Re: Games I've Played Recently
My sweetest Scribblenauts, why do I shun you as I continue posting on this forum this cold night. Because, although our time together is wonderful it cannot compare to having a chance at winning some event that I just found out about less then an hour ago. Truly I am a simple man and you are a complex game. I wish only to sing of your praises forever, alas I can't because this day is almost over and I need to get my post count up. Thus my dearest love, we shall part ways this cruel evening and swear to meet another time. Please forgive me as I have no choice, this forum is my prison for another half hour. When I am free I only pray you return to me and allow me to play you once again.
Welcome to the Asylum. Come in and join me...

Hey, hold on a minute! Why is there a discussion of video games in my classroom! Everybody, place your gameboys and Playstation thingamajigs in this little basket, and you won't get them back until early June. Anybody caught with another game will get lunch detention. I hope you all studied for the pop quiz in Algebra, 100 questions to be precise.
(My friend is letting me borrow Dead Rising, it's a pretty addicting game if you ask me.)

Re: Games I've Played Recently
On consoles, I've been playing a lot of FFX lately, not because I like it more than the other FF games but because my party got powerful enough to kill a lot of the Species Creations. So now I'm attempting to build a party strong enough to take on the custom monsters like Nemesis. Legend of Dragoon is popping in too.
On emulator, I've been playing Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, Secret of Mana, and A Link to the Past lately. Curiously, this is the first time since first playing it that I've gone a full season without playing Seiken Densetsu 3. Also, I decided to give another look at Pokemon Red. So far, it seems that it genuinely was a good game before the franchise got all fruity, particularly thanks to the show, but I don't know if you can do multiplayer online with VBA.

Donkey Kong Country: Returns has succeeded in making me as angry as the original did, and I'm only 5 worlds through.

Re: Games I've Played Recently
Sorry, posted in the wrong topic...
I'm not playing much right now since my new computer currently lacks a decent video card, so I've spent most of my time GM-ing a team in NHL 11. So far I've won one championship and have spent three years in a row as the winningest team during the regular season.
On a side note, I'm not sure why there's such a stigma surrounding major-league sports teams. Personally I find EA's NFL and NHL series's to be quite enjoyable.

I finally finished the last few optional missions in Peace Walker. Next up, Lunar Silver Star Harmony.

I might be thinking of the wrong one, but isn't that one basically Silver Star Story Complete with an opening Four Heroes sequence, but without the bromides, animated cutscenes or funny NPC/Kyle lines?Josiah wrote:I finally finished the last few optional missions in Peace Walker. Re: Games I've Played Recently
It is a remake of Silver Star Story Complete (which was itself a remake). I haven't gotten too far yet (just got the Dragon Diamond) but here's what I know.
1. There is an opening sequence where you play as the four heroes. There's supposed to be more extra scenes as well, though I haven't gotten far enough to see any yet.
2. The graphics have been completely redone and look great.
3. The music has been recorded with real instruments and sounds great.
4. The animated scenes and bromides are still intact as is all the dialogue (at least as far as I've gotten). Actually, you even get real life copies of the bromides as a bonus item in the limited edition package. The game was retranslated so there's some differences in dialogue but so far the new translation seems just as good and funny as the old one.
5. The battle system has been updated a bit (new abilities, no more seperate inventories, no more direct movement control, etc). The difficulty was supposedly changed as well but I'm not far enough to say if it's easier or harder.
6. All the voice acting was redone. So far it's pretty good though I should note that some characters sound a bit different and the songs' lyrics were changed a bit (from what I can tell, the original Japanese lyrics are probably the same, they just got translated a little differently).

Recently got Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs...
One Word; Addicting.
Even Robby (who doesn't like the ranger games much) is addicted to it. He's mainly playing it to get the Deoxys, but we like the wireless missions. more fun. Since we've been able to play the wireless missions he hasn't done a thing in the story mode and i've only done a couple missions...

Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell
That spikes you when you pick it up

I hate the KONG levels in Donkey Kong Country Returns. So hard.

Huh, now I want this one, and the system it's on. And to think I made Xenogears, Ogre Battle: MBQ, and Lunar: Eternal Blue complete my priority games for this year.Josiah wrote:It is a remake of Silver Star Story Complete (which was itself a remake). Hopefully it's harder. In SSSC you could just pick up a Chira's Tail in the Cave of Trials, throw it on Mia, and watch every minor enemy group from then on die without hitting you.
Re: Games I've Played Recently
They're supposed to be really hard. Though some, like the gear riding one, aren't so bad.

There was a gear riding section in Silver Star?Josiah wrote:They're supposed to be really hard. Though some, like the gear riding one, aren't so bad.

No, in Donkey Kong Country Returns. I was replying to Cheez in that post.
