I strongly recommend reading It, The Dark Half, and The Stand - and the Dark Tower series of course, definitely some of his best books.

Finished the Hunger Games series (the author's not the best at writing but it's a very good story, worth the read) and now reading The Divine Invasion.

Just finished book one of The Hunger Games. Finished it in like 3 days... totally devoured it. Absolutely obsesed. Doing my best to find the second book (Catching Fire) but there are no copies at the library and it's still in hardcover and I'm way to cheap to buy a hardcover book so GAH

It's a pretty good series. The ending could have been a bit better and the whole premise is a total rip-off of Battle Royal...but it's still pretty good.

Anyway, I'm currently rereading A Song of Ice and Fire series since the next book is coming out soon (after several years of waiting) and after that I'm planning to reread The Wheel of Time series since the final volume is going to be coming out this winter. I also just finished Three (a mystery / suspense novel) which was really good...right up until the last part when the whole thing kind of fell apart thanks to one of the most ridiculous plot twists ever.

I loved "The Hunger Games" and it's series. A little warning, though. In the last book, Mockingjay, things get darker and edgier, as hard to believe as that is :P

Finally picked up the second book in The Kingkiller Chronicle. The first one was The Name of the Wind, which I read last year. I've had the second, The Wise Man's Fear, for a while but haven't had the time to read it. But with nothing to do on work breaks I thought I might as well start reading it. It's pretty good, but at times the main character's mary sue-ness gets kind of annoying. I mean, he's good at everything. Got a cool writing style though. The main story is told as a flashback as the main character recounts it to a scribe, occasionally going back into present day.

Finished The Hunger Game series. I was totally prepared for the darker and edgierness, but it was still amazing. Absolutely brilliant series. Sure, the kids killing each other thing is a rip off of Battle Royale, but A. It's impossible to come up with an original idea nowadays. By now, even if you aren't aware, someone else already thought of it, 2. Collins executed the whole thing completly differently than Battle Royale, and III. The series as a whole ended up not really being about that anyways. Loved the books. I was kind of upset with the ending when I finished it at 2 AM, but then, 6 hours of sleep later, I re-read the last 10 pages and changed my mind. However, I still (spoiler) don't think Prim needed to die. Okay, maybe it made some stuff happen, but Collins could have figured out another way... a way that spared poor Prim. It just kills me that this whole series began with Katniss risking her life to save her sister--that's how everything got set into motion. And, in the end, none of it mattered because Prim died anyways. Maybe that's why she had to die, but it still kills me. I cried at her death. I've never cried at a book before. Without the little epilouge, I would have been disappointed by the end, but with it, I thought it was appropriate. And that's the end of my little Hunger Games rant.

Anyways, now I'm about to start Einstein's Dreams for my AP English summer assignment. My friend said she couldn't put it down, so I've got high hopes.

I won't argue that it's near impossible to come up with a totally original idea, and Hunger Games did takes things in a different direction than Battle Royal, the concept just isn't as unique as some people make it out to be though. But yeah, good series overall though the ending certainly isn't as "positive" as I would have liked.

I will second NabMaster's post, as all of those are among the best modern books I've read.

My most recently finished reads: How I Became Stupid by M. Page, Cat's Cradle by K. Vonnegut. Both are outstanding works that only get better - and funnier - the more time you spend thinking about them or looking for subtleties. Current reads: The Name of the Rose, U. Eco and 11/22/63, S. King.

Aside from the occasional manga, I'm rereading the entire Wheel of Time series in preparation for the final book. Fortunately(?) the publication date for said final book was delayed quite a bit so that I actually will finish on time (probably a good bit early, actualy).

I finished reading A Clockwork Orange a (long) while ago. It was really fun and...uhh...strange...but I loved it! It's definitely up on the list of my favorite books, if not, my favorite.

I'm currently reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. So far it's...umm...strange, (I'm sensing a pattern here...) but I do like it! After I finish it, I might start one of the three books I've been hoping to read for a while. These books happen to be The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Invisible Man, and a book I only recently heard of called The Naked Lunch. From what I've heard it's very...well, as you would expect, strange.

Oh, and I also might want to continue reading Catch-22. I stopped a few chapters in and kind of forgot about it...well, actually I need to find the book first. I'm betting it fell behind/under my bed...as most of my forgotten-about books have.

I started reading A Game of Thrones a week ago. I'm about halfway through, so no spoilers. I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Then again its an Australian series and I'm not to sure how well known it is outside Australia (besides Japan, since they loved it so much that they turned it into an awesome anime. . . with one of Delta Goodrems sones as the thired opening. It's australian?!?! Darn, an awesome book series that I thought was made in America, that turns out to be from where I live Must find out if anymore of the books I love are australian too
