Besides that, nothing exciting happening lately. Still looking for someone for RealityStuck.

Hi! As far as 3D action games go, Lords of Shadow is actually pretty good. I'll agree that it borrows heavily from God of War (though the combat feels a little more fluid and the light and shadow magic make for an interesting twist) and a bit from Shadow of the Colossus (but hey, more SotC can't be a bad thing). And, from a technical standpoint, the camera isn't always positioned in the best place and the levels have way too many narrow corridors (though everything looks really good). But anyway, overall it's a very good 3D action game (way better, and less an obvious GoW rip-off than Dante's Inferno). Though, as that review mentioned, it doesn't really feel like a Castlevania game. It's not even set in the same universe (it's an alternate timeline).
Anyway, I think my interview yesterday went pretty well and I applied for some other jobs as well so now I just need to wait and see what happens.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hey.
So, my friend and her boyfriend broke up about a week ago... he just got back from the hospital yesterday. Why? He went into a depressed frenzy and cut himself so badly that he had to be whisked away. Awesome. I knew that relationship wasn't gonna end well... even on the best possible terms, there was no way that kid could be sane about it... Ugh. Life.
Today was Veteran's Day (dur) so that meant the marching band plays at two services! I played echo taps at one of them... always makes me nervous, soloing in complete and utter silence, but I did fine, no regrets. One kid, though, apparently didn't heed our band director's advice about not locking your knees while we stand around due to the fact it cuts off circulation... I saw the whole thing and (to my regret) did nothing about it... we got called to attention, he took a step forward... took a step back... then crumpled down (he fell rather well, though, no damage to the saxophone... it was impressive... and he didn't hurt himself, only tore a hole in his uniform on the knee). I felt really bad because I was like 3 feet away and I could have caught him had I acted. Ah well... At least the kid didn't pass out, like some kid apparently did a few years back. Just fell over and had to lie down for a bit before heading off to a doctor to make sure he was okay.
So, opening night for RENT is in a week. Yay. Hell w--er, that is, tech week, is next week... GONNA BE A PARTY. One of the songs was written for keyboard with a trumpet synthesizer... we didn't have one, so I transposed it for trumpet since I (convienently) also play trumpet... I may also be playing guitar for a song since our Guitar II kid has missed so many rehearsals... right now I'm playing all of his songs on keyboard, but Halloween kind of calls for a guitar duet, and me being a RENT fan, I've already learned most of it, just need to work on making faster transitions. Whee! So I might just be... tri-sectional. Rockin'.

Yikes, sorry to hear that Saber, I hope he gets better soon. The worst thing someone can do is make another person their reason, it's a surefire road to depression when they leave.
Today was Remembrance Day up in Canada. Since both my grandfathers were in the World Wars, it's a holiday I take pretty seriously. It's ood to see a lot of people still celebrating it up here

Hi! Yeah, getting "that" wrapped up in a relationship at that age, not good.
My plans for the day include baking (scones and maybe some other things), doing more Power Point work for my textbook (5 left to go), and checking out some big overstock sale they're having down town. Not sure if there will be anything good but the TV comericals mentioned a lot of electronics and game stuff so... Might be kinda busy for a while but I'll get on tonight to do a bunch of RP posts and stuff.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hey.
Ugh... dealing with that kid is just... so hard. He went and changed his profile pic to his bleeding, sliced up arm... Agh. I don't even know him that well, I can't imagine being one of his close friends and having to deal with him... that's why I knew the relationship could never end well... he was becoming so dependant on her, and saying how she was making him better and the pressure just became too much for her and she didn't have feelings for him and was kind of only still dating him because she was worried what he'd do if she stopped... the whole thing is just so messed up. We shouldn't have to deal with this kind of... I don't even know. Agh.
...Well, RENT is next week, and our Mark had an anxiety attack yesterday at rehearsal and had to go to the hospital. Whopee. And now he has mono. Kid always gets sick, we should have known it would happen the week of the show. Last year, the lead got Swine and he missed Tuesday's (I think) dress rehearsal when opening night was that coming Thurs. A bunch of the other kids also got Swine as a result. The director of the play is apparently under an extreme amount of pressure this year... it's a make-it-or-break-it show, and her job might even be on the line if it goes over poorly due to the risky content of the play. Awesome. No pressure. That's why the kid got an anxiety attack, she's been going insane with the rehearsals... Ah...
First meeting with the DI team I'm coaching this year is later today... I only get to make it to half of the meeting but... I always get nervous about meeting new people :P I hope they like me, or else coaching them could possibly be problematic :P

H! A lot is two words though, when spelled correctly anyway. Word's spellcheck taught me that a long time ago.
Quick question. In December, would you guys prefer if The Week of Randomness is the 5th - 11th or the 12th - 18th?

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hey.
So, had a sleepover at my friend's house for her birthday! It was soo much fun, especially since one of my camp friends came down for it and her and I stayed up until 4 AM :D Her sister warned her that she was gonna drunk dial her, and, sure enough, at 2 AM we got a call from her sister and I was struggling not to laugh when I could only hear one side of the conversation. We watched Rocky Horror Picture Show and Drumlike (AKA the only movie that makes marching band look frikkin' boss) and ate waaaay too much food... and I've got so much homework to do and so little time and tech week is this week WHEEEEEEEEEE
Week of Randomness works either way for me!
Uhm... that... doesn't make it... right.... just so you know.Winters Rage wrote:I say alot Dx

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Heso! Fifth to eleventh seems better. Not so close to Christmas, not so much going on. Of course, I know that wouldn't affect Josiah as much, but...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! It finally started snowing here.
I've got a possible English teaching in Japan job next year (still in early stages so the exact location and dates are still unknown). Though I've also got a potential chance at teaching a class at my university during spring semester. It might be an online only class, in which case I could take the Japan job and still teach it, or it might not. If it's not (and I don't get offered a game design or writing job, which would trump everything else) I'll have to decide between the two. Japan would be cool and it would probably pay more than teaching a single college class, but I like Phoenix and teaching a game class would be more directly related to my career... So yeah, waiting on more details on both of those before I come to any sort of decision and I'm still looking for game design jobs in the meantime.
