King of the Froums 2009 Bonus Challenge #2

Post by Josiah »

It's time for the week 2 challenge!

Your goal this week, is to write a one paragraph testimonial about how Pebble Version (the comic, forums, or both) has improved your life. Please note that this testamonial does not have to neccessarily be serious or even entirely true. Once again, entries must be posted in this thread no later than Sunday. You may enter (and win) multiple times, but each individual testimonial can't be longer than one paragraph.

Winners will be chosen based entirely on my personal opinion, because I'm the judge and all that.
First Prize: 30 points
Second Prize: 20 points
Third Prize: 10 points

Um, Josiah? You spelled the title wrong. Just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't notice.

The N00b... you can be King of the Forums if you want. I really don't care. However... I /will/ be King of the Froums.

As soon as I figure out what a Froum is.

Anyway, this challenge is way too easy for someone that's been here for like five years. I don't even need to make something up.

Because I know that... I grew up here. Pebble Version is family. Upon joining this community at the age of 12, I was - and I can admit this - kind of an idiot. Ok, more than "kind of". I was ignorant and immature. But spending time here, associating with people that were like me yet so different... I learned a lot, especially from people like Shauni, Jeff, and Josiah. I thought I was joining a simple forum devoted to a silly Pokemon sprite comic; I never would have guessed that the members here would also be knowledgable enough to discuss much deeper topics. Love and War... Life and Death... Environmental Science and Large Hadron Colliders... yet we never take anything too seriously. It... really is like a family.

...Entry number 1, much too serious for Silver. Expect more comic relief later.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

So a sales pitch?

I have a revolutionary new product that is sure to increase your life span by fifty years! This Pebble Version Forums can be used for nearly anything! It slices, it dices, it mashes, and it rolls! I personally use it for grammar and spelling lessons, which can be obtained in 5 different languages! None of our competitors offer nearly as much functionality. And when your done with your work, the Pebble Version Forums fold into a customizable game board that can play 90+ games! But wait, there's more! Order now and you will get the upgraded version with MMORP functionality, built in customer service, access to your favorite web cartoonists, improved absorbency, and more. For a limited time, we will be paying customers who use our product on a regular basis-that's right, we will pay you anywhere from 5 dollars to 25, just for using the product! So if you've been waiting to order yourself a new multi-purpose fictional utility, don't wait any longer! Now is the only time we will be offering this deal! To take advantage of this offer, all you have to do is call 1-800-what-a-lame-advertisement. Cost shouldn't be a concern as any amount of money is more than made up with this revolutionary invention, but if you would really like to know, most people sell similar products for thousands of dollars, but we're practically giving it away at 20 easy payments of $199.99. Once again, that number is 1-800-someone-has-had-too-much-caffiene; 1-800-1-3-3-7-i-s-n-o-t-a-w-o-r-d.

I'm just being ridiculous, I'll give this a serious try a little later.

Well, I don't socialize much, but on this I'm more social. All the members are nice, some are funny, and yet none seem to be all that rude. It really helps me learn how to act in public. As I stay on the forum's, I realize that being with others can be fun. I learn not to be as annoying on the forum's. I normally say weird stuff in public, but I'm realizing how it can be annoying. Everyone help's me grow in small way's every time I go on. I thank you all for helping me, whether or not you knew you were. The comic itself helps me in that it teaches me to build a plot line. I write books, so that's helpful. It also makes me laugh, and it's nice to know that in this dark, abysmal world, people can still get a good laugh. The more I read, the more I hope for this world's future. In all, I may have come for fun, but I got so much more. I hope to continue learning from this. I already learned that you can come for one thing, but you can get so much more if you just look. I thank you all for this wonderful experience.

I've actually learned to splice on this. I also learned to use PNG. I hope to learn about my writing, and I also hope to learn if I can do comics well. If you guy's would help with my writing topic, that would be great. Thanks in advance, and I can't wait to read your comments. Also, most of the time, I get into a posting war with Phonox, and those are fun. If I get on, I have a good time every time. I'm glad that I joined, and the experience is great. Too bad I'm not a Pok3mon. *Bang bang*... *CRASH*.... *Crickets chirping*... Alright, so I can't make good jokes, but still. You're all my friends. And I hope to have many good years to come on here.

Grr. This is tough. It's hard to put me emotions into a paragraph.

Are we talking paragraph or PARAGRAPH? (saying that is just not quite as effective without the hand motions).....Regardless, I'll get something up here. Soon, hopefully. Maybe now. Probably not. I need to put more thought into this.

Well, it's always nice to come to a place where I'm accepted for once. Actually, I'd say the best part of the Pebble Version Forums is the welcoming environment. Pebble Version has helped me in this respect as it is one of the only places I can post a big rant (and I'm still sorry to those who read it  ) and not be shot down for being overly dramatic. Not only that, it's a great place to discuss otherwise controversial topics and learn the other side to some arguments. I can honestly say you guys have helped me mature a little, socially and mentally. Also, the grammar and spelling nazism has helped my English grade a little. :-P In addition, if it weren't for the smiley challenge two years ago, I would have never tried splicing, and if it weren't for the game section, I would never have tried writing a story (both of which I know now I should never do again). Among other things, this forum has motivated me to see the world some day, and to get back to relearning some of the programming languages I put down for my original dream of becoming a programmer in the video game industry. I just wish I had a little more time to do that. Anyway, this is a great forums, and even if you guys find me annoying, I think I'll stick around for a while.

Now that I think of it, does the first paragraph I did count? It kind of implies that PVF did that for me, but it's more telling what it could do for you.

Darn it, you caught on to my clever plan to keep all the points for myself by posting a challenge for a fake contest! :ninja: Or maybe it just had something to do with me being in a major rush when I made this thread. One of those...

Well Poik, your first entry wasn't quite a testimonial...but it was funny and well done so I'm gonna count it anyway.

Saber, length is more or less up to you. When I say a paragraph I'm kinda trusting your to use basic English skills to determin a proper length, as opposed to say, writing an entire page without ever hitting the enter key and calling it one paragraph. If you want a better guildline though, the current entries (Poik's and Silver's in particular) are a pretty good length for this type of thing.

Alright, I'll give this a shot.

Pebble Version has been a great place for me. You can't already tell? I get bored with stuff so easy, I never stay in one place for a long time. PvF is the exception. I've nearly been here a year (my "joining date" is all LIES). I never could have known that when I randomly decided to check out the comic's forums for the first time. In real life, I'm pretty shy unless I'm with my friends. Then I can really be the loud, spazzy person that is me. Like at DI. I feel the same here. Even though it's the internet, I feel I can really be myself with you guys around. It's also really nice to be able to rant here....very nice. I don't know if you guys actually read them all time time, but it's nice to get things off my chest, and when you guys comment on them it makes me feel a bit better. Honestly, ranting has helped me out a lot. The forum contests have also been great. I'm a pretty competitive kid, and I always love a challenge. There's also that whole IPA thing going on. The IPA Apprentice contest was incredible fun (especially when I won :D ). I had a blast coming up with ideas for the challenges, the splicing being my favorite part. There's also the good ol' RP section. Role playing is one of my favorite things to do. I love to write. Well, it's really impossible to fit everything I <3 about PvF in one paragraph, but you can trust me that I've grown attached to this place. Leaving has become something I don't think I'll do. PvF is like....a weird internet family. And I luv you guys to pieces. ;-)

Great to hear that you guys have gotten so much out of this place. ;-) Makes me glad that I started PV and the forums. Thanks everyone!

This one is really hard to judge since everyone did such a great job... So, I'm gonna give everyone who entered 30 points (Silver, Poik, BFC, Saber)! Plus, an extra 10 to Poik, for his funny infomercial entry. Good job guys! New challenge coming in a couple days.
