Game Advice
We all like games here- I mean why wouldn't you?
However the purchase and play of games can be difficult at times. So, If oyu're thinking of buying a game or just can't get to that next level here's a place to ask others of they've played the games/ if they can help.
Now, I'm thinking of buying Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. I've seen the meme, I've read about it on the Nintendo site and I'm thinking "That sounds awesome!"
But is it really? Does anyone have this game or know if it really is as awesome as it sounds.
I'm just not about to spend nearly $70 (the price of a regular DS game) on crap game when I could buy something better.
... that Doctor Who Top Trumps I bought doesn't count because it's Doctor Who^^

Re: Game Advice
I've never played a Phoenix Wright game, but I know a few other good games for the DS... Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and New Super Mario Bros. are great platformers, Mario Kart DS is the best game in the series, and you can't go wrong with any of the Advance Wars games, unless you don't like turn-based strategy games, I guess...
...Yeah. That's all I got.

Re: Game Advice
There's a lot of good DS games out there. Doodle recommend some good ones, and you might also want to take a look at the Video Game List thread where a bunch of us have posted lists of our game collections. Some, like me, have even added ratings for every game we've played.
Now, for Phoenix Wright in particular, it's an awesome game (and an awesome series for that matter). The story and writing and great, as are the characters. Keep in mind though, that it's essentially just an interactive novel. Most of the gameplay involves talking to people. Also, replay value if iffy. If you like rereading good books, then it has a decent replay value. If, on the other hand, you read something once and you're done with it forever, you probably won't have any interesting in playing PW again once you beat it.
One more thing, make sure you start with the first game in the series (the one that's just Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, with no subtitle), you don't really want to start in the middle.
One last peice of advice, keep in mind that most portable game systems, the DS included, can play games from all regions (note: this does not apply to the majority of non portable systems). Since game prices are so high for you in Australia, you might want to shop around online and see if you can order an American copy (since we've pretty much got the lowest prices, and the same language) for a bit cheaper. While a lot of major retailers won't ship certain items overseas (so don't bother with places Gamestop or Amazon.com), some small sites and some sellers on popular auction sites like ebay will. Unless they specifically say that they ship internationally, it's best to send them a message first and ask if it would be ok. Naturally the shipping cost will be kinda high, but still a lot cheaper than what you're paying for a new copy.
For example... That links to a auction for the first Phoenix Wright game on ebay. Bidding ends about 2 days from now and the guy will ship internationally. Current bid if about $10 and, judging from recent auctions, it probably won't go above $25 (keep in mind, the US dollar is pretty close to the Austrailian dollar), and it'd be easy to pay him via Paypal.

Re: Game Advice
I've been told The World Ends With You is a very good game.
And, me being a Legend of Zelda fan, I'd have to also reccomend The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass. It'd make a little more sence if you played LoZ: The Wind Waker first, but it's unnecessary (though Wind Waker is a better game).
Hrm....the Pokemon games are always good. There's also Animal Crossing. You can play that game for hours and hours and hours and hours and *drones on*.
Lost Magic is a very good game, though I never finished it (I got stuck on one of the bosses, and really haven't visited it since :P). It makes good use of the DS's touch screen (you draw runes on the touch screen to attack).
Well...that's what I have for now.

Re: Game Advice
Although my recent obsession should make it obvious, Phoenix Wright is AWESOME. But if you start, start on the first. Beside, that has Rise From The Ashes, which is epic. The Stolen Turnabout and Bridge to the Turnabout are great too, though...
Animal Crossing. World Ends With You. New Super Mario Bros. Mario Kart. Advance Wars. Sonic Rush. All those are my favorites. World Ends With You I still need to finish, though. I was caught up with Trails and Tribulations. Day 7 right now. I lost on a boss and haven't picked it on since. I probably got enough PP from that alone for me to win~

Ask Kaida if you need, she paid me with Paypal when I got a CD for her in Japan. I could explain it, of course, but seeing as you two live near each other and all, she could just show you.
And yeah, The World Ends With You is totally awesome so far (I'm like halfway through).

Seems legit? Paypal it totally legit. It's huge. Pretty much everyone on ebay uses it and, in the US anyway, ebay is gigantic.
