Mario. He gets to save the world platform style and RPG style, plays tons of sports and other games, and kart races. Plus he doesn't constantly run off ledges due to crappy cameras and overly loose controls. ((I mean really, all these years and Sonic Team still hasn't figured out how to make adecent 3D camera and their controls are actually getting worse...))

Rings. It only takes 50 to get a 1UP, as opposed to 100 coins, and they protect you from damage too.

Would you rather have an have a save point or a spawn point?
