The Thingy Game OOC
So, I'd kinda like to get a new thingy game started. I'd run it myself but, as I'm almost always on the forums at more or less the same time every day, I'm not really the best choice. So I wanted to know if anyone was interested in taking over.

You're supposed to calculate the scores every week, depending on who has what thingy at the time you post the scores. Is that what you're doing?

Summer time can be kind of slow on the forums in general, but I did warn you that setting an exact time for when you'd end the round, as well as setting that time way in the future, probably wouldn't encourage people to post a lot.

If you change the rules, you should probably make a post saying what those changes are in addition to editing the first post, since it's pretty easy for people to miss.
Having read your rule change, I still think you're doing it wrong. Like I said originally, it's your version of the thingy game and you're free to run it how you want. But the reason people posted so much in some of the older thingy games is that, since you never knew when the round would end (and it often ended at least once every few days), it made it important to steal and/or take back thingies as fast as possible to increase the chance that you'd still have them when the round ended. But when everyone knows when the round will end (be it a date or page number), it's easy to just sit back and wait once you have the thingy you want or do nothing until the last moment (say the end of page 6 for your new page 7 ending rule) and then grab it right before the end. Afterall, what's the point of fighting over the thingy on page 3 if you know you're just going to lose it long before page 7 comes around. Better to wait till the end and grab it then.

I didn't actually change any rules, I emphasized in areas and when I made up the game this time I did it differently than the old games (originally our of ignorance but then I realized I should try it differently) so that each thingy is worth a certain amount of points so that you have to play the whole time to rack up (or maybe lose) points to win instead of the last person who was holding the thingy wins...
