I'll talk about it when it's further along...but that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, which is for posting Japanese words.

Geh... all right, this isn't quite the place for this, but it's as good as anywhere else.

Remember in September when Compy died? Yeah, I didn't really lose anything, except... Japanese language support. I've been trying to survive since then without being able to see kana, and I'm finally on the verge of snapping here... So does anyone know if there's some way to get Compy to support the Japanese language again without using that stupid disc? I don't have any stupid "Windows XP Professional" discs, but Compy's being pretty stubborn about using it...

Guess I'll post a few Japanese words while I'm here, anyway-
kuma: bear
kaba: hippo
ushi: cow
kirin: giraffe
zou: elephant
saru: monkey
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

I just go to a japanese website and it usually pops up with something asking if you want to download the pack.

You might be able to download off of Microsoft's website Silver. If not, you could take the effective but somewhat time consuming method of torrenting an image file of the Windows XP installation disc, burning it to a CD (or using a program like Alcohol 52% to run the image file straight off your computer in a virtual CD drive), and then using said CD when you try to install the language support.

Nab: Yeah, that's what I've been doing... So I click "Install", then it goes all:
Microsoft wrote:Please insert the Compact Disc labelled 'Windows XP Professional CD-ROM' into your CD-ROM drive (D:) and then click OK.

You can also click OK if you want files to be copied from an alternate location, such as a floppy disc or a network server.
D: Is right... I click OK, and then it goes all:
Microsoft wrote:Some files on Windows XP Professional CD-ROM are needed.
(OK Button)

Insert Windows XP Professional CD-ROM into the drive selected below, then click OK.
(Cancel Button)

Copy files from: Place (Browse Button)
And I click OK, and then it makes the "I-don't-think-so!" noise. So that hasn't been working.

The only thing I've been able to find on the Microsoft website is some IME business so I can get Japanese to work in Microsoft Office. Yeah... I don't have Microsoft Office. So it won't even download.

Guess I'm gonna have to download some Alcohol. Or... whatever that alternate method Josiah suggested is.

And while I'm here...
iruka: dolphin
usagi: rabbit
hitsuji: sheep
gachou: goose
ahiru: duck
yagi: goat
sasori: scorpion
dobutsu: animal

Now you're all set to go to a Japanese zoo!
