^ Just ninja'd me

< Would like to remind everyone that Luffy has punched through a cape of giant metal SPIKES. And that was like, in the beginning of the series. As such, no magic cape stands a chance.

< Would also like the mention that (Putting a spoiler warning here because this could completely ruin Enies Lobby) Usopp's firebird star didn't melt Luffy at all.

v Should really just concede that shounen anime characters in general just have to be stronger than video game characters, because video game characters have to have limits in order to make the games challenging. Anime characters, however, have to keep getting stronger and stronger, coming up with new impossibly powerful attacks every other episode, to prevent the series from getting dull. Which is why < doesn't think anime and video game characters should ever be compared in terms of strength; they're in completely different leagues.
