E3 2010

Post by Josiah »

So far there hasn't been much other than the Nintendo and Microsoft press conferences.

Microsoft's didn't really interest me, other than Metal Gear Rising (which I'll be getting on the PS3 anyway). The Kinect (formally Natal) is nifty and all but doesn't seem anywhere near as groundbreaking as they're making it out to be. The 360 Slim is nice, but nothing too amazing either.

Nintendo, on the other hand... Wow. New DK, new Kid Ikarus, new Kirby, new Zelda, and hints at a few other things... Not to mention the 3DS, which I'm a bit more interested in than I was before (though I still think I'll need to get my hands on one before I can really decide how I feel). But hey, it had a Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear game announced for it so I'll definately be getting one.

I have not been this interested in a DS model since the original DS.
I honestly can't wait.

Rising looks great with it's presentation on precision cutting.

There's a ton going on with Dead Space 2, they're updating their official and facebook pages almost every day with new stuff! For E3 they posted a "death by Puker" video which definitely isn't family forum friendly but I'm sure you can youtube it if you really want to, along with a clip of the demo which looks great! (You get to literally storm a church, but considering they worship the Marker and the Necromorphs it makes, I'd say they deserve it).

So I watched Kevin Butler's speech, and I loved it. In the name of gaming, I salute him.

EDIT: So, I've been a huge critic on dance games this generation, so much that the only REAL dance game to me is We Cheer. Kinect's Dance Masters actually gives me some hope for actual dance games. It really looks like Happy Dance collection with the pacing of We Cheer.
I sure hope it's compatible with a JP 360 then...
EDIT Again (I really hate double posting): Xbox 360 Slim semi-confirmed that the RRoD problem is not gone. Well, the Red Ring part is gone, but not all the problems that happen when a 360 Red Rings.

Yeah, Epic Yarn is looking pretty cool and I'm pleased to see a new Donkey Kong Country as well.

Epic yarn looks awesome, as well as the 3DS, although, I don't know if anyone else noticed this but why is the touch screen smaller than the top screen? doesn't the seem kinda akward? Also, why is the d-pad lower? I'm not to fond of joysticks as much as d-pads, sure it got like 108 different directions, but the d-pad is just alot easier to control when your hands are slippery :/
I do like the new position of the camera, I hope the 3DS can take video, that would be cool~

While d-pads tend to be a bit more percise when it comes to 2D platformers, trying to navigate a 3D world with a d-pad is a bit of a pain. The thumb stick is a very good addition.

Does anyone have any idea of the price range for the 3DS? Was it announced at E3? I have a feeling it's gonna probably be anywhere from 170-200 bucks :/ That's gonna be a big hole in my pocket..

The price wasn't announced though it'll probably be around $200 give or take $50.
