Round 4: The Village of Shadows

[Josiah]

GROUP 1 (Zanther, Sira, Mickey)
"As you must have seen, the area directly around the fountain is rather empty, aside from a few street carts. There really aren't any good hiding places. But you're welcome to browse our selection of town maps and brochues. Maybe something will catch your eye."


GROUP 2 (Capperoff, Takeru, Tod, Kako)
"Well we know what planet you're from now." the woman pointed out to Takeru. "Use a little common sense. If we know what planet you're from we'll know your team and race and we can reference your performance in past rounds of Portal Panic. "As for you," she turns to Capperoff, "whisper all you want but the fact that I can boh see you whispering and am standing right next to you means that I'm going to hear it. Honestly, if this is what your species' average intellect is like it's no wonder your planet is underdeveloped." Finally, she addressed Kako. "While not overly common, Portal Panic does use verbal clues from time to time so you may be telling the truth. But forgive me if I don't find you very trustworthy after your earlier claims. I think we'll strip search the lot of you before we leave, just to make sure."


CHRIS
((The Earth Team did win a bunch of money earlier and payments for things are automatically deducted from their account. But I'm not sure Chris ever had the chance to learn about that.))

"Well, we have a fairly sturdy discontinued model that's on clearance for 10,000 Shadow Tokens."


KAIDA
As she looked around, Kaida spotted a rather large stall selling "dark mysterious coats", one selling very oddly shapped jewelry, and another that looked to be selling costumes of some kind. There was also one selling very lumpy clubs of some kind.


NEO
Neo stepped into the antique store and immediately found himself surrounded by a collection of very tall vases. A narrow path wound between them, leading further into the store.

[Kaida]

Two of the stores around Kaida jumped out at her, although she thought she might as well check out the others as well, she went over to the stall selling the lumpy clubs first and went for a closer inspection.

Remembers bottle in bag and looks at them. (Hey can i reach the stuff in my bag?) "WHAIT!" Long pause. "What plant are you from?"

[Winters Rage]

((So can I not buy anything or what? And didn't Kadia use the 'credit' when we were at the restaurant in the Lounge? *Checks* Page 22, 7th and 8th post.))
"May I test-drive them? Or do I need to purchase them?" Chris asked the woman. (What are the dimensions of these wings? Wing span, highest point to lowest point and how wide?)

[Siranae]

Sira looked over at the brochures. Oh, yeah. Yeah I'll look at those. Thank you very much ma'am. She smiled at the woman and then went over to the brochures, glancing over each of them.

[Neo Zanther]

Zanther decided to have a look past the vases. Who knows what he might find.

[Josiah]

GROUP 2 (Capperoff, Takeru, Tod, Kako)
((No, you can't really move your arms much so you can't reach your stuff.))

"I already told you that knowing what planet your opponents are from can be a big advantage. So why would I tell you?"


CHRIS
((Currency exists, and varies by planet, but most things are purchased via automatic account deductions. But, like I said, Chris probably hasn't had a chance to learn about that.))

"I'm afraid we don't have a suitable testing grounds here in the village. There simply isn't enough room. But all our wings come with a money back guarentee and meet all quality standards." she said as she pointed out the wings in question.

They were very plain and looked something like jet wing in terms of shape. They were rather thin (about two inches) and went from about two and a half feet in height at the center to six inches or so at the tips. The wing span was about eight feet, but they seemed to be retractable for each transportation.


KAIDA
Kaida walked up to a rather small stall called Stan's Bad Guy Bonkers. The saleman was currently talking with another customer, leaving Kaida free to examine the clubs. They ranged in length from one to three feet, with textured grips on one end and large lumpy areas on the other. A set of signs said that they were great for self defense and described the features of the different models such as sleeping toxin injectors, a paralyzing current, and pain receptor triggers.


NEO
Neo wove his way through the vases and ended up at several rows of shelves covered in a wide assortment of objects of all shapes and sizes. ((How closely are you going to look at the contents? Are you looking for anything in particular or just whatever sticks out.))


GROUP 1 (Zanther, Sira, Mickey)
Sira skimmed over the brochure wrack. A large number of them were for various stores and restaurants in different parts of the village. There were also fliers for special events including yearly festivals (none of which seemed to be taking place that day), a special open house event at a historic house in the richer part of the villager, and a schedule for a set of theatrical performances in the park. In addition, there were brochures for a local history museum, a science museum, a village walking tour, a wall walking tour, and a under city tunnel tour. There was also a map with notable sights marked.

[Blue Fire Cyndaquil]

"Well, since you're in the better position, and both Kako and Takeru won't stop talking and let me handle things, I give up." *Slumps, closing his eyes*

[Metalheadz]

"Will you shut up, Capperoff." Takeru noticed Todd hiding behind the bushes. "You know what, alien freaks, we'll completely shut up and won't say anything. Shoot us if you dare, you won't get anything more from us."

[Kaida]

"Hey one of these could be useful, probably a lot easier to carry around then a bazooka too" Kaida said to herself as she inspected the clubs. She looked at the shorter ones moreso seeing as they would be easier to carry and put in a bag or something. I wonder if they have rules about this kind of thing, then again I am carrying a bazooka and as far as I know there's no 'instant death' functions on these things, and the sleeping toxin does sound quite usefull.

[Winters Rage]

((Kadia roughly explained it in the threads I put in the post, unless that's not enough for Chris to know, then I'll just have to wait until she get's to where I am; Kadia, try to find me soon-ish, please.))
"Darn. Oh well, I guess I could buy them and then test them outside, though that would be unconventional and I'd probably want them anyways... Ok, I'll buy them, could you charge them to the Earth Teams account?"

The woman looked a little puzzled. "I can charge it to your account. If there's another one you want me to use instead I'll need the access key."


KAIDA
The shorter clubs came in a variety of different models, with their prices based primarily on the number of features they had. Single feature clubs were naturally much cheaper than those with multiple features.


GROUP 2 (Capperoff, Takeru, Tod, Kako)
The woman sighed. We'll do this the hard way then. She snapped her fingers and the ropes around the three Earth Team mambers shift slightly so that each one of them was tied individually, instead of together. "Stazy, Trace, and I will take the girl over there. The rest of you," she gestured to the remaining members of the team (all male), "search the boys." She and one of the other woman grabbed Kako and began dragging her off into the trees (in the opposite direction of where Tod was hiding).

[Neo Zanther]

Neo was wondering though the store trying to see if anything seemed out of place. Or at least give him another clue on the portal. But he could also just be wasting his time but one never knew if that was ever the case til later.
