TERRA'S A POET AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW IT

Post by terra5 »

Yeah. Out of complete and utter boredom, I decided to write a poem about snowflakes.
I liked it so much, I wrote about three more.

What is the joy of a Snowflake?
Etched with Patterns pure,
The Ivory shade, perfect while it falls
Until it meets the ground, and Disappears.

One of the better things sky makes,
They don't last, don't endure
Obeying the ground insistent call
Floating from a drop sheer.

Many there are, many there will be
Covering the earth in icy quiet
Together they are shapeless
Apart, Patterns that melt in a breath
Or in the heat of the sun.

Perfect white, far as the eye can see
Natural beauty, you cannot buy it
Completely simple in its greatness
Like the sea in it's depth
As god proclaimed, "It is done"

I'll post the others later.

Here's math. If you cannot figure out what my feelings are on math, you need help.

Positive, Negative, Numbers Prime
Watching the clock as it makes it's way
Odd, Even, Many lines
In one place it always seems to stay

Decimals, Fractions, Exponents
A recipe for Madness
Addition, Subtraction, Graph components
It drowns me in sadness

Squared, Cubed, X and Y
Some people think it Sublime
Multiplication, Division, Area wide
They think it work of the Divine

Percentage, Zeros, Functions Quadratic
I have to protest
Parabolas, Pi, Mathematics,
What use will there be in Real-life quests?!

This one is a bit longer than the others, and has a different pattern.

Science grips my interest with claws of Iron
Plants to animals to things in a pond
Make up the subject of which I am fond
There's only truth, written by no liars

Books of info, always fact
From Archeology to Microbiology
From Marine biology to Zoology
Lying there, Rack upon rack

Coming from people who are sure in their smarts
Who are teaching science to kids of all ages
Who are teaching to kids of all different stages
Practicing, perfecting, a factual art

Hoping that some will improve their knowledge
Hoping to find all there is to know
It's highly unlikely, but even so
To improve their understanding, they go to college

Sometimes, it's found in unlikely places
A memory, a legend, a piece of advice
Even a passing reference will suffice
Experiments help in making bases

You may not understand why I love sciences
To you it may seem boring and dull
But while you say that, over this mull
How do you think they make IPods and Appliances?

They're all pretty good, but some parts just seem a little bit awkward and out of place while reading it. I think the math one seems to flow pretty well though. Anyways great job Terra right some more! :P

A Language arts poem.

Reading, writing, all that stuff
Many boys would rather be buff
But weights and muscles are not all that
What will you do when it comes time for SAT?

Reading is a workout for the mind
It makes you think, helps you redraw the line
Reading also helps you during a test
What will you do if you can't read the rest?

Adjectives, Nouns, Verbs aplenty
Will help you when you write essays many
Prepositions, Subjects, Pronouns you see,
Once you get the idea, it flows with ease

DGP is sadly nessesary
As it improves understnading, however scary
Monday to Friday, every week
Over and over, till correctly we speak

The literature books, big and heavy,
Sometimes seems the weight of a small Chevy
It weighs on your back, making stairs a chore
Until you read it, and then you want more.

Language arts isn't an easy class
But with a little work, everyone shall pass
Reading and writing is fun, take a look
Until you have to write your own book!

Nice work there. Didn't expect this from you. (not that writing poems is a bad thing, ja? I personally suck at it.)

Lunch themed limmerick. Luq helped me with it.

Kids stand in line, waiting their turn
Taking a break from all that they learn
As they meet friends, their mouths never shut
Until one person decides to cut
Why is this person never spurned?

Those are pretty nice poems!
The math one was really neat (though I do disagree with your opinion. Not that I love math, I just don't hate it).

The limrick just doesn't seem to have the right flow, though. The rhymed couplet (lines 3 and 4) should be shorter than the other lines for it to have the right flow. If you say it out loud, it sounds a bit awkward.

Other than that, pretty good.
May the Triforce be with you.

And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid." ~ William Ernest Henley

This one I'm especially proud of.

Can you name the people who are always there?
Can you name the people who will always care?
Can you name the people who will never lurk
When you're unhappy?

Can you name the people who drive you mad?
Can you name the people who make you sad?
Can you name the people who make you glad
Without being sappy?

Can you name the people who can help you rise?
Can you name the people who can aid your demise?
Can you name the people who can tolerate you
Without getting weary?

Can you name the people who know you like the back of their hand?
Can you name the people who won't laugh when you Faceplant in the sand?
Can you name the people who can help
You become cheery?

Can you name the people who help you on the brink?
Can you name the people who help you to think?
Can you name the people?

You may call them friends
But I call them Guardian angels.

I think it's my best poem yet.
