"I suppose I wouldn't mind, and I am curious about that sword of yours. Although I warn you, these weapons were made for serious battles, not sparring. Though it's not my intent, if the battle gets intense you could be seriously injured, or worse."
Rune smiled, relieved that the other showed some small amount of concern for his well-being. "Well then, I guess we'll just have to make sure that this match doesn't get too intense. Even if it does and I recieve a wound, provided that it's not fatal, I can use some healing spells and take care of it myself. So please don't concern yourself too much about me."

Rune placed his fingertips on the blade of his katana, running them upwards along the ornate carvings. "Awaken, Meteaura. I now envoke your protection." Each of the carvings began to glow, surrounding the blade in their light. The shinigami then took his own fighting stance.

Rune saw the attack coming and side-stepped, blocking Thane's saber with his katana. Before Thane could pull back, he parried the saber and struck at Thane's side.

Thane spun around and blocked the attack then did a back flip, putting a little distance between himself and Rune, and fired his blaster at the Soul Reaper's feet.
The blaster shots scorched the grassy ground where Rune had been standing but a moment before. Rune was up in the air, flying gracefully towards his opponent. His sword was prepared for a strike once he came within a suitable range.

"Now that, I wasn't expecting..." Thane muttered, quite surprised to see that he opponent could fly without wings or a jet pack. Raising his hand, he used a force blast to knock Rune back then followed it up with several more shots from his blaster.
Rune found himself being knocked back in the air by some unseen force. He managed to regain control and flip himself in the air, landing easily on his feet. But he didn't have time to formulate his next move as more blaster shots were fired at him. Before the shots hit their intended target, Rune quickly brought up his sword and deflected them.

Rune managed to dodge the last blaster shot and locked blades with Thane. It then became a grandstanding match with them both trying to knock the other to the ground. The shinigami soon parried the saber, jumping back to put a bit of distance between himself and the foreign traveler. He spared a moment for a quick smile. "Well... I would say this is rather fun."

Rune blushed slightly. "Um... Thanks, I guess. Your skills are quite amazing.", he replied. Then he brought up his katana, the runes on the blade glowing brightly once more. "Ascend, Meteaura!" The blade then split apart into a cloud of shuriken, which remained hovering around their owner. "What do you think of this one, Thane?"

"It's certainly very unique." Thane frowned, wondering exactly what kind of technology was in that sword. "I don't think I've ever seen a weapon like that."
