Hi.

Finally got internet at my rented house today, after we were supose to get it on Tuseday. College started up for me and one bit of good news (other then internet, though still have issues with my router) is on Tuseday I found out my University just hired someone to start a masters program that I am planning on going into. Currently there is only one other college in the state that offers it and by the time I'm done with my B.A. of History degree the master program should be up and running and I can just stay here and go on with my masters.

He y'all! Sober posting time!

Don't worry, I have no intention of going to any frat parties any time soon. Just band parties, which are great. There's no pressure to drink, and some of the upperclassmen stay sober to watch out for us. I was personally friggin' escorted back to my dorm and given tons of water to drink (no hangover. Bam.). But, yeah, it's not something I plan to do on a regular basis... it was just college and I decided to go for it before classes got too serious and such.

ANYWHO I really love it here. It's really pretty, and I have no 8 AM classes which makes me crazy happy. Regardless, I do need to get moving for my next class, so I'm off! Ta!

Hi! Nothing much going on at the moment. Just working and hoping Isaac dosn't screw with the weather here too badly. The humidity today is horrible. Stepped outside this morning and it felt like I was walking into a steam room. Only one week till labor day, though. Assuming the weather is decent, I'll probably take one day out of that weekend to do something fun in Orlando. Unfortunately, it's looking like most of my friends here already have plans. Guess I need to adjust my scheduling practices a bit, I'm used to friends who hardly ever plan anything more than a few days in advance.

Hi! Nice to hear from you, Shauni. You really should post more. Actually, everyone should. Things have been really dead around here for the last couple of weeks.

Everyone with Steam should also vote for Car Washer on Greenlight. Though, with the rampant ammounts of trolling going on with pretty much every single game up for votes, I have my doubts that anything will ever get passed unless Valve completely revamps things. I mean, even games like Mutant Mudds (which was released on 3DS Ware a while back to strong sales and excellent reviews) are getting far, far, far more negative votes than positive.

I gave a positive vote to Car Washer yesterday... and it said it brought it to 0% of the necessary votes to get it up. Yeah...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! Yeah, no one outside of Valve has any idea what the neccessary number of votes is and it hasn't been confirmed whether or not negative votes cancel out positive ones (though from what I've seen I'm thinking yes). So far, I've yet to see any game with a total above 4%.

Today, I'm going to tell you about the fun I've had naming cats.

All right, so shortly after we moved into the new house, this little cat started coming to our porch and begging for food. She was unhealthily bony and clearly pregnant, so, I mean, what were we supposed to do? We started feeding her. She was dubbed to be "Fantasia" because she was black and pregnant at a young age. ...That one wasn't my decision. So she's got two little babies, and I dub them to be "Buddy" and "Mister Friend" because that's the sort of thing I'd name cats. We started feeding them too, of course. Then Fantasia goes out and gets herself knocked up again, and comes back with two more babies... to keep with the theme, they were dubbed "Pal" and "Comrade" (I was already grasping at straws there, I'll admit). Well, Fantasia wandered off and we haven't seen her in months. So did Buddy, rather unfortunately, as I had just gotten him a collar and was all ready to start housetraining him... but that left us with Mister Friend, Pal, and Comrade hanging around. Well, Mister Friend had babies. Yeah... My mom suggested we change her name, but I refused so she's Mister Friend.

I named her babies Madam Friend, Friend Junior, and Señor Friend. When Pal had babies, I called them Palindrome and Pal 9000.

Then Comrade had babies. Marx, Stalin, Castro, and Kim Jong-il.

Today, Kim Jong-il and Stalin were playing in my garden.

Castro is very shy, but will come out to play when given warm milk.

Marx is so fluffy! But he's a social wreck and doesn't get along well with others.

Moi,

What, Silver? No Lenin?

Yeah, I've been a bit inactive as of recently. School starts in a few days, so I've been getting stuff together. My sleep schedule, on the other hand...well, just look at the time I'm posting this (for people in time zones other then mine, it's currently 3:18 am). I just might have a little tiny bit of insomnia. Possibly.

So, my class schedule for my Junior year looks...interesting. Because I'm continuing German and because I'm in the GOAL class, my schedule was very tight, so I only have two electives this year.
First semester, I'll be taking, against my wishes, Ceramics I. It was the only art class I could fit into my already packed schedule and, gosh dang it, I need art!
Next semester, I'll have Communication Systems for an elective. At first, I wanted Video Gaming, a course that basically is a crash course on everything video games, from designing and building a successful video game, to how they impact our society.
Communication Systems sounds interesting enough, though. I don't exactally know how to explain it, so I'll just quote what they say in the description of the class. "This course is about communicating...Emphasis is given to hands-on learning through a variety of activities...analysis of communication systems, digital imaging through photography and video, manipulation and editing of digital imagery, graphic communication, desktop publishing and development of web site/pages."
So, yeah. This year sounds like a whole bunch of fun...I guess.

Other then that, I discovered Reddit in June, so hopefully my grades don't suffer too horribly...

Anyway, I'm just up late at night, on the internet, listening to Queen. Pretty normal night for me.

Stay radical people! Peace off!

Hi! Speaking from experience, teaching how to design and build a successful video game, or any game for that matter, takes quite a lot of classes. Trying to do it in one, especially when adding in topics like how games impact society (which can easily fill another class) seems overly ambitious, or just really niave. But hey, the fact that your high school has a video game class in kinda cool.

Interesting cat names, Silver. Though I don't think I'll ever be asking for your help naming anything.

The trolling on Greenlight seems to have slowed drastically. I assume the worst offenders either got bored, ran through all the games, or are taking a break for the weekend, though all the negative votes they tossed out are going to make it really hard for most games to get the neccessary approval rates under the current system. I seem to have found a different problem with Greenlight though. Namely that a lot of Steam users don't understand what indie games are. The proper definition of an indie game is a game made by a small independently owned studio without ties to a big publisher or the like. Problem is, a lot of people seem to be thinking of indie as a genre and expecting all indie titles to be artsy atmospheric titles like Braid and Limbo. Braid's a great game (I've got mixed feeling about Limbo) but it's one game with a certain genre, graphical style, and story style, not a yardstick that every other indie game should be measured up to.

Moi,

You'd be amazed at some of the people in my school. There are a whole lot of really smart people here who would probably be able to take in all that the class touches on. Maybe it also can get through so much stuff because of the way the periods are spaced out. We run on a six day cycle, eight 45 minute classes every day. For every class, except science, math, and gym, there is one drop day per cycle. (Science has one 90 minute "block" lab one day per cycle and gym is every other day.)
But, yeah. I was kind of surprised that there was a video gaming class as well. I guess my school is a bit of a high-horse kind of school.

I was considering Lenin over Marx for a while, seeing as the others were all dictators and Marx just wrote a book, but I figured no collection of commies would be complete without Marx. And Stalin just has a better ring to it than Lenin when talking to kittens. "Hey, little Stalin! You want to come play with the mousey toy? Come get the little mousey toy, Stalin!" ...You know, that sort of thing. But if she had a fifth kitten, it would have been Lenin. Hopefully we'll be taking her to get fixed before there's more...

And Josiah, don't forget that this is a high school class, not a college one. They're not worried about getting these kids masters degrees in communication or game design, it's just a bit of basic info to help them when they do take detailed classes in college. I took a Digital Forensics class in high school and all I really learned about was the dangers of putting my credit card info online and illegal downloading...

Hi! What I meant, Poison, wasn't that the students wouldn't be smart enough to understand the material but that there's far far far too much material to possibly fit into a single class. I suspect Silver is right though, it'll just touch on a lot of basics without getting into much detail on anything. Not neccessarily a bad idea if it's done right, a lot of college students start studying game design with absolutely no idea what it entails.

Hey.

So, Silver, you've finally become a crazy cat lady? Jealous.

EYYYY so just chillin' at Cornell, doin' my Cornell thing. Went bowling today. Watched The Room yesterday (which is one of those so-bad-it's-good movies that was thoroughly impressively awful). Auditioned for something, got a callback, then got rejected. Ate much too much ice cream. Stayed up 'til 3:30 AM.

COLLEGE!

But yeah marching band and pep band are wicked fun. Not much more interesting to say! Ta!

Not guilty! I plead not guilty! My mom's the cat lady, that's nothing new. My grandmother's been training her to be one since she was young. I just happen to live at home and assumed naming rights to all kittens, because my mom would call them things like Whiskers, Mittens, Princess, and Ricky Ricardo.
