Re: Games I've Played Recently
Picked up Fallout: New Vegas yesterday, and plan on spending the next three weeks playing it.

Re: Games I've Played Recently
The secret movie in Birth By Sleep was amazing and really sets things up for Kingdom Hearts 3 (there were a few loose ends, but I suppose Re: Coded will wrap them up). Of course, there's no telling when we'll get KH3. I suspect it'll be Nomura's next project after Versus XIII is done but that would mean it's still at least two or three years away... Makes me wonder where KH 3DS fits in though. I'm guessing it'll either focus on what Mickey was doing before and during the first KH or be a prequel set during the keyblade war.
In other Birth By Sleep news, the last optional boss is insane. And this coming from someone who has beaten all the optional bosses on all the other KH games (including KH2 Final Mix+) on Critical difficulty. Actually, if I wasn't on Critical this guy might not be quite so bad but yeah... Every attack takes you down to 1 HP (assuming you've got the abilities that let you survive at 1 HP when you'd otherwise die). A couple attacks will kill you outright regardless if you're unlucky enough to get hit by them. He attacks quickly and almost constantly so there's very few openings to heal or attack (you're pretty much dodging constantly), has max HP, and can turn invisible (while still attacking you, of course). Plus, the area where you're fighting is so small that you really can't put any distance between yourself and him. In my best attempt I managed to deplete a bit over one of his health bars (out of five). I finally decided that, while I could probably defeat him eventually as is it would just take too many tries. I know how to dodge his attacks and when to attack, but the tiniest slip up and any point will kill you (as will random bad luck). So I need to shorten the battle, which means power leveling until my attacks do a good bit more damage (at present, they only knock off a small fraction of one of his HP bars at a time). If I can get to the point where I'm taking out a third or more of a bar which each hit, it should be a whole lot easier to win. To that end, I ended up rigging my PSP so I can just let it sit and gain XP automatically (keeping some buttons pressed down so stuff runs in a loop). It's the first time I've ever done something like that but, unlike the other KH games, beating all the other optional stuff still leaves you rather low level (45ish) and there's no really good places to grind like there were in KH and KH2. I've got other games to play and I don't want to spend 5 - 10 hours level grinding (especially since that would only do it for one of three characters), but I am going to beat that guy.

Blaaaaarg... Fallout: New Vegas refuses to cooperate with my video card. I've had texture glitches in games before, but this is the first time it's rendered the game completely unplayable. Hopefully updating my drivers will solve the problem...
Oh yeah, the Team Fortress 2 Halloween update is fresh, dope, ill, and other hip words used to describe something awesome.

Well, I'm done with Birth By Sleep. That boss was a lot more reasonable when I only had to survive long enough to hit him around 20 times rather than 50 (still tough though).
And, as mentioned in the PV news post, I'm loving Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Re: Games I've Played Recently
Since my video card and Fallout: New Vegas refuse to get along, I've started playing Uncharted and Modern Warfare 2 again, as well as finally opening up the copy of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars that's been sitting in my room for over a year.

Re: Games I've Played Recently
I just finished Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. It's an all around good action good but serious, WTF is up with the epilogue movie?
It was certainly attention grabbing but almost nothing about it made any sense. I'm tempted to say that they designed it purely for shock value and threw in every crazy plot twist they could think of for that purpose alone, without any thought as to how it could possibly work in a story. But there's a little part of me thinking that, if they actually do have some sorta of awesome story planned that actually makes sense of it all, I absolutely have to know what it is. So yeah, guess I'm gonna be buying the eventual sequel...
The question now is what to play next. I haven't played a traditional RPG in months (the closest I came was Birth by Sleep and that's an action RPG), so I'm tempted to start on one (I've got quite a collection, but at the moment I'm thinking either Eternal Sonata or Persona 3). But Donkey Kong and Epic Mickey are both coming out soon and I've got a few fairly short downloaded games I want to get through (Deathspank 2, Costume Quest, and a couple others) and I finally got Uncharted 2, which I've been wanting to play for ages and if I start a big RPG there's no telling when I'll get to them...

I've been playing Sonic Colors. Finally, a good Sonic game.
EDIT: During Thanksgiving Steam had a nice pack for sale. I bought the pack because it contained Reccetear, and it was only $5. I'm loving it so far.

Speaking of Kirby's Epic Yarn, I was playing it at my friend's house over Thanksgiving. Who knew it was such a fun game?

Steam had two Indie packs on sale, both of which I bought. VVVVVV is hard.
So is Donkey Kong Country Returns. Very fun remake of one of my favorites.

I missed that day of the sale by two hours.CollyChan wrote:During Thanksgiving Steam had a nice pack for sale. I bought the pack because it contained Reccetear, and it was only $5. I'm loving it so far.
Anyway, I'm currently playing Epic Mickey. So far I've had to spend way too much time manually adjusting the camera, but it's otherwise pretty cool.

Sometimes an old flame can begin a new love... lately, I have found myself in the arms of my dear Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, to my surprise, once again with my beloved chao!
May the Triforce be with you.

The dispair... My upcoming trip will pull me away from my beloved Epic Mickey and I will have no choice but to leave our relationship incomplete. I eagerly await the day when we shall be reunited but until that happy time I must try to console myself with my old friend Professor Layton.

Re: Games I've Played Recently
...I was randomly playing with my Chao on Sonic Advance for the first time in ages when I read that post, Saber... I had been feeling the utmost remorse for neglecting my tiny blue friends. I had also just been introduced to Sonic Adventure X but this morning, rekindling my burning passion for the Chao. Ah, my poor Sky... my most beloved Chao, destroyed by the evil Memory Card Deletion. She will not be forgotten...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.
