Re: Japanese Word Thread
Wait... I thought "bango" was number? I mean, "go" is a number... it's five. I've never heard it used for numbers in general, though...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Re: Japanese Word Thread
This is a different go than the go that's the number five (different kanji). Ban, specifically, is the counter suffix for place or position (ichiban = number 1 (as in the first one, the best one, etc), niban = number 2, etc). I haven't heard this go used on its own yet, but it is used as parts of other words (might be used on its own as well though, not sure). For example, you mentioned bango (which is often part of the term denwa bango (phone number)) which, when written out is the kanji for ban followed by the kanji for this go.
