Hey.
Yeah, I thought of trying to learn at least a little bit of Japanese... and then I got intimidated and quit about an hour into it.
Translated a whole sentance of Hindi without having to look up characters, AND I knew the meaning. Rockin'. I just wish the Hindi mode on my computer made sense, 'cos it doesn't. Like, if I type and upper and lower case a, I get ओ and ो, which is "o" and it's matra (when a vowel follows another letter, you use it's matra, ex को, ko, which I don't believe is a word, but it shows how the matra works. ) and upper and lower case i gets me घ and ग, which is "gha" and "ga"... g gives me u and it's matra, I don't see why they could have just set g to gha and ga. K makes more sense, it's "kha" and "ka". You'd think D would at least give me one of the "da"'s and "dha"'s (there are two, pronounced in different parts of your throat... that's where I kinda get confused with Hindi, since I'm not used to it being spoken around me, I can't tell the difference. Same with the two "ta"'s and "tha"'s), but, nope, a and it's matra. Whaaaatever. Now I'm just rambling on about something no one really cares about, meh.
Soooooooooo today's probably a homework day for me. So much homework. Haaaaate.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! You're correct Mandi, you listed all the official ten ten and maru uses. There are, however, some "unofficial" but semi-common uses of them that include things like changing u to vu. I'd also like to point out that hiragana and katakana are exectly the same. Well, the letters look different, but they represent the same sounds so each hiragana letter corrosponds to single katakana letter and vice versa. Therefor, ten ten and maru are used in the same way with the same letters in both alphabets (though the unofficial ten ten and maru uses I mentioned are generally limited to use with katakana). To answer NG's question, pretty much any Japanese textbook or dictionary will have a hiragana and katakana reference guide. To really be able to read Japanese though, you need to know both hiragana and katakana (fairly easy, combined they make for slightly more than 100 letters) and the approximately 2000 kanji commonly used in Japanese (that's that hard part as there's 2000 of them and most have multiple possible readings).

Hi Hi!
News: Ummm...I can't speak/read/understand any Japanese....so...yeah...
New News: It was pretty nice out last night! (since I was up for it) It was only 60. My perfect "cool summer night" temp.
Plain Old News: Yeah...I've been up since 7:00 last evening. I'm starting to become a bat or something. Sleeping during the day, awake at night. I have to say...It's pretty awsome. Somepeople would say "Oh, that's not healthy for you." I happen to know that. This is actually part of a little science experiment i'm conducting on myself. To see how much the body will change over a period of time with the sleep schedule fliped around. So far all I have found is that I'm a bit more hungry then usual. (I have Broccoli and apples, so i'm set for that) I also have a time near midnight, (which would be noon for me) that I get tired, then at about...2:00am-ish, I am perfectly awake. I suppose that everyone else in my house is getting tired, and like a pack of monkeys, everyone will get tired at the same time, and go to sleep at the same time. That would be the only changes I can see. Soon, I will start consulting my family members and tell them If they notice any changes in me...Well that's about it. Good...night for me/morning for everyone else!

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
'Ello! I've been playing Platinum a lot lately. I've been trying Battle Factory for the first time, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I really wonder what the NPC Trainers are trying to do, though... Having a Feraligatr use Waterfall on a Vaporeon isn't going to help them. ._.
Learning how to read hiragana and katakana actually isn't too bad. Kanji, on the other hand, can be rather annoying, especially since one kanji can have several different readings. I can't say much about the grammar, though. Japanese is somewhat similar to my native language when it comes to sentence structure, so it was slightly easier for me than it was for most of my classmates.Saber Knight wrote:Yeah, I thought of trying to learn at least a little bit of Japanese... and then I got intimidated and quit about an hour into it.
Not an experiment I would want to try, but have fun with it. You seem to be making more typos, though... Does that count as a change? :PPoisonWing14 wrote:Yeah...I've been up since 7:00 last evening. Hey.
Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be too bad, except for the kanji, but I just... never really got the drive to work on learning it. I had a few friends around me that knew bits of Japanese, but other than that, not much. My only resources would pretty much just be online, and it was during the school year and I had soooo much to do... Now it's the summer, PurplePrincess also wants to work on learning Hindi better, and she has super awesome Hindi books, and I started working on it. Meh. I'll probably give up, but, the idea of a white kid speaking Hindi kind of really amuses me.
I. Hate. Summer. Homework. SO FREAKING MUCH OF IT. I'm really nervous that I won't be able to finish by the time school starts... which is not a fun thought. I really have that much...

Meh. I haven't even completed half of my summer homework, sadly. I've been too caught up in my music and social life recently. I've spent at least 9 hours last week looking for some good songs I can probably play on the guitar. The problem is, since I'm only a beginner, there are only 4 songs I can play. :(
The good news is, I'm now learning Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (The best song ever!!!) on the piano. :D
P.S. Nooo!!! Netherlands lost... :( Well, the octopus predicted Spain anyway, who apparently predicted the past 6 World Cups positive.

I haven't been able to work on much of my summer homework yet, since I've been working so much...and cause I don't want to. But mostly because I've been working. I just got back from work actually. Had to miss the World Cup final :(. But my family told me that (Spoiler here, in case someone's planning to watch a replay) There was no scoring for the first 110 minutes. But then Spain scored near the end of overtime. Still, would have been nice to watch. But at least I probably didn't miss too much excitement.
And not much else is going on.

Hey.
Yeah.
Summer homework... just so much of it... 5 chapters of AP Stat, 7 (I think) chapters of AP Physics B, a 6 page essay for AP US along with a bunch of textbook reading and note taking, and I also have to go to the town's historical society to fill out some "colonies chart", then summer reading (Slaughterhouse Five, already finished) and a writeup on that. I've done... 3 chapters of Stat. Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooo........ well, back to stat combined with occasionally memorizing a Hindi word here and there.
Duuuuuuude I rocked that song on piano like a year ago. I had the whole freaking thing memorized. Yeah.Metalheadz wrote:The good news is, I'm now learning Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (The best song ever!!!) on the piano. :D

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
You are sooo lucky T.T I wish I could do that, I'm always up at night, by my parents make me get up for the day >> So I don't get much sleep... I really want to just go all the way nocturnal 'cause that's just awesome! I like to see the sunrise and at one time, one small specific time in the morning right as the sun is coming up everything goes blue! For about 60 seconds it feels like one of those old pokemon games that each town changes color when you enter it. I love it but I've only seen it once~PoisonWing14 wrote:Plain Old News: Yeah...I've been up since 7:00 last evening. I'm starting to become a bat or something. Hopefully when I move out I'll be able to get a night shift for my job so it wont hinder my nocturnal cat-ness.
I also like the late night shows and stuff, like nick@nite, those are just classic to me!
Oh, yea, I know about the kanji, that's probably gonna be the most annoying part about learning it, but I'm determined, I really want to, at the very least, go to or move to Japan one day! It'll be so nice to not have to have a translator, plus I'd be able to watch raw anime ;)
Other languages I plan on learning are: Swedish, French, German and the rest of Spanish.
So far, I think the learning this is going pretty well, I can pronounce some words but I still need to memorize more symbols and learn the special adjusters (as I'm calling them). So hopefully, if I can manage to stay on track, I'll be able to read it by the end of this year and be able to speak it (although very broken probably) by June or so next year.

Wow, so many updates, RotRotSoSHtJ sure got busy! Way too tired to make responses to everyone but Poisonwing trust me on this one - going nocturnal kills your sleep schedule, at least for the first few weeks. Doing graveyard shifts at a job does the same thing
Now that I work at a camera store it feels like I should really have an SLR. A new store's opening in the city and apparently they're having a big Grand Opening sale on the 15th so I'm going to go in and see if they have any of the beginner SLR's I'm looking at for a good price.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Man, being nocturnal was always a staple of my summers... I'd stay up until 5 AM sometimes. Now? I wake up at 5 AM to open at Burger King... sure, that's only one or two days a week, but it makes it hard to switch to a summer sleep schedule.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Bad News: Well....I have been up for almost 2 hours now online trying to make myself tired...I feel the same as I did before...Basically, I can't seem to fall asleep right now...I was falling asleep really easily watching a documentary on how string theory works last night...I almost fell asleep on my couch. Then once I got to my own bed, I suddunly became very much awake...I then proceded to lay on my bed going in and out of consiousnes for the next 5 1/2 hours, then around 4:00 am, I couldn't take not doing anything else other then staring at my celing...so I went online...so, yeah...Either I just am not tired (probable), I have gotten insomnia (not so likely), or...I just can't slow down my mind enough to fall asleep (very likely). Either way, I'm going to try to go back to sleep, *with DSI in hand* so I just might not wake up untill the evening.

I've just been up. All night. Again. I'm training my team getting ready for the tourney and stuff... Oh crap... I forgot to do the dishes :/ dang... Gonna have to do those soon, not looking forward to that...
On the other hand, I am getting alot of pokewalker wats! XD I seem to be really obsessed about that recently... I've almost collected 10k wats now and over 200k steps! ^^ I think I need to stop wearing it on my ankle though, the strap is kinda 1 notch too small and is making lines on my leg :/ Oh well.
I need to do stuff :/ I don't know what but I'm gonna go do stuff, like probably look up random things online and stuff my mind even more full of random crap that happens to be on google or wikipedia...
