. Getting a break from homework and tests is always a relief and welcomed with open arms. Plus, after Tuesday is over with, I'll be able to sleep and watch YouTube over the five-day weekend, aw yeah!

So, recently, I've taken up a bit of writing. I've had an art block over my head for the past two weeks or so and I needed to release my creativity in some way or another. So far, I've written about eight pages of a story or mine. It's rather relaxing, actually, though I still need to draw/doodle when I get the chance. It's almost like an addiction or habit.

And, Cheez, for one thing, good seeing you again, and another thing...when I saw that you wrote "People are people and people rock", I instantly thought of Depeche Mode's song "People are People".
"I can't understand what makes a man hate another man...
People are people so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully?"
Man, these are the things that I think about almost daily. We're all living together on the same planet, all traveling around the same sun, and on and on into the vastness of it all, so why make other people, or yourself, miserable while you're here?

So, yeah. In the end, the world, the universe even (or multiverse, if, like me, that's your view of things), is awesome. Just remember, while you're here, to be excellent to each other, always look in the bright side of life, and party on. (Yes, those are all quotes from movies, I just think they're very good rules to live by.)

Stay radical people! Peace off!

Because people are selfish. We all want to survive and live the best we can. We all want friends and money and... stuff and there just isn't enough of it for everyone to have as much as they want. We fight other people to get what we want. If someone else gets it, we're jealous and spiteful and we try to bring them down so we don't feel as bad about ourselves.

Black people had no rights because white people felt threatened. Women had no rights because men were greedy. Gays have no rights because straight people can't keep stable marriages anymore and they don't want anyone else to.

But that doesn't mean people are inherently... bad. Is it "bad" to want to live successfully? Is it "bad" to want to feel like you're equal to everyone else? Of course not. People aren't "bad"...

They're just damn stupid! Everyone is dumb! We sacrifice so much to have money that we end up being miserable, and we bring other people down to raise ourselves up, so that in the end everyone's on the bottom! And we don't even realize it - we're all totally ignorant to other people's lives and thoughts and feelings and until we learn how to read minds and body swap it's going to stay that way. Hell, even then, who knows if people will even be able to open their minds enough to grasp what goes on outside their own world...

...So uh, nice to see you again Cheesey. I feel the same way sometimes, about looking through old posts and cringing. I joined when I was twelve. Yeah... I definitely grew up here, too. I'm the oldest in my family - didn't have any older brothers or sisters or anything. But I think between Josiah, Jeff (/Ibun) and shauni, they did the job pretty well. I hope I was able to do the same for someone else - I know I picked on you guys, but that's how it is, right? We all got along pretty well in the end.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! Nice to "see" you, Cheez! You should post more.

Some of us really have known each other a long time, haven't we? I think we've all grown up a lot since the early days of the forums. Though all the additional activity back then was rather fun.

On a totally different subject, I was all set to go to Best Buy on Black Friday...or more like Thanksgiving night, since they start their Black Friday at midnight this year. Personally, I'd rather stay up late than wake up really early or camp out all night, so that was fine. They've got this really good Black Friday price on 32GB SD cards, which I've been wanting one or two of, plus they have a new camera I've been eying for $100 off. Not that I need a new camera, I'm happy with mine... But this is the latest model in the same series, it's got twice the zoom (20x!) a whole bunch of convenient new features, and is only like half as thick. Really, it's just all around awesome. Anyway, that was the plan. But then my brother texted me earlier to let me know that Best Buy's web site had the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy extended cut on Blu-ray for $40 today only. With the Hobbit coming out soon, this seems like a good time to re-watch them so I took a look, and I remembered that I have enough points on my Best Buy card for a $10 gift card (annoyingly, I was one point short of a $15 one). When I logged into their rewards page to get the certificate, I saw an ad saying that, starting today, rewards members could get access to most of their Black Friday deals online. So I ordered my memory cards, camera, LotR set, and a birthday present for my brother all in one fell swoop. Got free shipping (including gift shipping to my brother) and everything. Really convenient, though it kinda defeats the whole Black Friday going out early and waiting in lines thing...which is good, just not as... Fun? Exciting? Cold and tiring? I really shouldn't miss it. I mean, I already passed up on camping out for a Wii U and all... And I'm totally rambling. Long story short, I could all my shopping done without having to leave my apartment. Kinda of crazy how early some stores are starting their Black Friday shopping this year though. It's becoming more of a week than a day.

Oh, Silver. Everyone being able to read each others' thoughts really wouldn't work out too well. Kino's Journey (a really awesome and thought provoking anime) had an episode about that which approached it in a very serious and realistic way. In the end, it drove people apart instead of bringing them together and, having considered it myself on various occasions since, I really can't see it turning out any differently.

Wait, really? How did you go about doing that? The Best Buy thing. There were a couple of things we wanted to pick up, but I'll be out of state and Colly will be at work at midnight Black Friday. Being able to get them online would be great...

Also, I've watched Kino's Journey... well, some of it, anyway. Couldn't find all of it online and DVDs are rare. But I think I watched that episode at least. And well, it might still work if there was some sort of limiter on it or... something. Like an emotion reader. Or... a home life situation reader. You know, if it could indicate like, "this person's father beats him" or "this person lives on the streets" or "this person has a pet dog and he kicks it" and stuff.

That just turned my sh**ty day into a nice day. Thanks Silver. I'm really happy you feel that way

I can't say I grew up with everyone here, I think I was like 19 already when I joined the forum, but I'd like to think that this sight made me a better adult. I've met a lot of nice people from this sight, and my life would be a litter dimmer without the experiences of this sight, like RPing with you all in ROM, the support of members with positive posts when I'm down and basically knowing you all.

Lets keep on trucking for as long as we can, because road trips are remembered for a life time

Hi! You need to log into Best Buy's reward zone site and there was a link there... But I just checked and it's not showing up now so it might have been a limited time thing.

I love Kino's Journey, and got the DVDs back when they were still in production. I recommend giving another go at tracking it down sometime. Back on subject thought, mind reading would just be incredible tricky. There's so many things we hide when dealing with other people. Like how much you dislike your teacher, an annoying customer, etc. Pretending to agree with someone to be polite. Even random sub-conscious thoughts that we can't control. I mean, how many times have you been walking down the street and thought "wow that person is fat" or something like that? It'd make any sort of relationship extremely difficult to maintain.

A life situation reader could be interesting, though it could also lead to people actively ignoring those with serious problems. Which is nice for the people doing the ignoring, but you'd be creating a group of outcasts who might have a difficult time "reforming" if everyone else is shunning them.

Mind reading is VERY bad idea. If our thoughts make us who we are, and we can hear each others thoughts, don't you lose the self in the massive whole of humanity? Your ideas drowned out in everyone elses. It would sound like a bar full of people talking loudly with no music, a jumbled mess.

I think our thoughts are the only sacred thing left in the word any more, and they should remain our own. it is that line that has to be drawn in a world were people can share nearly everything.

Passive mind reading is different, if you were able just to hear one persons though, but again, those horrible thoughts that just pop into our head and are gone the next...if someone heard those it would be a disaster.

You need to watch the the movie "the invention of lying. " A world without lies is a world were thoughts are spoke as they are thought. Lying is a very important social requirement, and can be a good thing in protecting people from the truth and a comfort when it is to much.

You can't even do the "don't worry everything is going to be okay" if they can then read the thought "There is no hope"....

Hi! That was a pretty interesting (and amusing) movie. I didn't really appreciate its implications about religion, but the concept of a world where everyone always has to tell the complete truth was clever.

I agree with the religion comment, but I think the movie had a point about that worlds Cinema.

"The complete history of spoons" what a movie....Lying is needed for fiction, and not everything in life is interesting LOL
