Hola. I had forgotten all about Nausicaa, poor thing. >__> That'd probably be one of my favorites too.

Heya.

Sorry for just... going inactive. I've been keeping up with a lot of amusing drama that has been going on elsewhere.

A few days ago I watched the Ed Edd n Eddy movie. I loved it. :3 Such a great way to end the series..

I just found out I have Bandmaster's Competition, A.K.A. THE Competition on Halloween. There goes my last chance to scare Elementary/Middle schoolers. *sigh* And I can't even have fun and sing Halloween Songs(Grim Grinning Ghosts, anyone?) because since it's THE Competition, we're supposed to be all serious and have no fun. Well, I suppose I could do that after our performance, but by then we'll be all tired.

Hey Saber, does your school have a final competition as important as Bandmasters where people from all over the region come over to compete?
Well, we have one major competition, MICCA Finals. We don't compete in normal competitions, though. As in, there's no first place, 2nd place, 3rd place thing. You're evaluated on individual worth. Like, it's possible for 10 people to get a gold medal, if they're all really good. Mind you, it's still very difficult. They don't give away golds easily. We were one of the few bands to get a Silver in Division I (we're a small band...).

Last year, I had a football game on Halloween :(. But, aftewards, I went over my friend's house to watch Young Frankenstein, and that was fun. Especially since it was me, him, his girlfriend, then my other two friends who were also a couple at the time. The couples were being all couple-like, and I was busy stealing the pillows to make a pillow fortress. :D I win.

Anywho, had friends over today. That was fun. Going to Ohio tomorrow. Get to bring me laptop, whoo!

Miyazaki films, eh? I've only seen Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro, but I'm going to have to go with Totoro just because when I was a small child I loved it and would watch it over and over again because it had lots of adorable fuzzy critters... I wuvs the Catbus!

In Doodlenewz, I haven't been able to sleep at all recently due to a local heat wave. My strategy is to basically to not bother trying to go to sleep and spend the whole night playing Team Fortress 2 and re-reading the entierety of Eyeshield 21, going to sleep only when I feel like I'm about to pass out. Summertime, baby!

Heso! Favorite Miyazaki movie, huh... Between Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Castle in the Sky. Loved Princess Mononoke as well. Spirited Away and Totoro were fun, but just didn't have the same effect... And Howl's Moving Castle and Gake No Ue no Ponyo just lacked explanations of certain things. "How exactly did she break the spell, anyway?" and "Why exactly is the world out of balance, anyway?" respectively.

That's all I've really seen... Watched Kiki's Delivery Service a long time ago, but I don't really remember it.

Also was discussing with Colly the major motifs of Miyazaki: Little girls, old ladies, and blob monsters. Ponyo has all three. There are exceptions to each, but as far as I know, every movie has at least one.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

I've seen most of them except the "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea " film.

I loved Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind most, but I also loved Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. I also loved Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky. I found The Castle of Cagliostro (Lupin the III), My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service excellent. I wasn't too keen on Porco Rosso. It was okay, and I found it funny, but I don't like airplanes.

;-) I really want to see Ponyo the new Miyazaki movie, even though kiki's Delivery Service will always hold a place in my heart.

Hi.

Well I'm back from my trip and my car just had to die yesterday. It's in the shop but don't know what's wrong with it yet.

Love that book. I read it a long time ago... maybe I'll re-read it if I find the time.... good movie, too.

Speaking of books, my friend just lent me Through the Eyes of a Raptor. What's super-cool about it is I met the author in 4th grade. A girl in my class' mom knew the author, so she came to our school and read an excerpt. I remember thinking it was really cool. All I remembered is it had to do with shapeshifting and runes. Anywayz, back then, our class (all of us 4th graders at our elementary school) voted on what a certain character's design would be (I believe the result was white tiger, but that was long ago. I'll just have to wait and see...). In the acknowledgments, we're mentioned (well, it says something among the lines of "*insert name of girl in my grade here* and her then-4th grade class") for helping her out with the book. The book got published two years ago. My friend was on the same 7th grade team as the girl (in our middle school, we're divided into two teams: A and B. My friend was on 7A and I was on 7B (has nothing to do with academic level, just FYI)), so they were able to get signed copies.

So far, it's a great book. And, it has shapeshifting and runes in it, just like I remembered :P.

On another note, I'm really aggrivated that my grandma's house doesn't have wireless internet. We tried using a non-wireless (blanking totally on the name) connector thingamawhatsit, but it wouldn't work. Darn. Her version of Internet Explorer is so outdated, it's slow, no tabs, her compy doesn't have all my music, nor does it have my huge favorites list. :(

Hi! Can't believe it's almost 5 PM already... I had a Japanese test this morning, then had to take my car in for an oil change, then went to Borders to get the new Terry Goodkind book (they had a signed copy and I got it!!!), and then had lunch with my dad before finally making it back to my apartment. No big deal though, since I don't have any more final projects to work on.

I would like to point out that there's a decent amount of Miyazaki movies without giant blob monsters (Porco, Kiki's, and Totoro come to mind), though they do show up fairly often. As I previously said, Howl's is my favorite though Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, and Nausica are all fairly close. Mononoke is actually probably my least favorite (a bit too dark and violent).

Hi

I just applied for a job at the local music academy so I'll see if that will turn out better than the other jobs I applied to.

Also, if everyone involved in the Avatar RP could post there, that'd be super fantastic awesome.[/shameless plugging]

Heso! Could be worse, Aura. You could be one of the White Witch's followers.

And the reason I like Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa was because they had the perfect mix of fun and violent. Castle in the Sky had the whole lost world giant robot conspiracy going on, but it also had a crew of lovable sky pirates led by an old lady. Nausicaa had the nature vs. technology theme plus an army of enraged insects trying to destroy everything, but it also had Teto and Asbel. Good balance. Mononoke had some subtle humor, but overall it was a bit dark... where as Spirited away didn't have quite as much conflict. The antagonist was just a crazy old lady with a humorously large head.

And even those without giant blob monsters have either little girls or old ladies as prominent characters. Ok, well I don't know about Porco Rosso, but...
