Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Heso! I never said it wasn't taboo. Yes, general society says it's wrong, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Morals are completely and totally subjective.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

HEY! LISTEN!
...
Sorry, couldn't resist!
I just saw the new Iron Man Series. It is awesome. I'm shocked that the writers gave the Mandarin, Iron Man's Arch enemy, a stepson who usurps him by the end of the second half of the premiere.
Anyway, Zoras had went into comicgeek mode when he saw Titanium man in the theme sequence, he even pulled out his comic collection, Iron Man section, Box A to help his arguement. ...
Never mind, He's at it again, with Happy Hogan.
He was worse with the fact that Domino looked almost exactly like Shreik (Spiderman, Carnage's Girlfreind.) I can't think of her name at the moment. and that was January.

MY LAPTOP!
What's wrong with it? D:
I left it for a few minutes to help around the house a bit and when I came back to it... well it has crashed or something. I'm on the PC right now hoping, praying that it will sort itself out.it's doing something now.. and if I'm right... I doubt it's a very good thing at all. I don't know. Whatever's happened I'm very afraid.
My poor, poor laptop :(
My main concern, however.. is what could have caused the crash. Nobody touched it. Nobody was NEAR it. How the hell did it crash?

That reminds me, I have a friend who watched Ouran and the Twins pretty much turned into a fetish for her. Kinda weird, but whatever floats her boat I guess. Kinda bored, so that is all.

Rune Factory. Good game. I had a good time playing it. I finished it in one year (game time).Gardialvoir wrote: Buy. I got Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and my brother got Rune Factory and something on the DS to learn Japanese.
Weird dream last night. It involved audititioning for a play where I got the female lead and one of my friends (who doesn't act) got the male lead, and in the play we had to get married and we were both like "WTF? No way!"
Nuuu...vacation...come back...

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! I personally think the twins in Ouran were playing it up for their fan-girls, but that's besides the point. I wasn't trying to say that everyone says murder, theft, and incest are wrong but that pretty much every society condems them. Sure there's the old person here or there who disagrees, but they're the rare exceptions. Just like there's the odd person who believes that the mood is made of cheese *glances at Astral*.
As for cults having value... Some might, maybe. But keep in mind there are some cults that exist just to steal everyone's money (sure the people might be happy for a little while, until they realize they just got scammed), cults where members are frequently sexually abused, and cults where everyone ends up killing each other. I really can't find anything good in them.
Poik, that's too bad. How'd you end up like that anyway?

I think I need better running shoes. I run on hard pavement, and it started after the indian run (running in line with the person in back sprinting to the front) with the marines.
And the moon IS made of cheese. I forget which theory it is, I think it's part of quantum mechanics, but there are infinite realities, and in one of them the moon is made of cheese. That doesn't mean you can say "the moon in this reality is made of cheese." Then you'd be wrong.
Also many many years ago, not only was incest not taboo, but people would look for distant relatives to marry. That's what my AP Psych teacher said. I couldn't give you proof and I'm not quite sure I'd like to believe it myself. But she's the college graduate in that field.
And Buddhism, is not a religion. You heard that from who? Buddhism is a way of life, an explanation of things, and it admires the person who best demonstrates and developed this way of life. Buddha is not a god, and no one who truly follows him believes that.

Ohayou (5:30 in the morning)
Since I'm studying this in class, I couldn't resist commenting. The type of Buddhism Poik is referring to is Hinayama Buddhism. Followers believed the Buddha was a normal human and that Buddhism is a way of life. The more popular variation, called Mahayana Buddhism, made Buddha more of a divine figure. Some people even connected Buddhism to Hinduism and claimed that the Buddha was one of the incarnations of their god Vishnu.
I might've spelled some things wrong; the powerpoints aren't very easy to read sometimes.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Heso! I'm not saying the twins were actually interested in Twincest - I know it was an act, which I mentioned in my last post. I'm talking about the fangirls. The fangirls don't see anything wrong with them acting the way they do - in fact they enjoy it. So there's a modern example of somewhat-accepted incest... and as Poik mentioned, throughout history it's been a common practice. Let's take a look at European nobility... It got to a point where essentially every king, queen, prince, and princess and Europe was directly related to all the others. Royalty could only marry royalty, and there were only so many royals in the world... Problem was that that degree of incest caused the spread of some diseases, lurking within the recessive traits of certain people that started coming to the surface due to in-breeding.
And let's not forget the Biblical creation theory... if the only people around were Adam and Eve, how do you think they made more come the next generation? That's kind of the main reason I'm honestly surprised that incest is such a taboo... sure, there wasn't much choice in that case, save for letting humanity die, but that's Biblically-condoned incest. And if they do it in the Bible...

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
But in the bible, especialy the old testament where the adam and eve thing happened they also condone things like slaughtering entire villages because they're "evil", rape of women etc...
And I'm ont he PC right now. I bought my laptop on the 2nd of December last year which makes my laptop not even 5 months old. It's already a paperweight. BSoD'd. I'm taking it back ot the store I got it from (same one as I got my old laptop at and it died before the extended warranty ran out due to things not covered under extended warranty so there was a waste of good money) and WTFing. If they can at least find some way to get my files back it won't be SO bad.. I mean that's 4 months of my life >.<
So they better do SOMETHING. And if they try and replace the laptop I'll just tell them to give my money back and I'll buy it from somewhere more reliable.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi!
I know all about European royalty and all that. Actually, I think if you look closely at history it's not that incest itself was ever really considered ok, but that the line between incest and distant enough relative moved quite a lot. As for Adam and Eve's kids...yeah probably (I've heard some alternatives actually, but I don't personally put a lot of stock in them), but it's not like there was much of a choice. Family has got to have a different meaning when there's so few people in the world. But anyway, Abraham married his half-sister too, for that matter. But when God actually gave the Isrealites the laws in the book of Leviticus (quite a while after those previous relationships took place), He spelled out exactly who you can and can't marry in regard to relatives. Going off the top of my head, I think you had to be at very least cousins (or it might have been second cousins), to marry.
Gotta also keep in mind, aside from Jesus, all the Biblical heros made mistakes (and were often punished for them) so you can't just say that anything that's done in the Bible is ok, you gotta study it out.
To common on what Astral said... The Bible NEVER condones rape. While it was generally allowed to take women captive in war, there are rules spells out about how they must be treated whether they're used as servants or otherwise. And they couldn't be raped. If you wanted a captive women in that way you actually had to follow a lengthy process to prepare her for her new life and finally marry her and give her full rights as a wife. While that still might seem somewhat barbaric by modern standards, it was a huge improvement on the standard practices of other nations at the time, which had no qualms about raping and mistreating captured women.
As for battles... In most of the battles fought by the ancient Isrealites in the Bible they were attacked first, and often after they offered overtures of peace. I won't argue that there were a few times when God simply said to go and destory one place or another but, considering that some societies of the day routinely practied things like rape, pysical abuse, and child sacrifice, you could make a good arguement that the ones who God singled deserved it. Even if you don't want to go that far, war among neighboring peoples was extremely common in that time period and it's highly likely, has Isreal not attacked those places, those places would have soon attacked them instead. So you could look at it as a pre-emptive strike.
Moving on to twincest loving fan-girls... They disturb me. That aside, I have to wonder if they'd be so enthuastic about real life twincest as opposed to fictional. For example, a little while ago I stumbled across an article that mentioned how Japanese otaku who are fond of hentai involve young children were never-the-less quick to attack and pursue legal action against someone who tried to post actual child porn on their messageboards. (And no, I wasn't searching anything questionable when I found that article, I was actually looking for information on how anime has influenced Americans' impressions of Japan.)
Finally, to respond to Poik... There are many types of Buddhism. In most, Buddha is not seen as a god and it's technically more of a philosophy and lifestyle than a religion. Though, using that logic, you could also say that many of the "new age religions" aren't technically religions either. But they still do pray to Buddha and there are some forms of Buddhism which actually do see Buddha, various other Buddha, Buddhastiva, and some other beings are gods. Some forms of Buddhism also believe in a heavin ruled over by Buddha. It surprised me when I first learned about all that too. As I found out while in Japan, Buddhism is a lot more diverse than they generally teach you in school here in the US.
Oh, and the running... It's not always the shoes (though it could be). I hurt myself a bit back when I used to run frequently because my body was apparently lacking in certain important vitamins and minerals. Something that a good multi-vitamin can usually fix.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Okay, I had a look at the verse I saw and I see I may have read it wrong. It's really up to interpretation.
Numbers 31:17
[Moses says:] "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
but then again...
Judges 19:22-24
As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, base fellows, beset the house round about, beating on the door; and they said to the old man, the master of the house, "Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may know him." And the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, "No, my brethren, do not act so wickedly; seeing that this man has come into my house, do not do this vile thing. Behold, here are my virgin daughter and his concubine; let me bring them out now. Ravish them and do with them what seems good to you; but against this man do not do so vile a thing."
So I don't know.
How did we even get onto this topic anyway?
This is weird RotRotSotSHTJ chatter.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Okay. If we're going to be talking religion which is controversial enough, I'd like to input a theory. Look at the times of the Bible. Those time had a few societies that seemed very immoral by our standards. Heck some of the things that was condoned by God seem a bit immoral by our standards, but by their standards, this was a major step up. God knows the importance of baby steps.
Also, this all started from me talking about the psychology topic and/or my theoretical experiment.
That said, I shouldn't've played Capture the Flag yesterday, but I had fun, so I don't mind another week of shin splints.
On the same note as my grammatical disaster above, "'I'ven't' isn't a word because I'ven't seen it in the dictionary" is just an excuse used by your english professors. Ain't and truthiness are in the dictionary now, lets go for another!
