Radiant Dawn is also a good game, though it is my 3rd favorite FE game (me having played all 4 english ones), but I still like it a lot.
Since I'm bringing this up, my favorite is Path of Radiance, closely followed by Blazing Sword (just called "Fire Emblem" in the english version. It's for the GBA) which is in turn closely followed by Radiant Dawn, and then Sacred Stones.
You don't need to play PoR before RD, but it would give you a bit more storyline. If you play RD first, you kinda spoil some stuff in PoR.
I'd suggest getting PoR first, especially because I just like the game better overall. The plotline is better in my opinion, and if you play RD first it is harder to get used to PoR because RD allows you to save mid-game and then restart from that point (at least in normal and easy versions) while PoR only allows you to save and quit, and when you restart that save is deleted so if you die, you have to go back to the beginning of the level.
Sorry for the babble, I just luv Fire Emblem.

Been playing DoC FFVII, finished story on normal and now i'm trying ex Hard, I also unlocked Extra missions and Boxemon mission is pure luck, find three cactuars and the worst thing you could find would be a dual horn, after finding one, you might want to restart the mission.
Hatsune Miku is the best singer EVER.

I've been playing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance recently.
Decided to beat it in hard mode (when my old memory card was lost, I had a file in hard mode that was on chapter 20-something).
I've already beaten Sacred Stones in hard mode, got pretty far in hard mode on Radiant Dawn. Never tried it in Blazing Sword though, I had been borrowing it from my friend and had to give it back. I need to get my own copy...

It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*
