Hi! Congrats, Doodle!

Obama's spending is one of the big reasons I'm voting for Romney. On that note, the fact that Obama has increased spending so much after blasting Bush for the same thing and promising to significantly cut the deficet back in 2008 doesn't do much for his credibility either. And I honestly don't think his spending has accomplished much either. Healthcare reform that no one's really sure will be any better (and was forced through despite lousy public approval)? A bunch of money poured into green energy companies that shut down shortly after? There's other things about Obama that I dislike as well, but I don't really feel like going into all that right now.

Anyway, I don't think Romeny would be a bad president. He did a lot of impressive stuff as governor and his economic plans may work (and at least shouldn't be any worse than Obama's). Unless you really like Obama's "stick it to the rich" attitude, what's to feel guilty about? The gay marriage issue? It's not like Obama would pass something like that (it'd never get approved anyway) and even if Romney isn't pro homosexual, it's not like he's going to make it a crime either.

It's just that Romney generally comes of as a sleezy kind of guy. I mean, corruption among businessmen and politicians is nothing new, but he takes it to a higher level than any of our other recent candidates...

my comprehension of the American system is vague at best.
I hear that! I have no idea who is evening running, and I only know Obama cos he's president now.

Hi! I think Romney only comes off as sleezy if you're watching Obama's attack ads about him. And a lot of the stuff in them isn't very accurate when you actually look it up. That said, he was a big businessman, he could very well be kinda sleezy. Though in my mind, most politicians are to an extent. Personally, I think Obama's been acting sleezier lately. Some of the statements he made in the debates, and the whole Benghazi thing are making me think that there's a lot of issues he's either deliberately lying or utterly clueless about. I suppose being uninformed is better than lying, but that wouldn't say much for how seriously he takes his job.

But anyway, good luck to everyone in Sandy's path!

I don't mind uninformedness so much. The President doesn't need to know everything about everything; otherwise it would be a waste to have congresses and cabinets full of people to keep him on track. And if they're a total waste because the President already knows everything about everything... well, then I'd rather not have their paychecks come out of my taxes!

I'll admit I haven't really been watching the debates, just looking up bits and pieces after they're over. I also haven't seen any of the Democratic party's anti-Romney adds. I don't normally watch tv; get all my news through the Internet, and that's not changing just because the President is. And I still get a much more sleezy impression from him than I do Obama. Or Bush, or McCain, or even Gore for that matter. Although Kerry... Kerry was sleezier than Romney, definitely... so there's that at least.

Speaking of Sandy, I heard where it's going to make landfall. I mean, I suppose it may have changed since last night, but uh... they first estimated South Jersey, somewhere between Tom's River and Atlantic City. I've driven to both of those places plenty of times, and I realized something: my town is... pretty much exactly in the middle of them. The distance it takes to drive to either of those places is exactly the same. So then they said that landfall would be "Near Barnegat"... hey, guess where I live? Yeeeaaah it's Barnegat. But they didn't evacuate my area... not sure if that's because it's not actually gonna be that bad here or because they gave up any hope of saving us. Well, if I don't come back, you guys know why!

Also, I went out Saturday dressed as a zombie pirate! I got to shot people in laser tag.

Fun times!

Hey.

Politics make my brain hurt. I should probably grow up and learn what all of the things mean, but.... bahhh I'm a bad US citizen. And kind of bad at just being a person. So very apathetic about so many things. Should work on that.

ANYWHO Halloweekend was fun! Went as Dr. Horrible to my band's Halloween party, and I'll probably wear the costume again to classes on actual Halloween if the weather doesn't prove to be too destructive. At the very least, I'll put it on to get some pics in costume. The tuba section also has this cool tradition around midnight on the Saturday before Halloween. Around that time, the Cornell Chimes have a near-midnight concert where they play a bunch of really cool spooky songs (including our Alma Mater in a minor key, which sounds beyond awesome). Then, at midnight, the clock strikes 13, except it isn't just one bell being rung over and over, but a bunch of dissonant notes being added together to create this incredibly eerie effect. Shortly thereafter, the tubas being playing a bunch of fun and creepy songs.... then the rest of the band throws spare change, trying to get it in their bells. Then we pick up all the money and it all goes to the tubas. To do what, I do not know, but it's a lot of fun. I love all of our wonky band traditions.

And my drum major and I continue to be adorable when no one's watching. Sigh. 16 more days until she's no longer my drum major. Wheeeeee my life is weird.

Moi,

Ditto, Saber. Once I'm old enough to vote, I might care a bit more about elections and politics and such, but right now, it's a bit to chaotic for me. And, besides, I'm too focused on figuring out when I'll be able to figure out what my PSAT score was and wondering why I need to learn about rational and radical exponents when even my own math teacher says they're pretty useless.

So...Sandy...Yeah, living inland, I've dealt with blizzards and ice storms before, but I don't think I've ever been in the path of a hurricane. Normally, Long Island is the one that takes the brunt of those. This will certainly be an experience for me. Hopefully, the power won't go out...I need my internet.

As for my Halloween costume, I'm still working on the last little bit of it. I just need to find a good overcoat...and if I can't find one, I'll have to make one...Oh boy.
Whenever I get my entire costume in order, I'll try and take a picture to post here.

Stay radical people! Peace off!

Lost power, no internet at home and no phone service either. Drove to the next town over and I'm connected to 4g now... estimated that it could take up to a week to get power back. This sucks. Most places are closed because of the hburicane, but we found a pizza place that's still open! That's America for you. Anyways, everything's fine, my area dn't get too badly flooded or anything. Couple of treed went down around the neighborhood, though! Crazy. But yeah, don't expect to hear from me until the power's back.

Heeey, guess what? The power's back! I guess they told us seven to ten days so that we wouldn't be upset that it was out for a full day? Well, it's back now, and I got out of two days of work because the theater's been closed since Sunday. All in all, not a bad weekend, got to sit around and do nothing, played some board games, read a book. Today I went out and took some pictures of the downed trees and stuff in the area, figured I'd get on that before they cleaned everything up. Figure you guys'll get more out of it than any of my facebook friends, since they mostly live around here anyway, so I'll be sure to post them later.

Glad to hear you are safe Silver.

We've had pretty good coverage of Sandy over hear on the news for the last few days. Looks really bad...I hear that it could cost $20 Million to repair everything.

From what I hear it, it should have come here over Europe but went in land. The weather here has been effected due to all the temperature shifts. Its been horribly cold but not snowing. We have had the rain for it, so I'm prepared for another snow in like last year...

Hi! Glad you got you power back quickly, Silver.

I was reading an artical a bit earlier today about all the looting that's taken place post-Sandy. I thought it was rather sad that the artical said it was to be expected. I mean, Japan has virtually no looting after the giant earthquake and tsunami last year, which was a whole lot worse. But here, a good bit of recreational looting is "to be expected". -.-

I was feeling a bit down because this was destined to be the suckiest Halloween ever, but Christie rescheduled it! I didn't know you could reschedule these things, but he said that Halloween is on November 5th now! That means I'll actually be able to... you know, do something. I don't have plans yet, but that just makes it even better! It's Halloween and I still have five days to plan for Halloween!

Aside from that, though... my college is open tomorrow. None of the other colleges on the east coast are; they're staying closed through Friday. But for whatever reason, Stockton decided to open Thursday... two of my professors cancelled their classes, on the grounds that they are incapable of reaching the campus due to road closings. Buuuut not the professor I have at 8:30 in the morning. So my day looks like this: wake up at an ungodly hour, take an hour for a 30 minute drive because traffic will be terrible, sit around in a class that's utterly pointless to attend because the professor just kinda rambles about whatever he feels like (but that I can't skip tomorrow because I have to skip Tuesday or I won't be able to vote, and we lose credit for skipping too many), sit around for FOUR HOURS then go to my last class, another one where the professor just kinda talks about irrelevant stuff. Yaaaay...

Hey.

So for all y'alls that aren't my facebook friends or otherwise just didn't notice, I was Dr. Horrible for Halloween! For how hastily it was thrown together, it actually turned out pretty good. On my feet are rain boots covered in white duct tape. We're gonna do a photo shoot later in my dorm's laundry room for funsies. And because I need pics of me where you can see the effort I put into the boots. Because it took effort, gosh darn it.

But I shouldn't be on teh internetz because I have a 9 page paper due in 12 hours as well as a physics prelim (basically a midterm, but Cornell is weird) tomorrow/tonight/however you want to interpret the whole "it's 1 AM thing." But I felt the need to show my costume because I'm way happy with how it turned out.

Also, glad to hear you've got power back, Silver. We're fairly inland here, so we weren't hit too much by the storm, though some of my off-campus friends did lose power for a bit.
