I hear ya...I have to write an essay that's due in a few weeks time and I'm having a lot of trouble with it. The instructions are so vague, basically it's just "look over one of the novels/short stories we've looked at so far and talk about it in whatever literary way you want." Gah, I can't do vague things!

My school just had a college fair, and there are some that I'm really interested in. Lets see, there is UT Knox, UT Marten, King College, Rhodes College, and Union University. I might go to Rhodes because it's close to home, it has small classes, but it's pretty expencive. The UT colleges have a good Pre-med program, and the one at Marten is smaller then the one at Knoxville, which means smaller classes. I'll have to do some reasearch on these, especially Union and King, because I've never heard of them before.

You should totally go there, cuz that's where Desination Imagination Global Finals are held! Sooo, since I'm super awesome and I'm going to make Global finals again in a couple years, I'll be there for a week in May! At least I hope so....Globals was soooo fun....like, insanely fun. Funner than fun. It was an incredible experience.

Heso! Oh wow. I'm having the same problem, Nab. We were told to look at any one of the short stories we've read so far this year and apply any type of criticism we want to it. So it's not quite as vauge - we're essentially limited to Marxist, Feminist, Psycho-analytic, and that other kind - but... it's obvious Mr. Keffner's tired of reading the same essay over and over again so now he's giving us options. I guess, since we had to write an essay earlier arguing that Stalking either was or wasn't a feminist piece of literature, it would be easiest to use that... but then there's The Lottery, which is so Marxist it's scary, and Open Boat with its psychopaths... I don't like this assignment. Which would be easiest? What's everyone else in the class going to use? I don't want to follow the crowd here. They like creativity on the AP Exams...

And I want to finish before Heroes... Then I can watch more Idolmaster before Gurren Lagann comes on.

...I hate my life sometimes...

Heso! So why Caramelldansen? It's a fine subject and all - discussed almost daily, in fact, by myself, KT-sama, and Itsuki - though a bit random. Yeah, KT-sama also attended Otakon... and mentioned that, while in the dealer's room, someone's cell phone rang and it happened to be Caramelldansen. Then essentially everyone in the vicinity stops what they're doing and... dances. She described it as, "Being part of something bigger than yourself"... to which I said, "Dear God, it sounds like a cult."

...So when my SOS-brigade inevitably does Caramelldansen for the school lipsync, that would make me both a Haruhi-ist and part of the Caramelldansen cult...

I love caramelldansen. good for fun and excercise. :D

That and Edgeworth dances bettar.

Ooo, sounds interesting... What are the stories? Do you get a task sheet outlining what you will get marked on and what have you been mainly working on in your subject?

These are the questions that will help you in your quest fro a good mark. I liked English at school. It was one of my best subjets^^ That and Art!

(I'm not including ICT in my 'best subjects' because that was just something that my school did. Yes, I got academic awards for having the highest mark in the school 2 years running but that's only becasue the subject was way too easy...and I was prolly the only one that put any real work into it >.< ICT=Blugde lesson unless you really enjoy it... and then you still get to laze about so... yeah^^)

English isn't my favorite subject, but it's one of my best subjects. As long as we're not talking about verbs. I just have major verb-themed issues. Always forget the helping verbs when looking for the verb of the sentence. Bleh.

Let's see, there's "Clotel, or the President's Daughter" and "Flight to Canada" (which we're just starting, so can't really use that), both of which are slavery novels, but Flight to Canada is almost satirical. For short stories, there's "A & P" and a bunch more that I can't remember, mostly because they have huge names. I'm thinking on doing my essay about this one story we read where aliens come and turn all the Natives in the world to stone. Since nobody has any idea what to do with them, everyone just shoves them in warehouses and leaves them there. And all of a sudden, alien coyotes (a play on Native beliefs by the way) start taking all the Natives onto spaceships and flying off. On the way, one of the Natives says "What took you so long?" to the aliens. Really weird story, but its really just a sci fi version of how the Natives got treated by all the Old Worlders. So yeah, tons of weird stuff to choose from.
