He defeated some of those too. The god was in the newest OAVs.

Keep in mind, Josiah, the Chousin (Washu, Tsunami, and Tokimi) are all considered gods of the Tenchi Muyo Universe. They clearly stated that Tenchi was stronger than the three of them, even they couldn't control his powers otherwise the entire universe would be destroyed.

Tenchi Masaki is the avatar of Kami Tenchi (the glowing white figure of himself he meets). To prove that Tenchi is a god in his own universe, he erased Z from entire existence, turned back time on Earth before Z destroyed half the planet, and even prevented the fabric of space-time collapsing once (when he was in that world with the role film.)

P.S. I'm interested in continuing the debate in which Goku of DBZ is not the strongest anime/manga character ever. It would be off-topic to talk about it in this thread, though, so I'd like to request making a new thread.

EVANGELION SPOILER WARNING

What exactly were Shinji, Asuka, and Rei doing in that "instrumentality" thing in the last two episodes of Eva? Let alone, what was it? I knew it had to do with helping Shinji and Asuka through their whiny and pessimistic attitude, as well as Rei's silence.

Ok. Here's the deal with Eva's ending. Taken by itself, it makes absolutely no sense. If you want to know what's going on, you need to watch the movie The End of Evangelion. It shows the events leading up to Shinji's crazy mind trip in the last two episodes, as well as what's going on in the real world at that time. The good news it that it explains pretty much everything and ties up all the loose ends. The bad news is that it does so in a horrible way (not that the movie is poorly done, but let's just say that it can in no way be considered a happy ending in any way, shape, or form).

Personally, I pretty much lost all interest in Eva after that. Other than the opening theme, which is still awesome. I'm kinda interested in the current Rebuild of Evangelion movies because they've promised a better ending, but we'll see if they follow through...

The End of Evangelion was a lead-up into the last two episodes? I thought it was an alternate ending? Anywho, if it was an alternate ending, I'd much rather watch The End of Evangelion rather than episodes 25 and 26. Despite everyone in the whole world dying, Rei disappearing, and Asuka and Shinji being the last two people on Earth, I thought it was a good ending overall in comparison to the disappointment of episode 26. It could've been better, I agree. A lot better minus all the unfitting music and the random scenes breaking the fourth wall.

In response to your opinion from the "Stuff I've Watched Recently" thread, I'd understand why you think it's overrated. In my opinion, it's really not overrated at all. I agree it gets way too much attention plus an enormous fanbase (perhaps bigger than even Dragonball's or Naruto's during the 90's) though I'd also consider myself apart of that fanbase.

I don't really like Shinji as a character, and in fact he was extremely annoying in The End of Evangelion. Though I could actually relate to him in a couple different ways. Minus his whiny attitude, I used to be very pessimistic like him and thought everybody hated me. Until I found God, of course, I became much happier in my own life. Just like when Rei/Lilith came to him, Shinji's attitude improved somewhat, too.

I believe people don't enjoy Evangelion so much because for the following reasons. It's not really much of an action anime, but more of a suspense, horror, and a thriller anime. The show is more about a mystery on these three children, rather than just three kids piloting super robots fighting evil. Two. Shinji, Rei, and Asuka, too, you'll either love them or hate them. You will either find out a way to relate to the characters somehow, or you can just pity them. For me, it went both ways. Finally, stories like the Da Vinci Code, Inception, and Sherlock Holmes will all give the viewers questions about the story's ending. Many people will complain, I've done it before, but I seem to like that kind of cliffhanger in the end of Evangelion.

It's precisely the same reaction I felt after finishing Tenchi Muyo. So many questions in the end, my mind was blown. Yet, I still loved the ending to The End of Evangelion, despite not being the way I hoped it would end. I respect your opinion, too, Josiah. I've had friends who watched the show and thought of it in the same light as you did.

Still though, my favorite mecha series remains to be Gundam Wing. Even then, the more I get into Evangelion, my interest in Gundam gradually decreases.

Episodes 25 & 26 are what's going on in Shinji's head between his dissapearance and return in The End of Evangelion. I'm not the type of guy who thinks everything needs a happy ending, and I'll give the movie props for tying up everything. But, in my book, killing every off just doesn't make for a good ending. It's like, what was the point of everything they were doing in the rest of the series if it's just going to end like that?

If you like Eva, I've hared that Raxaphon does that sale a whole lot better. Haven't seen it myself though (I'm saving it for after I finish Sailor Moon).

Gundam Wing is my favorite much series. Though several other Gundam series (08th MS Team, original SEED, etc) are fairly close. Macross Frontier is pretty awesome as well.

I will admit one problem I have with Evangelion's fans. Many of them only watch the show because they think the girls are hot (Rei, Asuka, and Misato) and it created quite a large hentai and yuri fanbase for the show. While I don't have a problem with it, I sometimes feel it goes out way of hand. Plus, since I do like Shinji, he also seems to be most hated amongst the fans... Rei happens to be my favorite character of the show, but fans do give her some awkward attention.

I've heard of Rahxephon. I don't really plan on watching any other mecha shows beyond post-2000 due to Gundam SEED failing to impress me. Code Geass, perhaps, but that's rather unlikely. I'm interested in watching Zeta Gundam, 08th MS Team, and the movie Char's Counterattack (probably without watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam.) Macross Frontier I've heard is good, but like Code Geass, I highly likely won't be watching it.

Macross Frontier is definitely different. I heavily recommend that one.

Anyways, the Evangelion fanbase can be an annoying one. Particularly, they believe that Evangelion is the deepest anime ever. To this day, fans still analyze the series like crazy, and whine that there will never be an anime as deep as Eva.

I'd like to point out that Code Geass really isn't a mech anime. There's some mech in it, but the plot doesn't revolve around them in the least. Geass is part Death Note, part school life, part war, and all around excellent. Calling it a mech show is like saying that Sailor Moon S is a racing series because Haruka drives a car.

As for Macross Frontier, it and the Macross franchise in general focus less on the mechs than most mech shows. They're more about music and romance.

Finally, I have to say that giving up on any mech shows released post 2000 just because you didn't like one is kind of ridiculous. One series doesn't make the entire genre (or even the entire franchise). I might as well give up on all fighting anime released in the past 20 years because I didn't really care for Fist of the North Star. Or perhaps I should give up fantasy movies since Eragon sucked so much a few years back. See my point? It's better to just watch the first two or three episodes of each series and judge it on its own merits.

Odd. My friend who's a mecha nerd tells me Code Geass is a mecha show. Oh well.

Most post 2000 anime isn't my type, let alone. I've watched the Shonen Trio (Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece) in addition to lots of popular shows 2001-present and I didn't find them very fascinating in comparison to the 90's-pre stuff. Perhaps since you say Macross Frontier is different, I'll consider it now and I'll put it on my "to-watch" list.

One Piece gets better and better the further you get into it. But if you're looking for newer shows that are "different" from the norm, check out:

Death Note (Brilliant and thought provoking thriller.)
Code Geass (As previous described.)
Eden of the East (Very unique premise.)
Magical Girl (aka. Puella Magi) Madoka Magika (A completely differnet look at the magical girl genre.)
Macross Frontier (Mechs, romance, and an amazing soundtrack.)
Monster (Real world mystery / thriller with really well developed characters.)
Beck (A show about an indie rock band.)

Just to name a few. Oh, now that I'm thinking of mech series, you might also want to take a look at Zegapain and Bokurano if you don't mind shows that get really really depressing.

Oh by the way, if anyone here hasn't watched Baccano! yet? Do so. Do it right this moment. I'll even help you out.

Link!

1930s America, Gangsters and crazy immortal alchemist guys. Also, Isaac and Miria. You're watching it? Yes. Yes you are.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Can't promise I'll watch all of them since I'm only planning on watching nostalgic anime from growing up, but I'll take these seven shows into consideration in the future.
