New RP Discussion Thread

Hmm, well, since I actually did wind up with Internet...

I've never played Mass Effect or TWEWY, so I wouldn't do well in those roleplays.
Inception sounds interesting, but I don't know how that'd work out into a roleplay, unless you'd like to give us a rough idea of any plot you might have.
I'd go for NG's RP.

I've never played TWEWY or MS2 either, but I'm planing on getting TWEWY as soon as I get back because f how awesome you guys say it is.
I don't just have a vague idea about the plot, I have it planned out in a text document roughly 10kb big, which is a pretty stinking large amount of words. Plus, I have about 20x that in my head...
Doesn't anyone else like me idea or should I post more info about it and kinda spoil some of the beginning or not?

Well, Winters Rage, I'm curious about your RP, but I personally think your description was a bit vague. If you don't want to spoil the beginning, though, I'll just deal with my curiosity.

Hmm.. ok, I think I've got a bit more that I can let you guys in on...
The way you start the RP in the first place is you push the button on the globe, your first post should just say how you push the button and all... here's the next, not direct context, but just vague coverage:
The room faded to black, you see nothing, you hear nothing. Out of nowhere a voice! It's not startling, it's very calming You hear it, but not with your ears, you hear it in your mind. It asks you some questions, What is your Age? Name? Gender? Language? Race? and finally, describe yourself and what you are wearing. That is, of course, how you make your character. You reply with your response to to voice and it's questions. "Oh, Ok, thank you for answering those! Goodbye." The voice was gone, you are alone again. "Oh, are you awake?" You hear another voice, but it doesn't sound like the other one, you hear it with your ears and it sounds... feminine.. "Come on sleepy head! Get up, you've been out since this morning! Open your eyes!" You open your eyes to find yourself on a (relativity uncomfortable) couch with a girl about 19 standing over you. "Oh good! You're awake now!" She said. "You know, you sure sleep alot of a [race], I didn't think your kind slept that much!" You then look at yourself to find you're one of the following races:

The characters would be an Extraction/Inception team for hire. we would go through different jobs, doing the jobs, trying to successfully complete them. You choose why your character is on the team. I would post a description chart. Each character would also have a job, such as Extractor or Architect. There could be multiple teams, some on the same side, some not.

Hmm... I think I got the picture. I'm kind of nervous about using someone else's races. I'm afraid I might mess them up, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Around how many RPers are you going to aiming for?

Yo, so, I know that I've already got two RPs running (and they're kind of the only active ones, currently... that really needs to be fixed ) and all, but I've had another idea for an RP for like... several months, now. It's another RP with a world of my invention (well, I don't know if the SKS is eniterly original since we world hop, but the whole Saber Knight concept is mine... but I digress) that I've been working on in my head whenever I'm bored, and I think I've got a pretty good layout for it. However, I'm still working on a lot of stuff, and I think RP-ing in the world would help me flesh out ideas a bit more, and I'd probably be open to some suggestions (as long as they're good :P ). I'm working on a map as well... might get that up (speaking of maps, should probably get my vauge Azuri map up...).

However, my only concern is... yeah, I've already got two RPs going. However, my first year at the forum I started SKS, then a bit over a year later (I think, too lazy to check) I started Azuri... it's been a bit over a year again, so I think I'm due :P If no one minds, I'm happy to get this RP started.

I will give a better synopsis if necessary, but here's a breif exceprt from a story I was writing set in this world that explains some stuff...

" Today, anyone who has a reasonable amount of intellect and the drive to learn magic can do so. But, ages ago, it was not so. Only those born with a sacred mark could use the god’s might. As the years went by, the mages learned that they could store their magic in crystals. This allowed for mages to save power for later, but it also allowed people not born with the Mark to use magic. Mages could store their magic inside the crystals, and others could then use the stored magic. However, this magic was incredibly limited due to the fact that, in order for non-Marked to be able to use the magic, only a certain spell could be stored inside the crystal. Whereas the Marked could store pure magic inside, and then use this raw power later, a non-Marked who tried to use raw magic would have their mind destroyed.
As soon as the discovery of Crystalline Magic was made, the world immediately began digging into the earth to find the valuable crystals. Many mines were discovered that held a wealth of crystals. A larger crystal had the ability to store more magic, but more often than not people used small crystals, for that was all that was necessary to store single spells. Larger crystals were only useful to the Marked.
Even though magic was no longer limited to the Marked, they were still, by far, the most powerful magic users. Their spells were not limited to whatever crystals they carried, making their potential far greater. The sheer power of their spells was also far more than that of the non-Marked. People looked at the Marked with both great respect as well as great fear. Their sacred marks were seen as both a blessing…
…and as a curse. "

So, basically, magic works by 6 elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Dark (Saber, that's just Azuri ElementCrafting combined with Azuri magic, minus neutral magic... SHUT UP NO IT'S NOT IT WORKS DIFFERENTLY THIS TIME! Whatever you say... ). However, unlike Azuri's ElementCrafting, just because you have, say, a Fire Mark doesn't mean all you can do is shoot fire... you can cast base spells... like, levitate, for example. The base spells work slightly different for different Marks, tho. As for the Marks themselves, they are different animals. I'll go more in depth about cultures, but the Fire Marked, for example, are seperated into different tribes depending on your Mark (even if you don't have a Mark, your family lives by a certain one... kind of like a family crest). A Marked has the ability to use another element's Crystalline Magic, but they may NOT use the opposite element or else their mind will be kiiiinda sorta destroyed. Sucks. That's the main advantage to Non-Marked mages--though they come from a family of a certain element, they have the ability to use all elements (though doing so would be tricky, since it's gonna be tough to find an Air Crystal if you come from Earth).

I've got more, but I won't elaborate unless some other people express interest. This post is already significantly longer than intended...

I think it'd be good to get some more RPs out there so we don't just have SKS and Azuri chillin' there... I haven't ever played Mass Effect or TWEWY (though I desperately want to), so those are no good for me. I could give Winter's RP a shot.

Truthfully, I have a story where there was a giant Crystal that was shattered, and each shard gives a different power. It's slightly similar. It also has a lot more elements, like chimeran creatures. Haddix in SKS is a Chimeran creature. But yes, description to long.
