It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*

Yeah, I've seen that one. Haven't seen the second one, though. I personally thought the first Aladdin was the best. I liked that song at the beginning....totally blanking at the words. Used to know them all.Astral Omega wrote:The king Midas story is great. YOu know what else is? QUOTE TUNNELS!NabMaster wrote:It most certainly was - that plate was definitely her favourite haha. As for my favorite Disney song....that's impossible to say. THere are so man! I'll Make a Man Out of You is very good, as is Reflection. Lion King also has great songs, as does Hercules. Oh, and we just watched Hercules in English class. We're doing a unit on heroes, and they all tend to follow certain guidelines (a "descent into darkness", a protecting charm, a hazardous journey, etc.). It bugs me that the Disney movie is nothing like the real myth, but on its own it's pretty cool. Zero to Hero is a good song, as is I Won't Say I'm in Love. Jungle Book was also cool! How could I forget about Shere Khan? He has my vote for best villian, and that may or may not be because I played Shere Khan in our production of The Jungle Book (and I may or may not have been totally awesome, though the first is more likely :D ).
May the Triforce be with you.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! I actually have all three Aladin movies on DVD.
Going off of what Saber said, there's this thing called the hero's journey, which most "hero" stories follow. It goes something like this (though I don't have my book handy, so I'm probably a little off): The Ordinary Life (pretty self explanatory > The Call to Adventure (hero is called to adventure, usually by some other person) > The Journey (the hero leaves, begins the journey, makes friends and enemies, etc) > The Final Battle (the hero faces off against the villian) > Return to the Ordinary Life (the hero either returns home or realizes that, because of things that happened during the journey, he either can't or doesn't want to). I think I over simplified it a little, but you get the idea.
If you're talking about Greek hero myths though, those follow a somewhat different pattern. Something like this: Hero's Origin (about the hero's origins) > Heroic Journey (the hero does great things) > Hubris (the hero brings about his own downfall by pride, overconfidence, or something similiar), The Result (usually the hero doesn't survive his downfall, if he does, he sometimes gets the chance to make restitution, otherwise he typically disapears into seclusion).

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Basically. The format in our class is The call to Adventure > The goal of the adventure > The hazardous journey > The temptations > The descent into darkness (traditionally, the hero heading to the final battle) > The wound recieved > The actual prize of the quest (for example, guy sets out to find mighty gauntlet of power but the real prize is how he learned not to be prideful and a jerk). There is also the charm that protects the hero. We have these little charts (which I've come to loathe) that we have to fill in for every of of these stories.Josiah wrote:Hi! Yeah, Hera was typically a villian, or just a jerk. Especially in the Aeneid. Hades was cool. And he's named after Mickey Mouse's dog! Or was that the other way around.BionicleMandi121 wrote:Ooh, Hades! I love that guy, even if he is a villain! He's not supposed to be one, but whatever.
Aladin # the first is arguably the best movie Disney ever made. The third was okay, but the second kind of dropped out. We didn't even bother getting it and we have a bunch of old Disney VHS tapes.
