Well, I was in my fourth grade class when the twin towers collapsed. I think our teacher was reading a story when another teacher rushed in and started whispering to her. I don't exactly remember what happened, but a girl told me that some buildings were blown up and I imediantly thought that they were my house and the building my dad worked at(FYI, he was in the Air Force). As you can tell, our teacher didn't tell us what happened, but I was slightly releaved when I found out that the attack was in New York. I thought that my grandparents were in the crash, but nobody told me that it happened in New York City and not Long Island. Luckly, my mom filled me in when I got home. All the while, I was wondering why someone would do that.

Which remindes me, a couple of days ago, I was reading about Westboro Babtist Church and Fred Phelps. Too put it delicatly, they are extreame homophobes. The actually approve of the attacks, thinking that God wanted the attack to happen as punishment for the U.S. accepting gays and lesbiens. All the while, I'm thinking "I would love to see the shock and suprise on their faces when they find out that they are the ones that-" I'm going to leave it off there, or else I'll say something that would offend everybody here.

Konnichiwa.

I was...in sixth grade, I think (geez, how time flies). First found out about it when my dad turned on the TV to watch the news while I was eating breakfast. At the time, I thought he was just watching a movie, since all I saw on the screen was a burning wall (which later turned out to be the Pentagon). I didn't learn exactly what happened 'til I actually got to school, where we basically sat and watched the news all day, almost. Can't quite remember what I was feeling at that time.
Funny, I get the feeling I've typed this out before.

Don't talk about Fuzzy like that! He lived a good life! So did Inchou-Mushi! And Berry! and Fuzzy Jr.... And Inchou-Mushi Jr.... and Fuzzy the Third... Ok, well they all died before making it to Butterflydom, but Gobura-kun is different! He's not going to turn into a coccoon of death!

As we speak (as I type?), there is one appropriately named Matt Lowe trying his hand at computer doctoring on my poor Compy. His mom taught computer at my old school... and apparently he picked up a few things. I haven't gone to check the status yet - it's like waiting outside the emergency room, I'm too nervous to go in there and it's... my room - but he's usually pretty good about this type of thing. For even offering though, Josiah, you continue to win at life, and should Dr. Lowe fail to save my Compy's life... it's nice to know I still have hope.

Heso! And while we're talking about that particular September eleventh... I know I've mentioned this before... it was my tenth birthday, fifth grade, Science class. I mean, I didn't find out until later... I was all psyched 'cause it was my birthday. Then people started leaving early... we played silent ball in math class, because there weren't enough people to justify learning anything. So that was kinda fun. Then I went home and it was all... "OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS ENDING!!1!shift!" on TV. Pretty much everywhere was closed, which made proper birthday celebrations hard... which was kinda not fun. I didn't know anyone in the towers, so it didn't really affect me, except for, you know, making for a crappy birthday. Because, as we all know, Osama Bin Laden has a personal vendetta against me, and that's why the whole mess happened.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

*breathes in deeply to calm self*
I would really love to slap those people who hate gays and lesbians so much. I really would.
I have a good friend who's gay, and a friend who's older sister is bisexual.
I'll stop myself here, or I'll begin ranting. I may have to write in the rant thread....

9/11...I was in 2nd grade. My sister was home, though, and she remembers our babysitter running down the stairs, crying at what had happened. I didn't understand death very well in 2nd grade quite yet, so it didn't impact me too much....but when I think about it now....
I'm not extremly religious, really don't pray too much, but every 9/11 I pray. Our school also holds a moment of silence for those who died.

And, now to switch gears....
So, I'm in the school Marching Band, and we're really cool 'n' stuff and the Governor of Massachusetts (where I live) came to our school, and of all school-activities the prinipal reccomended that he see the Marching Band, becuase he believes we're really good and underappriciated.
So, we had a rehersal earlier today, and we're all nervous 'n' stuff since the Governor is coming, and then he came, and it was cool! We played our song for him, and we didn't mess up or anything! That's always a plus. So, then our principal says "Is there anything you want to tell the Govenor about marching band?" No one says anything for a bit, then my friend (who stands next to me) says.
"Trumpets rock." And everyone cracks up, including the Governor. There were some more questions after that, and then he shook all of our hands.
On a slightly less exciting note, today I signed up to be a hockey reff. I'm going to a seminar with my friend (the same one mentioned earlier) and we're going to train to be a reff. Then, I can reff games and get payed! Whoo!

So, yeah, my day was pretty exciting. Except for the homework. That was not so exciting. I feel kinda bad about having such a good day on 9/11...
Oh, and Thursdays are generally my bad days as well. I probably won't get to post too much on Thursdays, cuz I have band practice and I usually also have hockey practice.
May the Triforce be with you.

I was in my first year of college ((I was 17)) when it happened. My parents were away in Turkey at the time and I was staying with my grandparents. I came in and it was on the news. I saw the first plane hit and I asked "What movie is this?"

We'd been in collage for hours and not one work from the staff. As you can expect, I freaked out when I found out and was franticaly trying to get ahold of my parents. Of course, they were fine, as they were in Turkey and not in the air anyway, but it was murder for them to get back a week later. The whole thing was just unreal at the time, horrible. Even know when I watch the clips, its hard to imagin it actualy happening, but it did, which makes watching it even worse.

I don't remember much about that day. I remember coming out to have breakfast, ready to go to school and the TV was on... it's never on in the morning and mum was watching a news channel.
It may seem heartless but i was just 'that's horrible' then went to school and went about my day as normal with only a little chatter about the incident but really It just seemed so unreal that I felt a certain detachment- still do!

I get that it was horrible, people died and it ruined lived of many other people who didn't actually die, but I don't feel any emotion about it. It was on the other side of the world, I don't know anybody affected... heck I don't think I know anybody who knows anybody involved.
And I don't feel fear about a terrorist attack happening where I live because we're not really important enough.

They say that today's generaton is desensitised due to all the violence we see on TV... could this be true? That's scarier than a terrorist attack...

It's amazing that nobody thought of doing that in a movie. I mean Hollywood is always trying to destroy New York or London (mostly New York) and nobody crashed a plane into the World Trade Centre Or the Pentagon. It actually would have made a great movie scene... not so much anymore I think.

I'm going to post that National Geographic article now, but I need to make one thing clear. I am in no way, shape, or form related to National Greographic(I just guy the magazines) or Joel Achenbach(the guy who wrote the article). I did not write this, and I am not taking credit in this.

I think you will find they did. It's actualy one of the 9/11 conspiracy theories. I can't remeber the name of the film/ TV Series, but there was something like that released BEFORE 9/11. A plane was hijacked and nearly flew into the world trade center, but didn't. Conspiracy nuts say it was a warning, but the director was like 'What are you talking about?'

I didn't mind much 9/11 for a very simple reason: I know nobody who lives in New York and people die EVERY SINGLE DAY to stuff like that except not in as grandiose ways.

There is...still some hidden satisfaction from having the US attacked on their own soil for once.

Cha! The post 9/11 world sucks.

Fear of terrorist attacks, bad ecconomic depression, gloabal warming, lack of faith in governments, unemplyment, low fuel reserves, gun crime, perverts, drugs...i'd hate to be a kid now. They can't even safly go and play in a field without fear of being snatched, attacked, robbed or offered drugs.

Gee, I'll keep that in mind if/when Cananda gets attacked by terrorists. <.<

Hi! I've got a bunch of homework and other projects to work on today but not much that involves me leaving my apartment so I'll be on an off the forums throughout. Mafia, Portal Panic, and whatever else I need to post in will get posts sometime today.

Nya. If terrorists attack Canada, they'll most likely either blow up the Rogers Centre, the C.N Tower, or um....a Tim Horten's.

-brick'd-

Only true canadians will get that joke.

Hey.
I don't mind 9/11 just because it was in the United States. I just hate death. A lot.
Like the tsunami a few years back. It still makes me depressed to think about all of the people who died there.
I hate the war. A lot.

In other news, my first football game is today. We also had a spirit day today. All of the marching band people (well, at least some of them) dressed as superheroes today. It was a good excuse to wear a cape all day. ^_^
