Round 4: The Village of Shadows

[Winters Rage]

"That's... curious... I wonder if I can see that any better...." Chris moved along the wall to try to get a better view of the patterns.

[Josiah]

CHRIS
After walking east for several minutes, Chris was able to get a better view of the lines. They formed the numbers 3, 5, 7, and 8 (in that order).

[Winters Rage]

"Hmm... 3578... devise by 42... 85.190476 repeating... Hmm... Oh well, best examine the town closely." Chris said, turning towards the town scanning it.

((Are those random numbers, or do they actually serve a purpose?))

From his current position, Chris could see a large number of shops to the south and east in the village. There were some houses to the west and the park was beyond them (though it was a bit too far away for him to see).

[Dark Gentleman]

"Excuse me, but do you have any books about the village of shadows itself?" D.G. asked.

[Kaida]

"I wonder" Kaida said taking a quick look at the book, what causes the silouete look around here? She thought.

[Josiah]

D.G.
"Sure, they're right over there where that young lady is." the old man points down an aisle to a spot where a very shapely young woman is flipping through a book.


KAIDA
The answer to that question seemed to be very long and complicated, involving a lot of scientific explanations about light difussion and refraction. Certainly not something she could get a good feel for just by skimming the book.

[Dark Gentleman]

"Thank you." D.G. said as he hurried off to where the woman was. "Hey, do you know anything about a portal?" He asked the young woman as he began looking at the books. "You see, I'm competing in Portal Panic for the earth team and I'd appreciate any help finding the portal. Right now I'm not having much luck..."

[Winters Rage]

"Hmm... I think that's a park over there... I'll look there, seems like a pretty logical place to hide a portal... Hmm now how to get from here to there..." Chris said to himself tracing with his finger an intended path of travel towards the park.

[Kaida]

"Glad to know I'm not the only one that's not having much luck" Kaida said smiling at the young man, or she thought he was a young man. Seeing as skimming the book wasn't going to work she looked for the index page to see if there was some sort of summary in the book. Or anything that looked like it might help her, she was also curious about the atmosphere.
"In other words, no I have no idea where the portal is, and good to know we're on the same team." Kaida continued, holding out the other history book to him. "Take a look in that there might be something useful. I'm Kaida by the way, you must be one of the new guys on the team."

Getting to the park looked pretty easy. All Chris needed to do was walk west and, at some point, take one of the several staircases leading down off the wall.


KAIDA and D.G.
Kaida's book did have a summary, but it was very technical and made frequent references back to material covered in the previous chapters. Judging from the index, unless finding the portal required passing a test or writing a paper about the diffusion of light around the village, the book probably wasn't going to be much help.

[Dark Gentleman]

"Oh, you're on the earth team too? Cool. I'm D.G. and my power is super speed and I have an infinite pin cushion." D.G. said as he took the book she handed him. "What power/item did you get?" He asked as he turned to the first page of the book.

[Kaida]

"I got the Decidedly Dangerous Bazooka and Super Sexiness." Kaida said putting the book back on the shelf and picking up the one about notable sites in the villadge and looking trough it, a bit slower then the previous one. "Who were you with when you arrived here?"

[Winters Rage]

((D'ur, I forgot to say he followed that path =.=))
"Ok, this looks simple. Onward!" Chris said as he pointed to the sky in a dramatic fashion, resembling the pokemon yellow pokemaniacs. Then he walked down the stair case and followed his intended path toward the 'park'.

D.G. continued looking at the first page of the book and, without looking up, replied: "Wow, that bazooka sure sounds useful, but super sexiness in a world of shadows? I bet that hasn't been too helpful. Ha ha, anyway I was with Zanther, Sira, and Mickey. All of them are exploring other places, how about your teammates?"
