Re: Japanese Word Thread
((Just a note, Tempura is referring to the batter that the vegetables/seafood is coated in before deep-frying, although if you have no deep fryer you could (I think) pan-fry it in oil although you'd have to use a lot of oil for it to work properly. I'll have to test that to see if it works. I know, first quest for the cooking thread ^_^))
Hagimemashiite - Hello, how are you? (At least I'm pretty sure that's what it means from memory, I think its usually used of first meeting and I think I've spelt it wrong. Edit; I added in an extra i because it got censored.)

Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell
That spikes you when you pick it up

((Any now to correct Kaida. Sorry, Kaida.))
hajimemashi-te: "Nice to meet you." (That's the gist, anyway. You use it when you meet or are introducted to someone for the first time.)

Re: Japanese Word Thread
Actually, genki means "healthy and/or energetic" and desu is a moderately polite sentence ending. It could be used to say "I'm fine." in response to a "How are you?" or "How is x?" sort of question. Though, unlike in English speaking countries, in Japan that's not a very common topic in casual conversation.

Re: Japanese Word Thread
As far as I know, there isn't a special word for "the voice of god". You'd probably just say the Japanese equivalent of the phrase "the voice of god" or "god's voice". Depending on how it's written, tensei can mean...
tensei: nature, instinct
tensei: malleability

The first time I heard "tensei" I thought it meant "rebirth"Josiah wrote:As far as I know, there isn't a special word for "the voice of god". You'd probably just say the Japanese equivalent of the phrase "the voice of god" or "god's voice". Depending on how it's written, tensei can mean...
