Um... .hack?

I've played one of those Ps2 games for like 2 hours maybe, I didn't like it. I know that you play a person playing an MMORPG, but I don't know anything more about the series than that. ROM the comic is about gamers that have been sucked into a computer game, I though for over a year how that would work in the real world, and decided that there soul/ mind would be what was taken, not the physical body, hence Simeon's coma. The headset was inspired by the Nintendo Virtual Boy. I thought about how that would work, so the camera would take an image of the body, and the sensors an image of brain activity. Is this similar to this hack series? If it is let me know, ROM ended up looking like it was inspired by Full Metal Alchemist, when I only picked up the series two years ago.

Rant Title: Pocket Monster White Version

Well, I did it again! I imported a Pokemon game that I can't understand. Did the same with Diamond back in the day haha. Anyway, it just arrived on Wednesday and I've only spent a few hours on it. but from what I've seen Game Freak and Nintendo have outdone themselves. I'll post updates in the news as I progress through the game and let you know how I'm doing. So far I've defeated the first gym leader and am making my way past the day care centre. So far so good!

An invaluable tool for importers is Marrilan's importers game guide http://pokemon.marriland.com/black_whit ... ge/opening . it's been so helpful with items, keeping up with the story and the moves pokemon are learning when they level up. if you are going to import the game like me, I highly recommend referring to this sight as you play...

I find myself at a bit of a predicament however...there is an expression that goes "Good things are like buses, you wait for one for ages then three come at once". This has happened to me. I've got the DS game I've been waiting for all year, and today the new Fallout game comes out on Xbox 360, and the week after Fable 3, and I just bough the new Naruto game! No good games for ages, then all the ones I've been waiting for all year come out the same time my imported game arrives!

What's a girl to go?

Also, my Nintendo wii broke....good job it was still in warranty...by 4 days! We dug the receipt out but noticed we'd been sold the wrong warranty with the console, it had been an Xbox 360 warranty! 3 days and 5 heated phone calls later, and the shop I'd bought it from changed the warranty from 360 to wii, and I've been promised return and repair. Hope it gets fixed soon...

Anyway, next week will see a Halloween special with a DHS http://www.dhscomix.com/ twist!

Srry, is just that .hack has similar-looking headsets and sometimes people playing the MMO in .hack randomly fall into comas, so I thought it was a reference. My bad...

Yeah, I thought .hack instantly, as well... and actually, Shirou did it first, back in the original RP. He was probably inspired by .hack though, based on the way he did it.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

*appears from out of nowhere*

I'm just shocked to discover that ol' Simeon went from a humble beta-tester in the original RP to an outright game developer in the comic. That little mention has got me making several double-takes in flattered/honored embarrassment. I don't know if I should thank you, Shauni-sama, or hide under my desk until this awkwardness I'm feeling passes. ^^;;

That aside, pardon the assumptive speculation, but it's starting to look like almost all the Gamers are noteworthy in one respect or another, seeing as Madame Sutra knows Josiah...

Haha, yeah. If people in the RP are using .hack as inspiration for ROM RP content, from which I take my inspiration, I guess you could say, in some round about way, .hack has inspired ROM. The design of the headset though is a complete rip of of the Nintendo Virtual Boy. I also thought it was the best way to do what I needed to do.

As far as Simeon's speculation goes, I've left little hints about the noteworthiness of the gamers in there profiles. Lets just say that in the comic, the gamers aren't just randomly sucked into a game like the RP, and there is a reason amnesia Shauni knows all about them....anything more than that may spoil the surprise.

As for Simeon being promoted to Game Designer, it was necessary for his revised role in the comic. You may be surprised when you find out what happened to him actually was an accident.

Hi Josiah,

Don't know what happened to the news post, but the bottom paragraph should be at the top.

This is first, but the first paragrah is at the bottum!

Rant Title: A horses butt

As sated in last weeks news post (below) ROM the comic and DHS Comix http://www.dhscomix.com/index.php by Merlin have swapped costumes for Halloween related goodness.

Merlin did a whole chapter http://www.dhscomix.com/comics/08/rcomic.php?p=01 using ROM costumes on her own cast, but as I’m only two comic into a chapter after a “Christmas” arch, I decided to do one comic to mark the occasion instead.

To credit the costumes used in the comic, as there isn’t enough room in the comic itself for all of them:

Shauni is dressed as Loki Kiborn http://www.dhscomix.com/rchara/rchara.php?p=loki
Josiah is dressed as Bluff http://www.dhscomix.com/rchara/rchara.php?p=bluff

And as stated in the comic, Silver is dressed as Drake Piperion http://www.dhscomix.com/rchara/rchara.php?p=drake , Jeff is dressed as Snatch http://www.dhscomix.com/rchara/rchara.php?p=snatch and Ivy and Lilly are dressed as Delta Morningstar http://www.dhscomix.com/rchara/rchara.php?p=delta

As I said in the comic, Merlin totally came up with the costume swap. I think it’s a great idea, and I might do something similar again some time soon!

Have a happy Halloween!

Rant Title: Wii Mii!

My faith in the shop were I got my Wii from has been restored, thought admittedly they are still kinda rubbish.

I got home Wednesday and a neighbour of mine brought a box over to me at around 9pm. The company couldn't fix my faulty Wii, so they had sent me a new one. The pros of this is that it was a brand new Wii, it came with Wii sports (which I now have two of) and it also came with Wii sports resorts and Wii Motion plus. All well and good. Actually, freaking amazing. I was made up...however, the company hadn't contacted me to let me know they had gotten my Wii, hadn't let me know they couldn't fix it, hadn't told me they were sending me a new one, addressed it to a "Ms S. Love" when my last name is "Lowe", sent it to my home address when I asked them to mail it to where I work as no one was in to sign for it AND left it with a neighbour without leaving me a note to tell me it had even arrived....good job I have nice neighbors otherwise I might not have EVER seen it again!

Also, lost all my game saves....but at least I have a Wii again! Hurray!

Also, Melin http://www.dhscomix.com/ totaly just finshed with our costumes! Hurray take two!

Rant Title: No skin of what now?

The expression “No skin of my nose” is a fairly common one in the UK, but I’m not sure if it is world wide. It’s basically something that you say which means you do not care about something because it will not affect you. “I don’t care because I won’t be effected”. I tried to find the origin of the phrase but the internet wouldn’t give me a straight answer. It either stems from 19th century theatrical circles, or boxing. If anyone if interested in looking up the origin, let me know!

I believe it should be "off". As in "skin off my nose". The phrase is used here, but I've heard it more as "skin off my back" as opposed to noses.

Silver's right that it's off (I did correct that in the news post, BTW), but I hear "skin off my nose" a whole lot more than "skin off my back".

Thanks for the spelling check. I'll amend the comic by Friday and re-email it to you Josiah.

As for the phrase, I've never heard "No skin off my back". I have however heard "No skin off my teeth", but I thinks thats people confusing the phrase with "just by the skin of my teeth".
