Actually, to be correct, apostraphes are never used for plurals. No exception. It's a common misconception for usage in things such as 'Straight A's', where it should actually be 'Straight As'.

Actually, I'm pretty sure single letters do need apostrophes. Can't think of any nouns that do, based off of "shoot what was it" or not, but single letters do to make it clear they're not supposed to be read as words. Like "as", you know.

But anyway...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

I agree with Silver and Stevenson on that.

I think what you're trying to recall is "Eats Shoots and Runs," my english teacher was talking about it last semester.

I remember now! "Do's." As in "Do's and Don'ts." It's still mostly for clarification. The words where apostrophes are used are typically nouns warped from other types of words. I'll keep an eye out for other examples, but they are few.

From looking it up online, I found "Dos" is acceptable, but when was the last time you saw that?
Hmm... This signature just got really short...

You're thinking of "Eats, Shoots and Leaves", which is a good book, but not what Silver was talking about; Silver was referring back to Poik's post.

The precise rule is that single letters, words being used to represent the word itself as opposed to the definition thereof (as in, "One must always have i's in their their's"), and numbers (i.e. "There are fourteen 2's in this data spread.") get an apostrophe in the plural.
Stevenson's Vocabulary Word of the Week:

Foment: (verb) To excite or arouse, i.e. 2014's Week of Randomness hopes to foment some activity on the forums.

Stevenson's Latin Phrase of the Week:

Brutum Fulmen: (senseless thunderbolt) This phrase, coined by Pliny the elder, is used to refer to an empty threat.
