Nintendo's Media Summits

Post by Cheezdude »

This is not a flop. This was an awesome show, and way better than E3. Recap time.

A New System, the Nintendo DSi was announced.
-It has a camera on the back for webcam + voice chat (which I though Nintendo was too family friendly to attempt)
-No more GBA slot. Which isn't good.
-You can use a photoshop type program to mess with pictures you take.
-External Storage Place added for DSWARE games, transfered to DS with SD card. Also, pre-N64 games can be played, and possibly some Wiiware with the touch screen. No N64 because of C-Stick. It'd be pretty sweet to play Paper Mario on DS. Aaaaanyway...
-Built-it Opera Brand browser
-Free 100 points for DSes connected to interwebs by March 2010.

Non-DSi Stuff
-McDonalds will have... Nintendo Zones? o.o
-Mario and Luigi 3! The second one was awesome.
-WII STORAGE SOLUTION! Oh yes! Download Games onto the SD Card, and play them off of SD cards. WIN! Next Spring, though.
-Helping someone set up WiFi gets you Wii Points.
-Punch-Out!! Wii!
Image
-Sin and Punishment 2
-Picross DS 3D
-Endless Ocean 2
-Gamecube games being remade. Pikmen 1 and 2, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Chibi-Robo, Mario Power Tennis

DSi Release Dates:
Japan: November 1, 2008
Europe: Spring 2009
North America: Late 2009

Europe before us? Insanity!

Recycled Gamecube games for the Wii... :-q Does anyone else not find this cheap and lazy? Why not make a new Pikmin instead of porting the old ones?

Meh... I'm being overly cynical. It was alright. (Although honestly, I didn't really follow it. Too busy looking forward to Blizzcon.)

It's a cheap sales tactic. It's pretty much just including wii-based movements.

I'm pretty glad they've made the gamecube remakes. It saves me money from having to by a gamecube controler, a gamecube memory card, and the actuall gamecube game itself.

Well yes, unlike the rest of us who owned Gamecubes and whom Nintendo expects to buy the same games we already played five years ago.

You know that you can play Gamecube games on the Wii right? It's fully backwards compatible and all...

So, I'm excited about Mario & Luigi 3 and the fact that Club Nintendo is finally coming to the US (why should Japan get all the cool bonus stuff?). The new DS though... On the one hand, it has some neat new features. On the other hand, if any games take advantage of those features you won't be able to play them on an old DS. And the lack of a GBA slot is problematic for games that use the slot for something (like Pokémon D/P). Those issues annoy me but, that said, I'm sure I'll get one. I'd like a PSP 3000 too for that matter, although I suppose it's lower priority since the main advantage there over my current PSP is just being able to plug it into the TV.

This is my RP Forum, Tales of Symphonia Adventures, or ToSA for short. Please take a look?

I know. That's why Nintendo making Gamecube games specifically for the Wii comes across as lazy to me.

*More cynical ranting.*

I bought them, but it's useful for people like Gar.

Pikmen 3 is comfirmed.

It all depends how much effort they put into the remakes. I mean, I've been dying for a Wii version of Mario Tennis and, while a whole new version would be nice, I'd settle for the Gamecube version with Wiimote motion controls.

QUICK! SOMEONE MAKE A PETITION ABOUT POKEMON STILL BEING ABLE TO BE TRADED FROM GBA! EVERYONE ELSE SIGN IT! Or something like that. Pffft, why buy something I already have? My DS Lite is still fully functional, and, why the hell is voice chat on a DS new? Also, I still haven't finished KH: Chain of Memories so I need my GBA slot. Nintendo is starting to worry me...

Video and voice chat - we'll be able to see each other. Which is only slightly scary.

-.- Just because it's out there, Kisori, doesn't mean everyone has it or is able to use it. You should know that by now.

Yeah. Heck, I have it, but I never use it. But I think that's just my inner dislike for phones coming out
