Re: Up and Comming
AHA! The latest Nintendo Power is mine!
Look at all the awesome RPGs comeing up! Look at them! LOOK AT THEM!
There's a Valkyrie Profile coming out for the DS! I've played Valkyrie Profile 2 once, and I loved the game! Even though, by reading the article, it doesn't seem as it the Valkyrie will be playable, I still really wanna get this game. I LOVE Norse mythology!
And then there's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. I have Ring of Fates (and I feel I'm close to completion unless a plot device suddenly springs up. Only been playing around 8 hours, though >.<), which is a fun game (albeit short, or so I belive). Looks like it'll be easier dto do multiplayer, which will be awesome.
And....FIRE EMBLEM: SHADOW DRAGON! YAYAYAYAYAY!
Not to mention I saw an add in the Nintendo Power for Rune Factory 2. It's out?! Darn it all, I didn't see it around Christmastime! Where are you Rune Factory 2?!
Woah, look, it actually let me upload a photo for once. That's new. Sorry for it's giantness, but it's too awesome.

Re: Up and Comming
He was in FE6, or Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals (which is the english translation, at least. I believe the original tital is Fuuin no Tsurugi, or something). FE6 is for the GBA, but it's in Japaneese. You could buy it and use it in an English GBA/DS/whatever, but it'd be in Japaneese.
He's the son of Eliwood, the main character of FE7 (Rekka no Ken, I believe, and the English translation is Blazing Sword, though the game is just called Fire Emblem in the English version).
I like Fire Emblem.

Re: Up and Comming
So you know, the first Valkryie Profile was a Playstation game, though a rather rare one. A couple years back they ported it to the PSP. VP2 is a prequel, I think (haven't played it yet, but it's fairly high on my list). The DS one is a new game entirely and I'm not sure yet how it fits into the series.
Shadow Dragon is a remake of the first Fire Emblem, right?

Re: Up and Comming
Well, having not played the first Valkryie Profile, and only having played the second for like 10 minutes (though I saw my friend play it for more like 30), I don't know how the game fits in either. I read the article, though, and it looks like it's about some guy who's actually out to kill the Valkryie, cuz he sees it as that the Valkyrie killed his father (the Valkyries guided dead souls who had fallen in battle to Valhalla, the realm for dead warriors). So, Hel, for reasons unkown, decides to help him out. Something like that.Josiah wrote:So you know, the first Valkryie Profile was a Playstation game, though a rather rare one. And, yes, Shadow Dragon is a remake of the original Fire Emblem.

Re: Up and Comming
Just thought a few members here may be interested to know that Resistance is coming to the PSP this March, it's the story of what happens in Europe after Nathan has his fun. You play as just a plain old human, so no more godlike regeneration qualities, but apparently they're putting out some new things that give you a hint of a chance for survival - and really, you couldn't expect more than a hint from a game series that was planning on making their second game title "Resistance 2: United We Fall"
Also, if anyone here has a Steam account, the Dawn of War 2 beta goes from closed to open on the 28th. If you have a Steam account, I recommend you take the short while of downloading the game and at least try a map or two. I had the last expansion to DoW, which was the ticket to the closed beta, and I can tell you now that this game looks and plays great! Very fast paced, really fun, and easy to use as soon as you play a map or two!

I've got a friend who imported Final Fantasy Dissidia (the PSP FF fighting game), it looks really awesome.

The Resident Evil 5 Demo is pretty awesome. And the "The Conduit" looks like an actually decent FPS for the Wii.

It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*

Re: Up and Comming
Two months... then RE5 will be mine! And possibly Killzone 2 if the demo doesn't suck, although Sony haven't exactly been the most generous with their demos for major games... (No Resistance 2? WTF?) Also, even though Free Radical is responsible for Haze and has gone bankrupt I still pray for Timesplitters 4.

Re: Up and Comming
I love the way you say it's "responsible" for Haze, that came out when I was working at EB Games still and we had a deal where anyone who preordered it can trade it in 2 weeks later at full price because the company had been assured that it would be the Halo of Sony. So of course, when it comes out and everyone finds out that it's crap (And it's not even similar to the story on the trailer), almost every copy came back and virtually none sold while I was still there...Doodleshark wrote:Two months... then RE5 will be mine! To summarize that rant, I hate waiting for Final Fantasy XIII.

Re: Up and Comming
Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance 2 apparently both used all the 50gb of space available on the Blu-ray disc... does that count? Also, Killzone 2 looks incredible graphics-wise (a recent gameplay video I saw was actually bucketloads prettier than the target render trailer... eat that, post-E3 2005 controversy). I just have a simple problem with it... So far the gameplay looks identical to CoD:4; except, you know, not anywhere near as good original. That's why I refuse to buy it until I have either played the demo or read some reviews. Of course, my mediocrity-obsessed stepbrother is probably going to buy it anyways...Josiah wrote:And, of course, the US release would probably be a lot sooner if they hasn't decided to release it at the same time as the 360 version, which is probably going to be a real pain to make since the 360 uses regular DVDs and might not actually be strong enough to run the game as is since the PS3 at full power (which, admittedly, hasn't come anywhere close to being used yet) is considerably stronger than the 360...
