[Saber Knight]

Eskay bit her lip. Ooh... I could probably do that little walking on ice trick... she thought to herself nervously, Well... I need to get hang of my powers sooner or later...

Taking a deep breath, Eskay stepped on the water, trying to remember how it felt when she had used her ice powers before. Her foot splashed through. Angrily, she stamped the water with her other foot, but this time she created a thin piece of ice. With a sigh and a frown, she took a step, and this time her foot created a small patch of ice. Sighing, she walked on, following the rest of the group, hoping that her powers didn't decide to randomly give out.

I could shoot my web across, I am part Black Widow. And if you have wings you can just fly over. Also, Plasma is close to fire. Just more awesome.

Azriel smothered a chuckle at Nyandimar's response to Marina, then gazed out over the ocean. A moment later, he spread his newly-regained wings and took off. "Those flying disks look intriguing," he called down to Nyandimar, "but I think I'll rely on my own resources rather than depleting yours needlessly." He then flew to a spot just above and behind Eskay, prepared to catch her just in case. He hoped she would manage on her own, since it would be a good exercise of her powers, but one could never be too cautious.

Vegier paled visibly at Nyandimar's offer. Flying over a body of water was already bad enough for him, but relying on magic, and someone else's magic, at that...
Well, that was enough to make the Arc consider staying where the land is dry. Again, he had to force himself to repress the mounting fear.
"I-I guess that could work," he stuttered, trying to put on a brave face. More color seemed to drain from his face as he watched the other Saber Knight hover around on a fairly small platform that hardly looked stable. "Well, I'll give it a try, as long as you're sure that it will hold."

"Tell you what, Vegier," Nyandimar began, "would you rather guard the shore? Couldn't hurt to have all the bases covered either." He smiled at him. "Besides, these disks need to stay within 20 feet of me, so they aren't as useful as I'd like them be."
For people whose power is based on divine magic, you'd think the other saber knights wouldn't have quite so many qualms about the arcane, Nyandimar thought.

"Well, whatever we're planning on doing, we should probably do it TODAY. We know the bad guys aren't sitting around talking about how awesome sharks are..."

Sira was so preoccupied with swimming that she almost forgot to look back at the rest of the Saber Knights. Within a hundred yards of the shark, she turned to see four of them following her. Some in the air, and a few on the water, forming a path with ice.
Oh!I didn't know they could do that. I almost forgot to warn them. She moved upright so as to speak to the Saber Knights. Um, those of you who are using ice to make your way, I'd suggest staying here. The shark may be frightened by, well, the fact that ice is materializing above it. I'm sorry, I should have remembered. She called to Vegier. And Nyandimar is right, it would be good to have someone stay on the shore. We have a good amount of people out here. Give us a call if you see anything, okay?

Vegier seemed faintly embarrassed when he heard Marley. He certainly hadn't intended to waste time. However, at Nyandimar and Sira's words, his shoulders slumped with relief. It was nice to know there was something he could do without having the risk of drowning.
"Thank you," he replied gratefully, smiling a little. "I'll do that. Be careful out there, all of you. Tell me the what you find out when you get back." He waved at the ones who were heading out with Sira before taking a few steps back from the water's edge, keeping his brandistock ready in both hands.

Haddix tried to get on to one of the flying disks, and was just barely able to fit.

Well, I'll trust you. Just don't drop me.

(He's a very trusting character.)

Eskay had absolutely no qualms about turning around and guarding the shore. She was next to positive she was about to sink, anyways. With a quick, "Alright, I'll take the shore!" she dashed back off the water.

"Hey bud," she said with a wave to Vergier. "Looks like we're guarding the shore, eh?" She chuckeld to herself.

A frown. Well, this has gotten slightly less entertaining, the man thought to himself. Not only had most of the characters left the scene, but the girl had just put herself out of any threat or danger, and that just wasn't entertaining at all. The only option would be to mix things up a bit.

"Cynfran!" he called. Not even five seconds later, a man dressed in dark robes materialized from the shadows. He bent down so far his head nearly touched the floor.

"Yes, sir?" He beckoned, and Cynfran came to stand beside him, looking into the basin of water with the picture on the surface. His red eyes widened in temporary surprise. "Now that..." he said softly, "is a blade I never thought I'd see again."

Wordlessly, the two nodded at each other. Cynfran waved his cloak, and where the man had stood moments ago now there was a dark raven. With a flap of its wings, the bird soared out of the room, leaving a smirking man staring into the basin, now with slightly more interest.

Azriel watched as Eskay retreated to the safety of the beach. Well that's one less thing I can do in the meantime, he thought. He flapped his wings a few times to increase his altitude, then began flying in large, lazy circles above the other Saber Knights. There, he waited for his group to continue moving, enjoying the ocean breeze on his face. After a moment, he seemed to realize something.

Swooping back down to sea level, he pulled up two yards above Sira. "So, uh, do we have a method of communication with the Knights left on the shore?" he asked her as he hovered. "Even if they find something, if we're too far out, we won't be able to hear them." He paused, then continued, "I could act as messenger, staying here on the shore with the others. If we have anything to report, I can fly out to where you are. Besides," he added a little sheepishly, "my Sacred Saber's power is lightning. If by some chance we wind up in a fight, I hardly want to electrocute everything in the ocean."

"If something causes me to drop you, we're both in trouble," Nyandimar replied. "I shall make every attempt to keep nothing short of getting eaten myself from keeping you safe, sir."
Haddix safely astride the magical mercury transport, suddenly the idea of basic communication between the shore parties and the ocean parties seemed like a good idea.
"Just in case, we should have a signal so you guys know if we're in trouble. So, if I flail my arms like this," Nyandimar demonstrated, flinging his arms in every direction, "it means panic."
As the ice walkers turned around to join the groundskeepers, Nyandimar decided he dawdled long enough, and turned to hover over the ocean, with Haddix's transport following at about a 6 foot distance.

Sira felt a little better that Eskay had gone back. Walking on the water might have put her in danger.
Sira laughed at Nyandimar's comment. Yes, that's a good sign for panic. She said. Then she turned to Azriel. Yes, that is a good idea, thank you Azriel.
With that taken care of, Sira swam another fifty yards. The shark was a little ways off, but she still held her spear in front of her as a precaution.

The shark glanced in her direction once or twice, but other than that payed her no regard as it continued to swim, moving this way and that, looking for fish (which it wouldn't have any luck of here, she knew. The fish stayed much farther out. As if the shark had read her thoughts, it began to swim farther out. Sira followed, but still kept her distance.

When she spearfished, she always was fascinated by the sharks that shared her hunting grounds. With their immense size and strength, they acted most of the time surprisingly good-tempered. Just as long as she and other humans didn't hunt to close to them, that is. After a little while, her head came out from under the water, and she relayed what she'd found to the other Saber Knights.
The shark is acting pretty normal. I don't think this is one of those manic ones. What's more there's no other sharks around here.

Well, let's get moving. If we could find a helmet that lets me breathe underwater, I could survive down there, and help fight.

Hmm, If the shark is acting normal, then maybe that other shark is not native to this world.
