Haven't seen much Digimon stuff since coming here, aside from some DVDs. As for D. Gray-Man, although I haven't seen a ton of merchandise a lot of my students like it.

It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.

So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*

Not sure. Haven't decided if I want to get a Japanese version or not due to the whole language issue.

Okay, here is a question. I’ve seen it on America shows, you guys have ‘garage sales’ like on toy story two were you sell your stuff on your lawn, but here in the UK we have ‘boot sales’. These are when groups get together at a set location and sell all of there stuff like you do at garage sales, but they do it on little stalls, or like the name implies, from the boot (trunk) of there cars.

Is there anything like that in the USA? I’m not talking about professional sales, I mean my Jo average getting rid of his unwanted culture all meeting up at one place, like a market place when the market is not open, or a school playing field on a Sunday.
Taken from the US thread, but do you have anything like this in Japan?

"Shauni fell down a drainage ditch and died. That was the end of her pokemon journey. "--Shauni

I've heard from my friend's sister (who lives in Japan) that some families have one room houses. Have you seen these anywhere?

Yep. There are big flea market events like that. If you look back through my Old News posts in PV you'll see that I even went to some. Haven't seen any individual yard sales yet though (probably cause hardly anyone has a yard).

Well, my apartment is more or less one room (if you don't count the bathroom). Anyway, I've only been in two people's houses so far since coming here (in Japan it's more common to go somewhere with someone than to invite them to your house) and they were both a decent size. So yeah, it's true that some poorer families live like that (especially in the bigger cities where rent is really expensive) but I haven't personally seen it yet.

No. I think most of the people I was with are way too old for that. Although one of the younger guys did a Gundam theme.

Japanese people like Halloween. It's not an official holiday here but a decent amount of stores and restaurants and the like have Halloween decorations up, Halloween specials, etc. Although here Halloween seems to focus mainly on the decor (pumpkins, ghost, etc) and the costumes, candy doesn't seem to be as big a part of it (at least from what I've seen so far) and I don't think there's trick-or-treating.

I've seen Death Note. Never heard of How to Read 13 though. Although, I wasn't really looking either...

I know that this question isn't about Japan, but I just want to know. Why cant Jews eat pork if it can't be Kosher, why can't pork be Kosher, and what is Kosher. and for the recored, do they have Kosher in Japan?

There's a couple different definitions of kosher. First off is the Biblical definition, which is what I follow. In the Bible book of Leviticus, there's a chapter where God gives laws about what people can and can't eat. Here's a quick summary (that's gonna be missing a few of the less important details):
1. Don't drink blood. Not much of an issue now a days unless you like extremely rare steaks or want to become a vampire.
2. Don't eat things that were strangled. Once again, not really an issue since commercial meat animals aren't killed this way.
3. You can eat animals that live on land only if they have a split hoof and chew their cud. Following this rule, cows are fine but pigs aren't because they don't chew their cud. For another example, camels chew their cud but don't have a true hoof so they can't be eaten.
4. For birds, there's a list of what can and can't be eaten instead of a general rule set. Chicken and turkey are fine. Most of the birds that you can't eat are ones that pretty much no one ever eats anyway.
5. For insects...can't think of the exact phrasing of the rule at the moment. I know they have to have jointed legs... Anyway, it boils down to that you can't really eat any insects except locusts (and I think grasshoppers and crickets too, not that I've ever tried).
6. You can only eat things that live in the water if they have fins and scales. Following this rule, most fish are fine but some (like catfish) aren't because they don't have scales. It should also go without saying that this means no crab, lobster, shrimp, octopus, eel, etc since they don't have fins or scales.

So, things that don't fit those rules can never be kosher. So there's nothing you could do to pork to make it ok. Then there's also rabbinic kosher, which is followed by Orthodox Jews. Aside from all the Biblical stuff, it adds on a whole bunch of other rules created by Orthodox rabbies that detail things like how the animal has to be killed, how to drain the blood, how to prepare and store the meat, etc. They also add on a whole lot of other laws about what makes other foods (stuff that has nothing to do with meat such as crackers, cereal, wine, etc) kosher or not kosher. Those have no Biblical basis whatsoever.

As I already mentioned, I just follow the Biblical definition and don't really care about all the extra stuff the Orthodox insist on adding. Which is good since, if I did, I could only eat certified rabbinic kosher food which is pretty hard to find in many parts of the US, much more so someplace like Japan. As is, I can basically eat whatever meat I want so long as it's not from an unclean animal (one that's forbidden by the Biblical laws mentioned above).

Finally, as far as kosher goes in Japan... There are hardly any Jews in Japan. And by hardly any I mean hardly any. Japan has its own religion (a mix of Budism and Shinto) and most Japanese people follow that (although not very seriously). That's the majority by far although Christianity makes for a fairly strong (but still pretty small) minority. As for Jews, the majority of Jews in Japan at any given time are travelers (buisnessmen, tourists, etc). As such, Judism of any kind and the term kosher are pretty much unknown to your average Japanese person. Tokyo and Osaka (two of Japan's biggest cities) each have a Jewish community center and you could probably find some rabbinically kosher food there but that'd be about it.
