Hi! Now Gar, eveyone knows Silver's relationship troubles are all because of that alien incident a few years back...
Yom Kippur is more of a holy day than a holiday. You know how I said Rosh Hashannah is said to be the day that God decides who will live and who will die in the coming year (once again, that's not in the Bible, it's just Jewish tradition)? Well, tradition is that Rosh Hashannah is the day when all those decisions are finalized. If you just go by the Bible, it says to have a holy convocation (gathering), not to work, and to afflict your souls (the traditional interpretation of inflicting your souls is go without eating or drinking for the whole day). A traditional Yom Kippur service mostly involves a whole lot of liturgy (traditional prayers) about repenting for your sins and asking for forgiveness.
Services usually start at sunset the previous day and go till around sunset on the day of Yom Kippur (since Jewish holidays go from sunset to sunset). Once the sun is down, Yom Kippur is over and everyone can eat again. It's most widely observed Jewish holiday (with the possible exception of Chanukah) and even a lot of Jews who aren't very religious (which is, acutally, the majority of Jews) will attend Yom Kippur services.
Portal Panic (and maybe some other stuff) will update tonight. Or possibly sooner if my school's intranet doesn't get fixed soon. Kinda hard to do my homework when I can't access the assignments...
Hey.
Just got back from Marching Band.
Okay, so my friend (we'll call her "R", because I have issues with revealing names) is in marching band with me, and so is my other friend (we'll call him "C" for the same reason).
So, I've known R for almost a year, but we're already really close friends (she was on my Destination Imagination team), and she's the only 8th grader in the band. C has been my friend since 4th grade (he's the one who people usually ask if I'm dating (or if we're siblings. Not sure how that works...). I don't know why it's usually him out of all of my guy friends, but it just is). So, at band camp, we went back to our cabins for the night (4 girls in ours, all the rest of the girls were in the other cabin. In ours was 3 freshmen and R), and we were just talking about stuff. Like people we had crushes on (I personally have never had a crush, which shocked the others). R said she just got a new crush recently, and we pestere her. She said it was a 9th grader. I said I probably wouldn't know who it was, so she could just continue. Then, my other friend goes "Is it C?" and R says "yeah." I was sooo surprised! C and I are close friends, but I could never picture him in a relationship with anyone.
Next day at band camp, for some reason the chair C is sitting at has a knife while the others have only forks and spoons. He delclares it "lucky knife" and then proceedes to tell R how you correctly slice an arm open, and invents a song. The words are: "Lucky knife, lucky knife. Good for stabbing! Good for stabbing! Maybe a little slice 'n' dice. Maybe a little slice 'n' dice."
I talked to R later on, saying "do you still have a crush on him?" Surprisngly enough, her answer was yes.
Soo, it's been about a month and a half, and I was talking to R and she said she still had a crush on him. We were talking, and I said she should just run up to him and shout "I LIKE YOU!" and then run off.
By now, most of my friends knows she has a crush on him. I think he knew. So, when I got to band, I learned they were dating, which I met with laughter. They don't really act like they're dating, C still teases R about everything ('specially about being short), like he teases everyone else. They did hug at the end, but then again C went around and hugged 6 or so people.
I don't know, but for some reason I'm really happy about this, even if it's really not much of a relationship.
Oh, and for another exciting thing at band today, E (brass section leader, name issues again) came up behind me and lifted me off the ground suddenly. I screamed (I really don't do that very often. It's extremly hard to spook me, and if I do get spooked, I scream for about half a second.) really loud and really high. I haven't had someone do that to me since I was 6 or so. It was really surprising.
After the football game, we chilled in the band room, and were doing trust falls like we did at lunch (we eat lunch in the band room on band days). It was amusing. We then did trust pendjulums, where you fell forward and the person pushed you backwards, where another person pushed you forward again. C then gave me a piggy back, after giving E a piggy back ride, who in turn had just given him one. T'was fun.
Bleh. Don't know why. Just felt like saying a lot. Jeeze, that was even longer than expected.
In conclusion, band is fun.
May the Triforce be with you.

So anyways, I downloaded the demo for Biochock on the ol' PS3 today. Good fun. Atlas has a kewl accent. Also, today I found out that Chimeran Hybrids explode when you hit them with jeeps travelling at 50 miles per hour.
Gar: That was just the swearing off of marriage as a waste of time, money, and lives. The anti-romance sentiment came about as a result of that alien incident. Which I thought we agreed to never talk about again...
But seriously. I already gave you my rant about how much trouble the whole concept has caused, not to mention why I think it's over-rated and unecessary. I'm just not interested anyway. In all my seventeen years, I've not once had a 'crush' on anyone else... male or female, before we get into that subject which is better off avoided. Let me tell you, being president of an anime club full of yaoi fangirls is a dangerous job... Anyway. Since like the second grade I've been hearing, "Oh, you think it's icky now, but when you're older..." So here I am, Senior in High School. I've successfully proved them all wrong. An achievement I'm quite proud of, by the way. I do enjoy sticking it to the man. And being a "Great Guy" has nothing to do with it. Think about it for a second. I really don't act differently when comparing online Silver to real life Silver... could you really immagine me dating anyone?
So that's a Jibblie-inducer if I've ever seen one.
Oh, and another thing. My dad didn't leave my mom. Well, I guess you could argue that he left her and everything else... by which I mean he died. Of lung cancer. [D.A.R.E. Officer Silver] And that's why, folks, if someone offers you a cigarette, you hit them. Hard. Geez, that was a close one... but I made it without so much as using the word 'trap'. Oh, how I love the Internet...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate." Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.
Hi! Heck, I'm in grad school and I haven't dated yet. I've had crushes before, but I'm big on waiting for the right person before dating and I'm in no real hurry. As I said in the rant thread, I think most people start dating way too young.
And yeah, I'd go for that approach to anti-smoking.
Konbanwa.
Freshman in college, no dates here either. I'll admit I had crushes (long time ago), but even the longest lasted only a month. And thinking back on it, it's likely none of them were ever REALLY crushes; I just called them that because I didn't know what a crush was. I certainly didn't think of any of them in a romantic way. It was always a sort of "Oh, he's pretty cool, I'm really glad I'm friends with him." Which I don't think counts as a crush. My roommates are trying to talk me into attending some dance parties and meeting some guys to see if I'd like any of them, but once they mentioned guys hitting on me or freaking (not quite sure what that means, but I have some idea), I decided I'd rather not bother. I am also positive I'm not interested in girls either, despite some people asking me about that after I express disinterest in the opposite gender.
As for smoking...I decided a long time ago to not take drugs of any kind unless it's required medication for some illness I may have. So that pretty much includes both smoking and drinking. Whoo.

Yeah, I'm not sure what a crush is exactly supposed to be. I was talking to my Gotta Camp budies (when it was just all the girls) and the subject came up and I said I'd never had a crush, and didn't really know what a crush was like. They tried to explain it to me, but it just seemed illogical and made little sense.
Bleh. Don't think I'll ever get a crush for some years to come.

I believe if you really love someone, then relationships are fine. But if your having a boy/girlfriend for the sake of having one, I'm not that comfortable with that. I've never dated anyone before, and I'm okay with that. I'm also waiting for the right person.
I agree with people these days dating way too young. Many people I know had boy/girlfriends before high school. They usually lasted a month or less. It was more of a peer pressure thing I guess.
But I do know a sophomore couple that's been together for over a year, so I don't know. I guess there really is no right age for dating, just everyone's personal opinion.
Silver, I think you'll be happy to know the current song stuck in my head is the One Piece theme song.

Eh, I like the good old gray, light grey, and blue forums. This one kinda has clashing colors. Then again, I'm using subsilver 2, so maybe it looks different on the other forum format or whatever it's called.
