I'm surprised you didn't take advantage of the "Pikablu" rumors that spread when Marrill was first mentioned.

I actually thought about that, but couldn't figure out a good way to work it into the strip, especially since Brendan and May haven't even encountered a pikachu yet.

Perhaps you could try that when Brendan & May get to the power plant/safari zone? Pikachu is around there. Or you could have it somewhere where Marill are around. The possibilities are endless.

She's definitely got something against that kid... or swim tubes. I wonder if anyone has actually ever tried entering a magikarp into a contest.

I dunno, but these comics are giving me the urge to pull out my Emerald Version and give it a shot. :P

Thing is, Magikarp can only ever learn three moves (not counting egg moves) and they don't compliment each other very well in a contest setting. But hey, if you can make it through all the contest ranks with a magikarp, that'd be pretty impressive.
